Hey there.

I use the 550D for filming.
Im NOT ASKING for a good recording resolution or aspect ratio!!

Im looking for somthing to get more image-material thru my lens ;)

The 18-135mm lens is great. But because of the crop factor (RAW-Video) a lot will be cutted while recording.

Im thinking about using a 8mm (fisheye) for filming, to get a panoramatic picture.

Any other ideas or tips? Maybe adapter, another lens or software?
May be a good deal with mm and dof?
A unwarper for fisheye-disortions?
Adaptor or anything else?
Or other good lenses for filming?

My hardware:
550D - ML lates build
Canon 18-135mm
Canon 50mm
80MB/s SDHC card

Raw Video / RAW 1080/720 what is the difference?
August 09, 2013, 07:24:49 AM
Hi!
Just whant to know what is the difference while recording RAW-Videos with iE 1200 x XXX.
Because using the canon 1080p format gives me less frames than using the 720p format.

Both tryed with 24fps.

Is it a big quality difference?

Hi. As i could see after spending some time in searching and trying it seems that there is no special for shooting my self.

So my question :

Is it possible to add a self shot function.
It Should be a time delayed automatic focus.

When i want to take a Clip from my self i need some time for walking in Front of the cam. After this few seconds autofocus gets me.
In princip this is enaugh, better is when Recording starts then.
The Same thing is Interesting for Photos.

Maybe a beep gives the Signal that focussing successed.

Dennis

Hi there!

I want to record a Very short Clip (about 30 seconds) with my eos 550d using my 50mm 1:1.8 lens.
This will be done outside on a big field with some trees in the Background.
There is me rising my hands up in the air. In post i will add some fire and grounddirt...

For a nice sky Ill use nd-filters.

I want to ask you for helping me to decide several things :

Generally... Should i use raw Mode or QuickTime?
The thing is.. What settings would you take?

Is it useful to use a special picture preset  (flat, cinematic, marvel, etc)? If so, what is the better thing for grading a later Moment?

For temporary Exports... What would be the right Codec?

Please help me to manage the right Setup for me. Also... If you have any Tipps and Tricks for me Ill use them!

Hi, i want to record my self and have the Problem that im alone. Is there an Option to let ml process automaticly a Auto Focus After a given Time?
In example:
I have 5 sec to go to the Front of the camera. When im there the camera focusses on me and then Starts Recording. Or just Safes the Focus Position.
Possible?

Hi there.
Is there any way to import the DNG-Sequence or the xyz.RAW-File in VirtualDub?
Using google just brought me that RawSource-Plugin - but its not working with our 14bit-Raw-Files.

So, if you know a way/script/trick to do it please tell me :)

Shoot Preparation / how to get cinema-movement?
July 24, 2013, 01:59:10 PM
Hi!
I know, the right light, using steady cams or stabilizers, the right sound ... everything is importend to have a good movie-like look.

But it doesnt matter how good the set is up- people and object movements allways look like VIDEO - not like cinema!

Why is this?

Decreasing the playback tempo or framerate will bring more cinema-feeling, but everything is moving slower.  Its not the same like we can see on a cinema-screen!
Is there any other option like a special shatter-setting or anything else to get that classic film-cinematic-feeling?

Raw Video / 550D Bad Video Quality?
July 22, 2013, 10:46:02 PM
Hi!

Im trying to make some nice videos using ML with my 550D.
But i allways have much noise in my footage.
I think im on wrong setup of my cam.
However, hoping to find some help and tipps here!

Using a 35-128mm Kit objective 3.5-5.6 IS

I mean, what are the right settings to record iE 1080p 25/24 FPS?
Is there a special thing on how much the apperature value is set or the shatter (i know 2xFPS).
Whats about  HIGH ISOs .. they are very noisy in a little bit dark rooms.

Do i have to make 2 settings for the resolution? 1st the main resolution and after that the ML RAW option?

I would need a very beginners step-by-step tutorial from some one.

Thank you!

Regards,
Dennis
