Raw Video Postprocessing / Salvaging Pink Crazy DNGs
« on: September 12, 2013, 02:22:25 AM »
Hello everyone, I understand we may have accidentally recorded some RAW video to the SD card instead of the CF card.
We may also have done Load Modules wrong.

My big question is this:
"Can we salvage this footage?"

We have a few dozen RAW files ranging from 300MB to 1.5GB's that are 1920x1080, 29.97.
Losing this footage would be epic. I have Hex Fiend installed for Mac and have changed the footer as instructed.
All I get is 1 frame that's good and the rest are Pink crazy dng's.

Can anyone please help?

Raw Video Postprocessing / Saving true DNGs from RAW files
« on: August 18, 2013, 05:51:28 AM »
Shot about 70 RAW files on 5D Mark III today. The first 5 were fine. The next 20 were not. The final 40 were fine.
The ones that were not are producing alternating frames from RAW file #5 and another random file throughout all 20 unpacked DNG folders.
The RAW files are correct in size. Can someone tell me these are salvageable on a Mac? Any help is much appreciated   thanks, Dan

Raw Video / Hit or Miss
« on: August 18, 2013, 05:11:34 AM »
Hello, been using ML 2.3 on 5D Mark III now for a couple months. Amazing stuff guys, seriously. Hats off to the team at Magic Lantern.
Initially, I used KomputerBay cards 1000x and the result was good. I switched over to Lexar 1000x hoping for a little more speed.
The obvious answer to my question is "the cards dude", but hear me out please..

On my last 3 shoots, sometimes it records correctly giving me a perfect RAW file, converted to DNGs and then to AE for 4444 encoding.
OTHER times it records the RAW file, which gives me alternating images of the last good RAW file. And yet other times, alternating pink frames.

I really can't put my thumb on what is causing some to be good and bad. I LOVE, LOVE the hack, but in reality I'm not sure I can continue to use it and lose footage from shoots. Is the simple solution to wipe my SD (ML resident card) clean, re-format my CF cards and try from scratch or is this a known issue?

I'm shooting 1880x1024, 30fps in batches of 3-6 seconds per shot. Any help is greatly appreciated    thanks, Dan
