Camera Emergency Department / Recovering from failed FW update.

A friend updated a 5d mkii with the official update but the battery connector seems to be giving some trouble. The update has frozen and now the camera won't work.
Is there a way to fix this or will he have to send it to canon?

Please have mercy I have a very basic question.

When this raw craze started I was always calulating the speed requirements for certain resolutions so I knew which card I could use and which not.

X(pixels)*Y(pixels)*14(bit)*24(fps)/[8*2^20] would give me the Megabytes/second I would need. This actually worked.

I never thought much about it, but today I wondered that if it is 14bit/per sensel,shouldn't it be 4 times more data?

Any idea?

Given the problems I had today with a Komputerbay 1000x 32gb I'm looking for an alternative. I have found a Transcent 1000x 32GB on amazon for 10€ more then the komputerbay, it's sold and shipped by amazon which would be excellent for me (returning very fast if it breaks,etc...) What kind of speeds are you getting with this card? I have seen some people reporting continuous 1080 with it.

Today my komputerbay 32gb 1000x died after write corruption. Now it shows up as a 30 megabyte card, and it won't format neither in windows nor in ANY of my cameras (nikon,canon). I know it's foolish to rely on one sole card but I was looking forward to use it tomorrow. Any ideas about using a recovery program?
