Share Your Videos / SHORT: Unexpected
December 15, 2013, 05:34:27 PM
Just wanted to share my last short film, which took roughly 6 months to complete. I had a lot of fun shooting it with the kid and 3 friends!
I know I'm not a writer in the soul, so the story is pretty basic and predictable. I've put a good amount of time and work into the Cinematography and Audio mix. Let me know what you think, I'm open for criticism, positive or not!
Thanks for your time!

Hi
I'm Marc-Alexandre Drapeau from Maskinongé, Québec, Canada. I'm a french native speaker who has learn a lot on english forum, such as hv20.com and dvxuser.com.
I like and enjoy making short films with my Canon T2i and Canon HV40. I've learned about filmmaking since the last 12 years! I've started using a JVC VHS-C camcorder, then upgraded to a Sony DCR-TRV340 (Digital8) and in 2009, upgraded to Canon HV40 HDV camcorder. Bought my T2i last year and now experimenting with it a lot.
That's it!

I'll share my work with you:
First try of the Magic Lantern with Technicolor style:

A quick video using my Azden EX-503 lav, which is highly recommended for the price:

A quick demo of my DIY bearing slider:

A comparison between the T2i and my HV40 with a DIY 35mm Spinning adapter, in ambient light:

Now the interesting stuff, my first short film made with the T2i:

A test on "realistic" grain layer done in After Effects:

My "field test" with my DIY Microphone blimp:

And to end, probably my most polished short film:

I had the chance to have one of my friend to compose the score for it, as well as 3 friends to play in it. It's been a nice experience.

Any comments/criticism would be appreciated!
Thanks for watching!

Feature Requests / 2.35:1 screen layout
July 10, 2012, 01:10:25 AM
Hi, first post here. I wouldn't start a new thread so I might just add to this one as it's related.
I've been redirected from a facebook group to ask the question:
Could it be possible, when using external monitors, to get a display that "looks" like this one (not exactly, as it wouldn't be possible to have everything placed that way) but something similar. I mean, with the histogram/vectorscope down there, and some other infos placed upper and lower, in a 2.35:1 matte? And would it be possible to have the choice between, let's say, two display profiles: scope and regular 16:9 (as the placement wouldn't be the same)?

Here's what I have in mind as inspiration:

Could it be possible, or the display can't be changed?
Thanks a lot.
