not fan of the 1080p and the YT compression, but the color contrast is totally amazing.

Have you tried crop modes for 3.5 K ?

I think you can try this : exporting with Alexa Log-C preset from MLV App, and then in Resolve Davinci, with the plugin CineMatch, you can easily convert the resulted Arri Log video to a F-Log curve.

Hi guys. What is the max res that gives real-time preview on the MKIII?

all is real time.

1080P with correct framing and 2K, 4K, 5K.. are also real time but with cropped framing.

From my experience, it's easy to get continuous recording.

card spanning, 14 bit lossless selected and also 10 bits enabled on top, in 3.5K 1:1 at the maximum resolution (for me 2:20 ratio and 3584x1630)

I set up 2 display mode : one with no global drawing, and with the push of a button, one with normal framing, the record never stops, only the status dot changes from green to orange doing so, but you have to go back to no global drawing.

Nice. Is there a reason why your red lines are not centered ? like histograms on the UI ?

Very cool !

did you also carry your mini tripod too ?

Thank you !

that would help also the bug on mac catalina with the folder's « bit »

very clean, the WB shifts are a bit strange. you have no noise, it's nice.

Beautiful colors and edit ! You nailed it in the low light street scenes, but I guess the aperture at 1.4 did all the job ?

super reportage ! les gars sont passionnés !

so what was your set up ?

I do the same, 2:20 ratio, 14bits lossless in raw menu and 10 bits in movie menu (I guess it override ?) 3.5K in 3584x1630 with kill global draw option, card spanning and sd overclocked, it's marvelous.

Be sure to use a fast reader, at least USB 3.0 and "UDMA7 cards" compatible.
#14
If it's at the step of mlv app I guess it's ok. Nonetheless applying too much sharpening may introduce more aliasing on sharp details such as thin lines. But it's your personal taste that matters.

get a wider lens :)

That is, I have to switch the patching off, the SD will be slow, and I'll also have to turn card spanning off?

I'm using this card :

SanDisk Extreme PRO
170 MB/s
SDXC V30
128 GB

I'm using "Danne's" last build in 1920x1080 14 bits loss less 25 fps  No card spanning or sd patch switched on. The recording is continuous.

If you are sticking to 1080p and 14 bits lossless, you don't have to use patching, and with the type of sd and cf you are using you should be fine.
#18
I believe it has to do with using the patching (SD Overclock if I'm right). I too have some missing audio clips. I stopped using the patching option and there is no more issues.

What type of SD Card you are using ?

To simplify, this is achieved with an "anamorphic" recorded image.
(like the "5K preset" in Danne's build or like in this video where he uses the Canon 700D, it's with Bilal's build)

But to clarify, you are not necessarily free of aliasing. In my experience this depends of the process used to "desqueeze" the image.
For example if you are using MLV App, or DNGs in Davinci Resolve... the scaling algorythm is different and the result will be different too.

TBH I'm watching the youtube video with a 4K monitor and it was aliased anyway, but sure very much less in the shots in 1x3 than 3x3, but moire still present a little bit to an advised viewer's eyes.

oooh what is that ?

"Fix for no audio in spanned clips"

is it the audio bug that occurs with card spanning recording ?

The only reason is with footage less than 4K, but not for quality of the footage, just only for Youtube - > YouTube HD quality is really bad.

Agreed !
#22
not the best. better to stick to cf or a good sd, but not a micro sd in a sd adaptator
#23
yeah but the hdmi is heavily cropped in 5k mod so you're end up with a very narrow and horizontal field of view.
#24
reproductible yes.

here is 3 records attempt (the link is 2Go; is it ok for your connection ?) https://we.tl/t-Cogz5FvXHN

  • 1st clip : there is sound.
  • 2nd : no sound. I checked also with mlrawviewer, the wav generated is empty.
  • 3rd clip : there is sound

The settings :

Presets  3.5k  1:1 centered x5
RAW Video
     Resolution  3584x1630
     Aspect ratio 2:20
     Data format 14-bit lossless

I would like to add to this that sometimes there are mlv recorded in 3.5 with card spanning that end up without audio track. I don't know if it's related to card spanning or to sd_uhs with card spanning...
