I finally found the crop submenu on the experimental 4k build,

what is the meaning and purpose of the crop submenu?
for example the 3.5K 1:1 , what does it do?
and the others in  that  submenu? whats its purpose?

and why do i get a 23.975 fps, rather than 24?

thank u so much

Duplicate Questions / a few doubts
October 16, 2018, 11:46:34 PM
good day friends,
a few doubts if you can help me

- I notice that if I don't override the fps, it always goes to 29fps, why is this, I want 24fps, I set 24 on the camera, but it goes to 29, unless I override it (which takes sound out)

- if i put ML on SD card and record to a CF, even if in prefs I have preferred card CF, still wont work.  I have to install ML  to CF and record to the CF for it to record raw video properly to the CF

- I  hear about crop mode capabilities that allow to do amazing things,  I see videos where people have  a crop option in the menus but  I cant find it anywhere, I have installed experimental builds for 10 bits and etc, but where is that module?

- what CF do u recommend to record 3.5K?

thanks very much

another question if possible,
I want to record at 24fps, and yet its like the system chooses the speed arbitrarily, I get 29fps etc,
how can I set 24fps while still recording sound,
i see fps overrtide but then i get no sound it looks like
#7
all right sir, I did as you told me,
I installed the 10 bit raw firmware on the CF,
and recorded on the CF,
yes now I am not getting that problem
now I could record RAW up to around 95mb/s, so up to around 10bit Raw 2:35 . 2496x1062, thats
the maximum I can do 2496 x 1062

so now the question is,
why cant I put  ML on SD and record on the CF? is this a bug?
because its not good to record on same card  where ML is installed,  then when card gets full what do I do? and when I want to format the card, etc?

so is this a bug?
#8
all right, but forgive my ignorance, Im a newbie, there are no risks in recording video in the same card where ML is installed? (all in the CF) ?
#9
mmm,
but, I thought the advice is to always install ML on SD card, and then record video on separate CF,
#10
So I followed your advice,
installed bench module,
and ran the 1 minute R/W test, results:

Write Speed: 118 mb/s,
so its not 160, but its 118!!! certainly not 35! :)

so whats up :)
#11
what would be the correct
- Modules loaded?
- Overlays deactivated?
- LV settings?
?
#12
I just changed that CF for a completely different one,
but it keeps saying the very same thing:   Expect around 0 frames at 35.1 mb/s,
it  keeps saying this very weird 35.1 mb/s with both completely different CF cards,
this must be something related to configuration or etc, very weird
#13
This is my card below, if it says  150mb/s write speed, why wouldnt it be able to do it, I will anyway follow your advice and try to install that bench module, weird in any case

at the moment im using the  experimental 10 bit raw build, but I have also
tried with the official 5d mark iii latest stable build and others
same issue
#15
to be more precise
it's in front of my eyes

- my card is SanDisk Extreme Pro, 64GB 160 MB/s, UDMA 7, CF
- preferred card setting in prefs set to: CF

and anything raw above 1080p shows that it will skip frames and record 0, and indeed that's what happens

? help please
#16
good day friends,
I have canon 5D Mark III and a
Extreme Pro 64gb 160 mb/s,
when  I select Raw, ML says that I have 35mb/s? and then skip frames with anything above 1080p pretty much

thats crazy, I have a 160mb/s great sandisk card, why is this happening?

and yes, I do have the preferred card pref setting set to CF , and ML is  of course on  the SD

thank u
#17
thank you,
yes, I went there and I installed the
10/12-bit RAW video,
so now I can change to 10bit,
but I still see no crop mode option to choose different crops and do 3.5k raw
how do I get the crop module?

and also the other thing I dont  get,
Im using a Extreme Pro SanDisk 64GB 160Mb/s , empty card with the Mark III,
and anything above 1080p raw is skipping frames and not working well,

so how do people record 3.5k raw? I have a great card  and the mark III, and i cant shoot anything above 1080p raw

and how do I get the crop module? thank u so much

General Help Q&A / why is my card skipping frames
October 16, 2018, 06:51:12 PM
Dear forum

Im trying for the first time raw video,
Im using a 64gb card:
SanDisk Extreme PRO, 160 MB/s

in theory that should be ok for at least 3k right,
however even trying 3k is going into skipping frames and stopping after half a second,
why would that be?
thank u very much
#20
in fact inside
magiclantern-Nightly.2018Jul03.5D3123
and in the modules folder
I can see that the crop module is not there,
but this is supposed to be the latest version for the mark III right?
and I see people on the internet using the crop mode and changing bit depth to 10 bit etc,
so how do they do it?
how do I get 3.5k raw 10 bit with crop mode  and all on the mark III?
thank u so much

Dear forum
I just installed Magic lantern for the first time,
I have a 5D Mark III,

i installed this version
https://builds.magiclantern.fm/5D3-123.html

I want to try to shoot 3.5K RAW 10 bit,
my confusion is I cannot find anywhere where to activate the CROP module and change the 14bit to 10bit
its like some options are missing

did I install the right build?

what do I have to install to shoow 3.5K 10bit RAW? and to have the capability to use the CROP module and change bit depth?

thank u so much :)
