Raw Video / Re: How do I use benchmark?
May 02, 2017, 09:47:24 AM
about the apect ratio you may be right
1728 x 648 = 1119744

i in that case with my
1344 x 756 = 1016064

I am already higher in pixels as he is with
1600 х 600 = 960000

but if he uses 14bit and i use 10bit i should be able to push it still  further and in my other forum thread someone told me about the benchmark i just wanna know what that it can do and how to use it correctly without making things worse....

i tried 23.976 in canon mode as well in ML set both modes to 23.976 and i tried 25 also as well set both modes, i also tried 25 in canon and 24 in ML as well in any ways  i did not see a diffrent in rec time and yes in this video the guy did use 2 res settings the other was 1600х600 but even that is higher than what i can do... and someone even did with 600 d even in 1920 12sec so there must be a way there are plenty of videos on youtube of people who are doing it... and i'm using 10bit but some of other poeple doing it with 14bit atleast as they say... i just  want to push the limit...

Raw Video / How do I use benchmark?
May 02, 2017, 09:04:34 AM
I'm new to ML use it only since 5 weeks have written here the 4th froum thread about increasing the resolution (I want the same res. as other people have with the same cam (eos 600D) other poeole have  been able to rec  1728x648 | 1600х600 / 14bit RAW atleast in 10 - 12 sec. rec time with 600D many poeple here gave me ideas but not instructions on How to use it for example benchmark it made the recording worse not better at the moment i can record 1344 x 756 with 11 to 12 sec with benchmark i been able to get 6-8 sec. only so i turned it of....

Please tell me How to use Benchmark....

i use an SD card wich is faster than the cam can handle and it is formated in exFat.
one of the example video used for my other Forum posts is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBnKyUWzF8k

Please give me rather a step by step instructions on how to set that up instead just of ideas....
(you know a tutorial like explaination)
the more specific the better i will be able to understand

Raw Video / Re: Output resolution more Issues

Please Tell me about the benchmark i did load the module today but i have gotten behind things so i couldn't do the tests yet but how can i set it so that i get something smart out of it  (i recorded so far 1344 x 756 with 11 seconds rec. time) its way below than the sample video. I have downloaded a 2014 version but not tested yet i first wanna try to see if i can do this with this version. Raw module used is ...MLV lite v 1.1 i have MLV v2.0 as well do you think that might do better?

use srm job memory is on
extra hacks doesn't seem to exist on my version i have an option called Small hacks that is on

@DeafEyeJed
yes it is formated in exFat
the SD Card was formated inside the Camera it formats in exFat by standard...

Raw Video / Output resolution more Issues
April 24, 2017, 10:57:22 AM
After getting great help from you guys about using MLV Dump i still have an Issue not getting a Good output. I had used at least 2 diffrent example Videos now this is the 3rd one wich i found.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBnKyUWzF8k

I have a canon EOS 600D / T3i
and using an SD card just like this Guy in this VIdeo
But he Records with 14bit in a resolution of 1728x648 for at least 10sec.
i use a 10bit ML Version and cannot get higher than 1200 in resolution
even if i use 24p mode it seems not to be possible.....

Why?

This Guy has the same Cam as i do and i do have the fastest SD Card thats possible for this Cams hardware in fact i have an SD Card thats faster what the Cam can handle so i do get the Maximum out of it and still cannot do what this Guy has done....

#7
I did figure it out !

i'll do some tests and might get back later if needed

Thanks all you guys....:)
#8
o.k now i understand what you mean with drag and drop
the only thing is that the comand line will finally be:

                        mlv_dump [-o output_file] [-rscd] [-l compression_level(0-9)] <inputfile>

1.) what do i have to type into [-rscd]
2.) what compression level would be good cause if possible i want none since raw is uncompressed
3.)  [-o output_file] is not clear since it wont create a file, i would have one thats already there but what format?
4.) the only thing which is clear is the <inputfile>

#9
I don't understand.....

In CMD is no draging only typing commands so what do you mean?
#10
I got a little further....
but only a little....
This is what i get what should i choose?
and what does "-rscd" mean and what should i enter into that box?
I couldn't get an output yet...........................

Usage: mlv_dump [-o output_file] [-rscd] [-l compression_level(0-9)] <inputfile>

Parameters:
-o output_file      set the filename to write into
-v                  verbose output
--batch             output message suitable for batch processing

-- DNG output --
--dng               output frames into separate .dng files. set prefix with -o
--no-cs             no chroma smoothing (default)
--cs2x2             2x2 chroma smoothing
--cs3x3             3x3 chroma smoothing
--cs5x5             5x5 chroma smoothing
--no-fixcp          do not fix cold pixels
--fixcp2            fix non-static (moving) cold pixels (slow)
--no-stripes        do not fix vertical stripes in highlights

-- RAW output --
-r                  output into a legacy raw file for e.g. raw2dng

-- MLV output --
-b bits             convert image data to given bit depth per channel (1-16)
-z bits             zero the lowest bits, so we have only specified number of b
its containing data (1-16) (improves compression rate)
-f frames           frames to save. e.g. '12' saves frames 0 to 12, '12-40' sav
es frames 12 to 40.
-A fpsx1000         Alter the video file's FPS metadata
-x                  build xref file (indexing)
-m                  write only metadata, no audio or video frames
-n                  write no metadata, only audio and video frames

-- Image manipulation --
-a                  average all frames in <inputfile> and output a single-frame
MLV from it
--avg-vertical      [DARKFRAME ONLY] average the resulting frame in vertical di
rection, so we will extract vertical banding
--avg-horizontal    [DARKFRAME ONLY] average the resulting frame in horizontal
direction, so we will extract horizontal banding
-s mlv_file         subtract the reference frame in given file from every singl
e frame during processing
-t mlv_file         use the reference frame in given file as flat field (gain c
orrection)

-- Processing --
-e                  delta-encode frames to improve compression, but lose random
access capabilities
-X type             extract only block type
-I mlv_file         inject data from given MLV file right after MLVI header
-c                  (re-)compress video and audio frames using LZMA (set bpp to
16 to improve compression rate)
-d                  decompress compressed video and audio frames using LZMA
-l level            set compression level from 0=fastest to 9=best compression

-- bugfixes --
--black-fix=value   set black level to <value> (fix green/magenta cast). if no
value given, it will be set to 2048.
--white-fix=value   set white level to <value>. if no value given, it will be s
et to 15000.
--fix-bug=id        fix some special bugs. *only* to be used if given instructi
on by developers.

Raw Video / Need help with Good Raw
April 06, 2017, 09:30:37 PM
I have Posted recently following thread but it is not helping me at all (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=19220.msg181776#msg181776)

I tried the 10 bit Versions that only gifs me picture with collor dots all over the place ...please help me to make a crisp nice video raw with my 600D i have a fast memorie card...
i need it explaind in very details and specially advice on how to get it done (explained pleae tutorial style in details what settings i should use.

example video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VVrevGULoM

i want those results Pleaee help....
#18
@Walter Schulz
yeah you are right i just notice that this guy in the example video did not mention if he used 14,12,or 10 bit
then is that why he could do that.
I haven't found out how to turn down from 14bit yet to 10bit. Please let me know how to turn it down on Raw.....

now the other thing, the EOS 600D definatly records writingspeed on 30/mbs max. I checked  the Users manual.

However
I'm new to magic lantern Please give me any input even if it doesen't Fit this topic
I just want to make the Best out of it. :)
#19
Well sorry if I have not given that info I have a canon 600D / T3i
with a SD Card with 100/mbs XC1 U3 how can I make a 1080p video Like this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8Vzhn7q5Xk
even if  he has only be able to record 12 seconds i cannot even record one second even he has the same camera I can only
shoot 0 seconds In 1080p

I mean if I be able to turn up the resolution a Little bit  so that the image is bigger on the screen then i wouldn't mind that its croped a little.

@Walter Schulz
I think I might have missunderstood the term cropmode I ment that wenn I have tu turn the resolution down the image on the screen gets smaler and that gives me a hard time to Work with and that part is not optional, but if I could turn up the resolution then it would be o.k
Also how can i shoot with highr resolution?

@dmilligan
I have the newswest built of ML (March 12) and cannot find "crop_rec.mo"

@anyone
Please help me to make the best image quality possible.
Please give me any kind of Feedback that gets me Further.
has anyobody made ever a bigger Project with ML Using Raw?
#20
I just want the image to be bigger.......on the screen..... and rather shrink mode than cropmode...........
#21
I think you did not understand what i wrote, i ask why crop mode cannot be trurend off, you tell me to format the card. What has that to do with crop mode i mean if i format and reinstall then i have the same function so you didn't read what i wrote correctly.
I want to shoot Raw Videos without Cropmode, it is a fact that it cannot be turned off o.k I'm using the Nightly Built from March 12 and i quincidently had a new card in my mail today that i ordered so i did format that one and cropmode it cannot be turned off..........
Please give me Better Input!
#22
I whish that there should be an option to Turn off crop mode
so that it would shrink the full picture down to the set quality...

for example crop mode means that it has the same effect as Digital zoom
which means that i need to position the camera a hundred miles away from the
Actor in order to have the whole Actor in the Frame that is just
a no go
so Please make an Option to Turn off Crop mode......
