Recently shot a short vertical video for social media. shot videos and pictures simultaneously on my trusty 5D M3 with ML.

I tried anamorphic look with a cardboard cut out stuck to the back of my 50mm samyang lens but I had to shoot at f2 at all times to avoid the vignette.

The look was amazing though, it had the breathing effect and the swirling vertical bokeh in the background. I shot some test pics back then but im going to make a new cutout and try to shoot at f2.8...

My latest personal project shot with my good ole 5D mark 3 with Samyang 50mm 1.4 on a Zhiyun crane 2 and voice recorded with the Zoom H1n..

I uploaded prores 422 but the video has lost some sharpness but that's YT I guess, ..

Pretty new to sound recording/editing so there might be a few things here and there...

Really nice job. Classic 5D3 ML raw look with the sharp picture and rich colours.

Did you use a LUT in Resolve? I've sort of starting defaulting to Hunter's 3D LUT, but I'm curious to hear what other people are using.

Thank you andrew_dotdot,  I think hunters LUT is too old now, I just use the option to interpret footage as blackmagic log in raw tab of DR.

@anandkamal, haha yes, and Thank You!   I shot this with 24-105L lens.

The workflow -- MLV converted to dng using mlvfs in Mac, then converted to log along with some basic corrections in Davinci resolve and exported as prores. editing and final output in FCpX

Unfortunately there is a lot of different sad stories like this all over the world. Thanks for filming to attract notice.
So I loved the images, angles etc. I think it would be better if you use more macro lenses. More details more meaning..hands will have told the story with macro lens

Thank You @eraizgn, yes there are even worse things happening to women in India, so I'm quite happy to help in some way for them. 

About the lenses, yes I should have shot certain shots with a lens of higher focal length but I shot this with a 24-105 lens on a gimbal so had the setup stabilized at 35mm. I did not have much time to shoot and also the lady was quite nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera so I had to do it without being too hard on her.

Shot on Canon 5d m3 with 24-105 lens and Zhiyun crane v2,  voiceover recorded with an iphone 6s inside a car

Converted the MLV files with MLVFS and graded/edited in Davinci Resolve Studio 14.

Beautifully shot and graded!  You should try using a zhiyun crane, you can move without the jitters..

Thank You Cmcullum, i'm glad you liked it!   I converted the color space of the video to bmd film and then applied M31 lut, decreased the opacity of it and played around with the curves , color wheels. I'm a newbie to resolve and color grading, so i just winged it.

So I've shot my first personal project using ML and Its been quite an experience, I really learned a lot.

Have you tried another player? Test: https://mpv.io
If nothing works, try other conversor, so you can be sure it's handbreak breaking your file...
Alternativelly, use a codec other than prores just this time, and use handbreak after. If it's the same result, handbreak is the issue. If it's normal, them your prores did something wrong.

Hi bpv5P, Thank you so much for trying to help, I've found that VLC is the culprit!   I did many compression tests using handbrake and compressor, but the colors were always mucked in VLC. I decided to try uploading it to youtube and everything was good. Now i've uploaded it to Vimeo and things are fine!

What color space are you using on Resolve? Handbrake will probably use rec.709. See if you changed the gamma settings, also.
Have you checked the prores archive to see if it's already with color grading? It might be a bug in Resolve too.

Hi bpv5P, the color space in resolve is set to rec 709 and gamma 2.4.  In the master project settings, the color science is set to davinci YRGB.

Just now, I looked up the info of the compressed file by right clicking it, and theres a small preview on the bottom, the colors are good in that preview, the colors are mucked up only when I play it in VLC

Hi Kharak,  the data levels in render settings is set to auto, the data level in project settings is set in video. 

Hey guys, I shot a raw video, converted MLV to Dng and used them it to edit and grade in davinci Resolve, then I exported to prores 4444 final output. I compressed the video for youtube using handbrake but the result breaks my heart. It ends up being desaturated and high contrast, nothing like how it is in resolve but it looks good when I import the compressed h264 video into resolve. I'm also adding screenshots.

I think I saw a video in the forum that was shot on 2k in 50fps using the crop mode, i cant find it again. If its possible, could you please give me instructions on how to settings to shoot that?

Hey, guys, I'm an ML noob here. Just reinstalled ML and I want to shoot wide in crop mode at 50/60p but I can't find the crop mode option. I have the april 27 2017 nightly build.

Do I have to change anything in the canon menu? Please help.

Hii Walter,  yes I use a cf card to record the raw video, I mentioned that I lost the SD card on which ML is installed.

If I remember correctly, I think I deleted the ML files off the sd card a few months ago and the camera froze, I panicked and removed the battery. a few months later now, I lost that Sd card as well.

I want to start shooting raw now so do you suggest I just copy the nightly build files to a new sd card and put it in the camera?

Hey guys I was using ML on my 5d m3 V1.2.3.  I stopped shooting for a few months and now I've lost mt sd card.

What should I do now to start shooting ML again? 

I'd also like to know if I can upgrade camera firmware to 1.3.3 or 1.3.4.
