Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer: [v3151]
September 29, 2017, 01:49:58 PM
Exported audio is desynchronized. It begins in a middle, then in middle of timeline start from begginig and ends in middle. If I count during recording 123456789 it exports like 678912345. Recorded on 70D with ML 2017Aug21.70D112 Any suggestion how fix it?

So... 5D3 and 700D has 4K RAW now (almost), while 70D is still in beta? Why? Just question.

if u shoot 720p, edit in 720p timeline. it wil make your computer run smoothly. after u finish editing xport in 1080p/2.5k or whatever u prefer... make sure u do proper setting while exporting in premiere pro. premiere pro or after effects gives better results then davinci resolve lite in my test.
Can I see your test somewhere?

never do editing in 1080p/2.5k time by upscaling your 720p footage. i dont know what NLE u use. i use premiere pro cc.
I also use Premiere PRO CC. How should I edit project from 720p footages? Upscale during rendering if not just upscaling to 1080p project?

Alright, I'll give it try... I'm really curious about 1080p h264 vs upscaled 720p raw. Of course colours and dynamic range would be better, but what about details, crop-get-around and moiré... I think I have plans for next weekend=) Thanks.

why dont u shoot 720P @24fps continous with sound. shooting 720P raw, editing in 720 timeline adn  rendering in 1080p is way better than shooting 1080p h264 atleast in my test

Actually that is good point. I have to try it. Unfortunately sound of mlv files start in a middle of timeline, don't know why. Sync in post is very time consuming.

EDIT: Well I realised that 720P is not an option because of crop.

Wut? ??? Thanks, btw...

There are few graded footages I get this weekend by Canon 70D... I love the results. Colour grading of ProRes 4:4:4 is so damn good and enjoyable. However I'm not able to use it in professional work. Limitations are simply not enough. 13 sec of continuous RAW footages in 1824x776/25FPS without sound - that's not enough. So I will probably sell my Canon gear and lenses and go for Sony a6300. I'm worry about photography (DSLR is DSLR) but hey... 4K with gamma logs and almost no moiré, 120FPS FullHD... 80D is not even close to this, new 5DIV is also disappointing for me. Canon simply force me to not like them=(

EDIT: Maybe 5DIII with ML would be option too, because of lenses...

I want convert over 100 RAW files to MOV with Log-C. Is it possible to do it in bulk or I have to do it separately? Thanks.

Delete ML directory, delete autoexec.bin and copy extracted build contents to card and retry. Load Silent.mo only. No other module.
Nothing happens. Still same message about M mode (which I have).

Lil' bit misleading but set your ISO to a manual value, too:

It is, I never use auto ISO.

I cannot take full-resolution silent pictures. It say's "Full-resolution pictures only works with M (manual) photo mode", which I have. Even switch to manual/AF not works.

Hi Thobias,

On your second question, I use C mode for my video work and M for most of my photography.  C retains my video settings like shutterspeed, ISO and most importantly picture profile, while M keeps me more in a photography setting.  Additionally since I shoot with a flat, desharpened picture profile (technicolor), I also use the mode specific settings option in ML so that when I turn on my camera in C and Movie mode, it has my movie specific settings including contrast, saturation, and sharpening in Digic turned on and when I boot the camera in M and photography mode it turns these off and uses my more photography specific settings in ML.  I also then keep settings in C and photography for when I am wanting to shoot timelapse.

Discovering how to utilize these mode specific settings really improved the usability of ML for me now that I use more and more in ML.

Thanks for this tip! I actually never used other modes than M, AV and Tv. So now I know what is C mode good for=)

I have two questions (probably about ML generally)...

1. It is possible to turn on magic zoom only on manual focusing, but is it also possible to automatically turn magic zoom off after few seconds of inactivity with manual focus?
2. Is it possible to set different default shutter speed, ISO and aperture for switching to Live View mode? I usually take pictures on M with higher ISO and shutter speed than in video mode and it is frustrating to change these parameters every time I switch to live view and back.

Thanks.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: MLVProducer for Windows

Just an idea that you can implement (shouldn't be hard to implement it)  :) ... Ability to import DNG sequence, make edits and export it (to ProRes or whatever). It would be helpful when I have a lot exported DNG files without original RAW/MLV files.

Dude, buy UV filter with antireflex layer. Cheap ones do not have it.

I'd like to give a big shout-out to Thobias for bringing the issue to Adobe's attention, rather than just complaining about how terrible Adobe is for not fixing something that they weren't aware of.

Cheers to you, Thobias!!!
You're welcome! It mean also a lot for me, so I know that just complaining usually not works ;)

According to Eric Chan (Camera Raw Engineer) problem with importing DNG files to Adobe products that contain meta-data from EOS 70D will be fixed soon!

That mean we will be able to use MLV and post-edit DNG footages directly in Adobe products. Wonderful!

Thanks for update!

Is it safe to keep my setting files of previous version of ML and update just core files on SD cards? If not, any way how transfer settings from previous version?

Btw, latest version of Camera RAW and Adobe DNG Converter (9.3) released 2 days ago is still not able to open DNG files that contain metadata from 70D=(

Any chance to get in future possibility to change h.264 bitrate?
#21
I've tested RAW and old Cenon FD 35mm f/2.8 for very first time. Just trying to get into work-flow and possibilities of this camera. Pro/cons of RAW and default h.264 are very specific, especially in post.

I third that. Please, add 70D to list. Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, how many people here have actually contacted Adobe to report this issue?  Honestly, they can't fix that which they don't know is a global issue.  I'm just as bad about this as the next guy/gal, but if we don't all report it, we really have no place complaining about Adobe's customer service and development model.  And if only one person reports this bug, it won't even register to them.  It has to be seen that it is affecting multiple customers.

That being said, let's all go and report it now, so we can be part of the solution. :)
