Hi, guys.
Can you tell me if there's any benefit to upgrading to the new 1.1.2 firmware?
I mean besides fixing the Lens aberration correction issue with those two EF-S lenses described in the release.

@xsghost
anyway, i think ml is amazing and still contend canon should buy the guys and turn this into a full fledged officially supported product offering to really exploit the canon hw.

Yeah.. that's never gonna happen.. Canon can exploit it's hardware, but they want you to buy the more expensive stuff for better features, like the Cxxx cameras.

I never heard of the GH4 shooting RAW.

I think the main benefits of shooting RAW on Canon DSLRs is having a better image quality than the processed ALL-I. And of course more color data, and dynamic range.

Of course if stock footage and shooting RAW would be my priorities, I'd rather get a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with a very wide M4/3 lens. It's the same price as a 70D ;)

ML content ~~ I'll be surprised if this issue turns out to be ML Related.

Oh! It's ML related alright..
Since installing the 31st of may build, I've had these 2 incidents happen to me:

1. While recording h264 video, i opened the ML menu to disable the extra sharpening of display feature. When I got out of the menu, the black bars above and bellow the video had become translucent (video was still recording). When I stopped recording, and then turned recording back on, the "Recording was stopped automatically" message was displayed and wouldn't go away. Turning the camera off from the switch did not turn the camera off. I had to quickly pull out the battery, and then restarted it (it was during a paid gig). It worked fine after that, but I took great care not to access the ML menu while recording any more.

2. I was recording and I had the "Card full" message pop up. So I turned the camera off, and changed the card to a fresh empty one (that had the same build of ML on it; yes, I'm sure it was the same build, I had installed the same build of ML on all my cards at the same time, like I always do when a new build comes out). Anywho, so I put the fresh card in, and turn on the camera, but the display remains black, buttons do nothing, only the card LED lights up. Start sweating, turn the camera back off and on again, same thing. Camera off, pull out the battery, put battery back in, camera on, same thing. My face started going through all the colors. After repeating the pulling out the battery thing for a few times, it had finally started up like nothing happened. I don't know why...

I installed ML version A on my 70d the other day.  I haven't tried everything as yet but most of it seems to work.  The only thing I find missing are the audio level meters, may be this has already been mentioned but I couldn't find anyone referring to them.  I have only just joined this forum so forgive me if I'm going over 'old ground'.  Will they be included in future up-dates or are they hidden and I can't find them ?

There is no audio for this version of ML. And who knows what the future holds?..

has anyone tried slow motion 60fps with ML, if you can only get a minute i assume you can only slow mo for 30 seconds?

debating if i want to install this might be the one to push me over the edge...

How does one do slow motion 60fps with ML? Are you talking about fps override?

Thanks to @nikfreak for the updates.

MZ seems to be much more solid and the mini screen doesn't flicker anymore. Good job!

FP seems to have a little improvements although not a big fan of this feature (MZ seems easier to get in focus) again it depends on the situation (because I sometimes like it) hehe.

AK seems to work well other than its weird Canon overlay contents that comes up as I scroll through in between categories within AK.

wtf is AK? Andrew Kramer?

I was talking about SPalarius's orientation. Something may have gotten lost in translation. Anyway, back to the 70D..

If you understand that I do not, there is an instruction but it is outdated and does not fit 70 d, and that would be desirable that the transfer was. why not do the translation camera in their language, and also the firmware in the language, because all users will be convenient and understandable. I do not think that all the lines speak good English language.

How long (or to what temperature) is safe for recording video?

In 10 minutes it is already red zone - 60 degrees Celsius.

That number is not the real temperature, and even if it was, it doesn't matter, as the camera has a warning come on in the form of a thermometer icon when the temperature is too high, and if you ignore it, it stops recording. So shoot away.
I've shot for several hours without stop and the warning never even came on.

friends!
Please forgive me for this question :)
I use with ML SANDISK Extreme Pro SDXC 32GB UHS Class 1 95Mb / s
I want to buy SANDISK Extreme Pro SDXC 64GB UHS Class 1 95Mb / s
because now capture RAW was not enough space
The card 64 has no problems with the work of the ML on 70D?
tnx

64GB card works just fine, but you will have to make it bootable with the EOScard.exe tool in order to install Magic Lantern on it.

I absolutely love having magic lantern on my 70D but until the overheating issue is resolved I can't risk it. I keep reading responses saying that its just the readout display being wrong due to yadayadayada. In the last four weeks I covered several concerts and before running the lantern on it I had no issue with overheating and the camera shutting down. but i did have trouble with focusing, hence the magic. Now with the lantern installed I only got half way through the concert when it over heated reading 70C. The camera was hot in my hand and I took the battery out and it was real hot. Putting another batt in seemed to cool it down a touch, enough to run a while longer before over heating again. There is absolutely an issue with the temperature when running magic lantern on the 70D. I have it on a t2i and it runs all day flawlessly no over heating or anything. Unfortunately I will have to remove the lantern for now. I hope that the devs can address this problem. 70d does not over heat when running without the magic of the lantern. Thanks for all the hard work guys.

msummers1, it's pretty clear to me that it's just a psychological issue you're confronting with. Seeing that 70C written there in red makes you think the camera is overheating, but in reality the camera gets just as hot with or without magic lantern. As long as you don't get the little thermometer icon from the Canon firmware flashing on your screen and then having the camera shut down, you shouldn't worry too much about it.
I shoot events, so I record about 8-9 hours a day. I at times have the camera recording for 3 hours at a time with only a 10 second brake in the middle while I change to a new pair of batteries. No overheating whatsoever. Running ML all this time.

Ok confirmed as not to be working. Trying to fix it later. As far as I recall I also played around with gui button definitions. Looks like I missed those while committing above.

Sweet! Thanks, a lot, nikfreak! Can't wait to have that working :D

and also still wating for a fix to be able to use Arrow Key functions (there's no buttons configured to enabled it)

Yeah, using those arrow key functions would be great. those are the only reason us videographers are using ML on DSLRs, to overcome their shortcomings and turn them into proper video cameras.
Those other features of ML are cute and all, but come on, I want to be able to control the camera settings while recording.

How does one tell what 70D version he has?
#17
Is there a way we could have these 2 paramount features working for the 70D also:
-Enable D-Pad to control WB and ISO while recording, like on the regular version of ML
-Display Rec Time and Remaning Rec Time on screen while recording, like on the old 2.3 ML?

I feel these 2 little things are what enables ML to transform the Canon DSLR into a powerful video camera. These are the places in which the Canon firmware lacks.
And I'm no programming savvy, but intuitively I feel these 2 issues, which were present and working on older ML versions, should be relatively easy to address in the 70D version. Right?

Hi, I cannot find the audio settings menu in ML for 70D, can anyone tell me where it is hidden in the menus ?
Thanks a lot,
Eric

There is no audio submenu and no audio settings in this version of ML yet. You have  to control audio from the canon menu.

So I just installed ML on my 70D and I'm looking at the functions for arrow keys (ISO, WB), but I can't toggle the function to come on. It says I should use the LIGHT key, but pressing it does nothing while recording, and it just toggles the.. lcd light in liveview. Is there something I'm missing, or is it just not working yet?

Also, i'm missing the display of the rec time, or remaining rec time while recording.
And the DigitalZoom shortcut (1x,3x) that I grew accustomed to on my 600D.
