Also, wondering if the brand of SD card matters. I'm using this card.

Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon EOS M

Have tried the July 3 nightly build, but when I try mv1080, LiveView goes nuts and the video always stops recording immediately (showing a list of corrupt frames). Danne: Could you please list the exact settings you used to pull off mv1080? I turn AF off, crop mode on (set to mv1080), and then I set CBR to 0.1x, bit rate to 14, ratio to 1:2, and h.264 proxy on as you mention in a previous post. Still...nada. Also turned "small tweaks" off. Q: Does the SD card hack need to be on? Do I also need to turn off RAW sound?

Just wondering if someone can share screenshots of their relevant movie settings. Mine are attached.

Thanks much. Be blessed today.

I did reply in the other thread

dmilligan: Hadn't seen your post in the other thread before writing my previous message. Mea Culpa. Thanks much for taking the time to post your command lines. Huge help.

So, have managed to get MLVFS installed in Ubuntu 17.04. Now trying to figure out how to run it.  My browser won't open the gui at <http://localhost:8000/>, and I'm not sure what the instructions mean by "specifiy the f switch." Again am a total newb at using terminal to run programs, but once I figure it out, I'll be fine.

Anywho, thanks again for helping me to get the program installed. I really appreciate it.

Any reason you did not switch to MLVFS yet? http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=13152.0;topicseen

Yes, actually. I haven't been able to compile the source code to use with linux. Not familiar enough with terminal to generate MAKE commands. Got as far as installing FUSE and unzipping the MLVFS master folder in my downloads folder. That's it. Would love if someone would share a step-by-step of the actual terminal commands they typed to get MLVFS up and running in ubuntu 17.04. As I mentioned in a separate thread, I'm pretty good at substituting my own values in existing commands to navigate my way around terminal, but I'm just not far along enough yet to generate entire commands from scratch. Embarrassing, I know, but it's where I am.  Would appreciate any guidance anyone could give me. Licaon_Kter: Do you use the Linux version of MLVFS by any chance?  :  )

Jusy wondering if MLRawViewer can 2x2 chroma-smooth dngs during the conversion process. If so, how does one make it do this?

Hi, relative newb to terminal commands in Ubuntu 16.04. Just wondering if someone who's installed MLVFS on Linux successfully can share their step by step command lines? As per the app's installation instructions, I've already installed FUSE, and also have an unzipped MLVFS Master File ready to go in my downloads folder. Just not sure how to compile from the command line using MAKE. I see this example in the Installation ReadMe:

<< mlvfs <mount point> --mlv_dir=<directory with MLV files>  >>

Just wondering if any Linux users out there can cut and paste their actual terminal command lines? Am decent at cutting and pasting my own values over existing templates, but am still not all that well-versed in generating original terminal commands from scratch.

To date, have been able to run most of my ML programs (MLV Mystic, MLRawViewer, etc.) via wine, but alas, no can do with MLVFS. Help?

Good to know. Thanks much for taking the time to respond. Be blessed today.

Guess I'm wondering if ML's fps override feature renders the camera's CINESTYLE picture style inactive, or if CINESTYLE is still being applied to the RAW video footage.
#9
Just wondering. If I'm shooting MLV Raw and use fps override, do I need to set my camera's picture style setting to something like NEUTRAL or FAITHFUL? Currently have my EOS-M's default picture style set to CINESTYLE, but I'm wondering if this is counterproductive to shooting RAW video using ML. Thanks.

Take a look at this calculator of mine:
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=14909.0

1728 is actually the limit of what the EOS-M can record, it is already using the whole width of the APS-C sensor with 3x5 sampling. The calculator will allow you to see what the practical and theoretical limits of the EOS-M and other cameras are.

Very nice, rbrune. Very nice indeed. Thanks much. Thought I'd seen just about every ML forum out there; don't know how I missed your crop factor calculator thread.

Hi, any M owners out there with updated raw video capability info? Am using the new U3 SD cards from SanDisk and Transcend, and it seems I've been able to pull fairly decent resolutions. My highest continuous record for 2:39:1 at 23.97 fps is currently 1728x434 (using MLV RAW w/sound). Still nowhere near CF, and still limited by the M's 40MB write speed, but at least it seems to be an improvement. Just wondering what resolutions other M owners are pulling these days. Also wondering if most of the M info on Roman's most excellent raw capability chart still applies. Thoughts?

Hi. Have searched the forums but haven't been able to find an answer to this particular problem I'm having with .MLV footage shot on an EOS-M.

No matter what settings I use, I always end up with this mysterious horizontal band of pink noise on my footage (about every tenth frame or so). It always appears in the same place, running from left to right along the top border of the frame. I don't get this pink noise in standard ML RAW or in h.264, only in .MLV. Problem is, I prefer .mlv because I want on-board sound with my RAW.

Here's a sample shot of the problem:

Anyone know what might be causing this? Or is there anything I can do to correct it? Not thinking the issue is my hardware, SD card, or Mac, as I have zero problems converting straight ML RAW or ML h.264 files to ProRes via MLRawViewer. The problem seems unique to .MLV. Am I doing something wrong? Would appreciate any help anyone could give me, and I apologize if someone covered this already in another thread. Thanks.
