Thanks for your answer.
I had it only once, since switching between on and off mode hasn't any effect.

The SD card was formated since it happened. To run the display test I just have to put the auto ex.bin on the sd  card and insert it in the camera right ? I'm afraid it won't do anything since the camera led doesn't react anymore when I insert an SD card.

Hi,

I have encountered an issue with my 70D and ML. I was using it and it suddenly showed an error 80, turned off and since this moment I have not been able to power it on again.

I've got a log on the SD card :
ASSERT: FALSE
at ./ImagePlayer/ImagePlayer.c:2087, task CtrlSrv
lv:0 mode:3

Magic Lantern version : Nightly.2016Apr23.70D111A
Mercurial changeset   : 591ba5bf7c75 (70D-merge) tip
Built on 2016-04-23 19:23:06 UTC by ml@ml-VirtualBox.
Free Memory  : 225K + 1937K

I think it's important to precise that there was some files on the SD card that were not readable by the camera, such as two .prproj, at the time of the bug.

I've tried of course to remove the battery, the SD, wait for 24h... nothing seems to work, the led isn't even getting on when  i put a charged battery in the camera.

I come here to have a few advices before resigning myself to send it back to canon, even if the warranty time is over.

I will take any informations, thanks :)

I'm surely being too much optimistic, it will probably not happen, but even with hardware limits there could be solutions to get over it, they have not been found yet, and maybe they will never be. Hardware limits can be overridden; no jack output on 60D ? ML team found a solution. Of course this and the 60fps issue are totally different, but the fact is, even if all things considered i agree with your point, I'm just not as categorical about an uncompromising impossibility.

I wouldn't say impossible; a few years before shooting in RAW with ML was considered as impossible and "Would it be possible to shoot in raw with ML ?" had the same type of categorical response.

It's not possible yet, and no one is trying to achieve it yet, but one day, who knows ? Don't be categorical, the people working on ML are doing an amazing job and I'm sure that in the future they'll achieve things they think impossible right now.

Does bitrate work with someone ?

We can indeed modify the value and use the "up to 3.0x mode", but it doesn't seem to change anything :

- recorded two 5sec clips of the same scene, one with 1.0x and 3.0x, and they're the same size
- when you activate the bitrate info on liveview it shows the same values for 1.0 and 3.0.

Once more thanks a lot for this version

Another strange thing :

shutter speed value shown by ML in video doesn't match with the value shown by the LCD screen on the top of camera :

ML shows 1/27 when camera says 1/30, then 1/32 for 1/40, 1/40 for 1/50, 1/50 for 1/60 etc... like if there was a gap of one stop between the two, is it normal ?

All right so i installed ML on my 70D, thanks a lot for your work nikfreak, really, it's nice to see some people giving their time for the community.

Here's my return :

-Is it normal that The "Audio" and "Expo" do not appear in the menu ? Or maybe i missed something, it's my first use of ML.

- Focus Peaking : OK tried with different settings and it worked great.

- Intervalometer : NOT OK I tried to set it in photo mode, then when i go back to liveview, after 3sec, no picture is taken, and the different buttons do not respond, i need to turn the camera off/on.

- 3.0x bitrate : seems OK

- REC Key : OK

-HDR video : don't know how to activate it, asks for manual iso.

- Ghost picture : OK, the image flickers a little when you set the image you want to use, for 1sec and then it is ok.

- Strange thing : my 18-35 1,8 is detected as 61-138 on the left bottom of the screen. And even if i change the aperture value the only value on the screen is f/1.7

I'll do more tests this weekend, it's the only way i can help, I have no competences in coding.

Yeah enabling wifi during video would be great, even if its only with H264, really helpful for the ones using steadycam for example, it would allow to use the touchscreen functions without having to actually touch the camera and unbalance the whole thing.

Good to know !

I think there're a lot a new possibilities with this 70D, even if it is limited by the use of SD cards for RAW video, compared to 7D's/5d's. I often need to edit my videos really quickly, and RAW needs too much time and a more complicated workflow compared to H264, so shooting in raw not my main concern for the 70D. But still an amazing thing.

yeah and according to the camera Help it seems to concern the speed of the subject, saying that +1 or +2 values will suitable for fast and sudden moves of the subject, but it doesn't modify the AF speed.

Among the testers of the early 70D ML, Has anyone succeeded in using the focus peaking ? I'm very interested by this function.

Another thing : Could it be, at least theoretically speaking, to modify the AF properties in video ? For example its speed; Dual pixel af is very fast, but sometimes it's even too much. If it was possible to make it slower, it would allow smoother focus transition in this mode.

For example I find the focus transitions of the GH4 AF much smoother : https://vimeo.com/96882002

Of course the GH4 is not as accurate as the 70D for continuous AF, so we can see in the vid that the GH4 af sometimes goes forward and backward the subject, but transitions are still a bit smoother due to its slowness.
