I enjoy viewing the film very much. Could you share the Intervalometer + Auto ETTR + FRSP technique for time-lapse shooting ore in detail? Also did you use the 16:9 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio?

Thanks!

After I converted MLV files with MLVFS the dng files are only available in the MLVFS Mount folder for a little while then they all disappear so i have to do the conversion again. Is it normal?

Hi,

I really enjoy watching the film and you did a great job! I also learned a lot from the following posts you did. One thing I would like to know is that what kind of rig did you use with 5D MarkIII when you shot the film, like any stabilizer equipment used, on tripod or handheld, etc.

Thanks,

John

Thanks for the effort to figure it out and well like you said that is the beauty of the raw shooting: I can adjust to whatever I want. Maybe shooting a color chart and do the match in Resolve will be the best solution.

OK. Here is the Dropbox link for the original MLV clip and a dng file from MLVFS. The clips was shot on a sunny day with Auto WB. Let me know what can you figure out.

I just found out if I set the 5DIII WB other than Auto the MLVFS can read the set WB correctly but when I set it to Auto WB for some reason the DNG file from MLVFS always has the WB 3150K (very blue) no matter what the actual WB is. Can MLVFS understand Auto WB or I miss something?

Thanks for any comments.

Thanks for the reply. I used the Canon 5D Mark III and I set the WB as Auto. The WB should be around 5900K but the file from MLVFS has 3200K when it is opened in Resolve. I can adjust it for sure but just feel something wrong in the setting of the MLVFS. I would love to upload the MLV file for you to check and just tell me how to do so.

HI,

I got the MLVFS to work on my iMac and imported the DMG to Resolve 11. The problem I have is that all the raw clips turned way too blue and I have to adjust the white balance quite a bit. i don't know why as if I converted the MLV with MIRawViewer the white balance is normal. Could you help?

Thanks!

I have two questions and hope someone more experienced on this forum can help me out.

1. I can't get the auto ISO working on any of the exposure modes on the camera when I shoot MLV. On original 5d Mark III video mode the auto ISO works. Does this function work on ML?

2. Is there a way to save the MLV video shoot setting so I can recall the setting just like the custom modes on the original 5D Mark III?

Thanks a lot and have a wonderful holiday!

General Help Q&A / Re: h264.ini - how it really works?
December 15, 2014, 03:20:18 AM
I have the same issue. I use 5d mark III 1.2.3 and used to be able to adjust bit rate but now I only get the message: ML/h264.ini not found. I even don't know what is the bit rate I am shooting right now. Can anyone help? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the comparison and I don't see the big difference as the viewer is too small. Also curious how do you make the  video with the line sliding through the picture? Did you shoot two clips simultaneously? Thanks!

Very nice video and I love it a lot! I have one simple question: you mentioned you used RawMagic Lite to convert the raw footage to dng. But as I shoot MLV the RawMagic Lite does not work with the MLV file. Have you used MIRawViewer to make the conversion?

Thanks a lot!

Beautiful film and I love it! Could you share with some shooting details, like what resolution, frame rate, post production, etc? Thanks!

I just start to shoot Magic Lantern raw video on Canon 5D MarkIII. For the post work, I just wonder what is the main difference between color grading the footage in Photoshop Camera Raw then import the sequenced jpeg or tiff clips to FCP X verse do that part in Resolve 11 Lite?

Hi everyone.

I am new to ML on 5d MarkIII and I just have a few questions on shooting 60fps on 5d mark III. On my ML 5d MarkIII the FPS override is disabled and how to enable it? I shot some 1920x672 60fps clips and got the squashed images. You mentioned you fixed the issue in AE. I just wonder can I just make an action in PP and get the same result? For the post after I grade the images in ACR can I just use Quicktime sequence or FCP to assemble the single jpeg images to a video clip instead of all the other softwares you mentioned?

Thanks a lot!
