Bilal + Danne is one hell of a team! Thanks, guys!

Danne you da man!

Hi Bilal. I always enable Kill Global Draw get more reliability and continuous recording. I noticed that the different modes react differently to KGD, for example: 3x1 modes display an accurate preview on all aspect ratios with and without KGD, whereas 3x3 will ALWAYS display a full sensor preview (3:2) with KGD, no matter what aspect is picked, turning the preview unusable when Kill Global Draw is enabled.

I observed that the KGD preview will work great whenever the aspect ratio is chosen via the Crop Mood menu, but will not when the aspect must be selected from the RAW Video menu (which leads me to the conclusion that RAW Video simply overlays black bars to the preview in order to show the correct aspect, a task that is killed by KGD).

I know this is not a great deal to be bothered by, but since the HFR 3x3 modes are displayed correctly with and without KGD enabled, would it be a simple task to do the same for the regular 1080p previews?

If this is not as simple as it seems, please just ignore my whining.

And thanks a lot for all you did!

Oh you'll see about reponsiveness ;)

Any news about the crowd funding yet? We're amped up! (Iknow I am)

More people share my gratitude:

"Just updated to the latest-latest that was posted an hour ago and it is BRILLIANT. I now has near instant 10x focus aid on 1080P that immediately switches back to LV.
Danne I LOVE U BRO! Thanks so much!"

All bugs seem fixed! I couldn't replicate any of the quirks described by Gabriel. Awesome work!
I'm most impressed with the high framerate modes. I don't know what sorcery you did, but besides now working at full 3x3 (1736x976) at 40 fps (!), everything feels way more responsive. 2.35to1 at 48fps works super smoothly, no pink frames, no freezes... just a joy to work with slow motion now!

Very excited right now 8)

WOW! This is awesome! Working like a charm! I rely heavily on the 10x zoom to pull focus so this new trick is super welcome.
Zoom feature is improved on all modes, especially on 1:1 where it is almost instantaneous.

The only quirk I found is that sometimes half shutter fails to enter zoom in 1080p or 5k. This peculiarity didn't happen in older builds.
Attached a video to demonstrate.

Again, thanks for this!

Thanks for everything, Danne. You're legend!

Checking the test videos, I do notice this new build gives a 0.4 sec advantage on 3:1 modes over the old build. It's not as great as the 700D, but it is a welcome advantage nevertheless.

I spent some hours testing today's build doing a side by side comparison (2 eosMs).
As I understand, this new development supposedly "works in all 1x3 presets and 1920x1280p 1:1 preset".

Sadly, however,  this new build provides little to no advantages over October's build regarding the 10x zoom feature on the M, unlike the 700D where it seems to work fine. It enters the 10x zoom mode almost instantly (just like the older build), but upon release of half shutter, it still takes a couple of seconds to return to live view, albeit slightly differently than before (screen goes black earlier than older build).

I'm uploading a short video with the comparison tonight.

Thanks! Glad to know you guys still find time to fiddle with the eosM!

off to testing...

Thanks Bilal.

Okay I was just confused if your screenshot instructions would have something totally new I have missed :D 5,2k quality is brutal ! If it would be possible to get at least centered and lets say 80% of the real fov this would be insane

You can get it centered almost perfectly by tapping on screen arrows. First turn off "tap display" on custom buttons (otherwise it wont work). Then put the preview in real time ant tap the arrows until it matches the real framing preview. You can get is perfectly centered horizontally. Vertically, you will get very close, just a bit skewed towards the top.

Yes, 8bit possible but there will be tearing regardless if color or b&w.

:o Really now? I wonder what the difference in size would be from 10bit...

So, I've been testing the hell out of my Samsung Pro plus 128gb micro. I get constant recording at around 70MB/s. Green pretty much all the time. On ML benchmark it goes above 90MBs every time, usually around 94MBs. No matter how much I tried, I experienced no drops to 20MBs like I did before the 15th build. Now 240mhz seems very stable even after long clips, no significant overheating either.

People, I think this is it. This is the build. I don't remember feeling this excited since Danne pulled MCM rewire! Good job, Bilal!

Side note: I wonder if other than 14, 12 and 10 bit, it would be possible to choose 8bit... in cases where the end product would be B/W and color depth is not paramount. I know this is off topic, just a curiosity.

Hm, I do believe the code for 192Mhz is the same from september 15th. Maybe I missed something. Anyway. I´ll wait for a few more reports.
What camera by the way?
Yes, in fact, before these new developments, I was stuck with 160MHz for the samsung card to work (192 didn't work)
I'm on the M.  getting 93MBs write speed on benchmarking.

Samsung Pro Plus 128GB. With the original hack, the card would be very unreliable. I managed to pull 240Mhz speed only for a few seconds before it reverted to 20MB/s. 192Mhz was also unreliable. With the 15th of September build, however, it seems the card is very stable at 240MHz. I can shoot for minutes non stop, even in 2.8k!! This was unthinkable just a few months back! Needless to say I'm excited...

I was afraid that might be the case  :'(
well, if it is of interest to anyone I'll keep posting here for any further development (display replacement, unexpected fix...)

thanks a1ex and all ML developers for turning these otherwise rather lame cameras into little powerhouses!

As I feared I'm back at point zero. i.e.: camera with ML card - red LED blink and nothing else.   camera without ML card - green LED blink and nothing else.
During the 2 days it worked I would occasionally get errors like it suddenly turning off or the display going dark while the camera kept working (I could still take pictures or shoot videos even if nothing showed up on the screen).
now I'm re-running the deblink to check if anything changed.

say, that loop at the end of the deblink I posted (disable power save / enable power save); isn't that strange? the errors I was getting (dark display, turning off) seemed as if the camera was mistakenly going into power save mode.

My internet connection was down for a couple of days so I went on troubleshooting the eos m and made a PDF with snapshots and the progress I made.

will also post some screenshots here soon.

today I am having better luck  with the blinker. will be posting screenshots soon. (is it ok to send them via mediafire? I don't know how to post pictures here in the forum)

http://www.mediafire.com/download/8blueag7jxvah6l/New+folder.rar

these are the screens I captured.  after that first lucky time (VRAM5.PPM) I couldn't again make it work even if I used the same exposure (f2.0 - iso 6400 - shutter 640).

in the meantime the camera somehow turned on a couple of times and I could use it normally. if it happens again is there anything I can do that would help?
#23
 :o :o :o It worked!!
I'll try and save a snapshot every time the screen is full. good news is that the M doesn't seem to get tired and goes beyond the 15 minutes merrily blinking away.

I must confess it is quite exhilarating to watch this dead camera using its secondary processor to talk about "the other side" via a blinking LED while I hold 3d glasses in front of it to filter the green signals... kudos to you a1ex!

tried with blue and red filter. no message.

here is a short clip of how the M uses its LED. http://we.tl/ZeO47hXPwy

side note: I was using the dualiso module in conjunction with the full res silent picture build when it started to bug. might be related.
