General Chat / Re: Canon 70D - dynamic range dream
July 25, 2013, 07:35:23 PM
Have you seen this video ? not too shabby, if you ask me... (no moire AND enhanced dynamic range)

http://www.youtube.com/embed/1ZdkUt-kBwI
(if you ask me, I like this kind of dynamic range which is - artistically, at least IMO - more appealing then a full blown dynamic range. ie. EVERYTHING in the background if fully registered - color and brightness wise)

I think 70D and ML would be a CRACKING combo  :o

WHAT???!!!
Amazing that he can't do that, eh ?

a1ex, while you're on it... please fix the white balance on these (you should be familiar with white balance by now).

This is the formula : uˆ(ξ) = ˆv(ξ) + ˆv(H(ξ/2)) and g(µ + ξ) + g(µ − ξ).

(in plain English : make a lot of white, and little yellow. yellow is bad).

You got three days.

Thanks

PS
The above is RAW egg  ;D

Actually it's 21.875 (175Mbps)  :)

It depends on scene complexity.

Static scene (ie. with no movement AT ALL. not the camera nor moving objects) will not produce high bit rate. on the contrary (the minimum for that setting). shoot a static noise video (like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH0BQtwEAsM - download it at 1080p) to simulate a maximum movement achievable.... and watch the bitrate go sky high... it may even average at 175Mb/s  ;)
#5
Have anyone reached more then 160Mbps average ?

Will this be available again in the newer releases?  Tragic 2.0?
Yes.

Can we tell you when ?

No.

:)

Will the Bitrate development commence along with the RAW development ? are there further developments down the line ?

I message him every hour to implement 8K unrestricted raw on my 550D.
I think he will do it.
Naaa. xK technology is dead.

The new technology is CT (continuous tone). it's like retina, only better. no pixels at all. and you can scale it up/down as much as you want.
There's also no DR. the new technology for that is called TDI (Thermal Dynamic Interpolation - objects are identified by their thermal signature and thus, can be a black box in a black room... they will be portrayed in a scene).

Problem is, the technology works only on old consumer films (FUJI, Kodak etc.) and only with old cameras (like EOS600).

1%, what are your settings with regards to the OP ?

Because there are a lot of starter questions in this thread now, I made a new FAQ thread:

Yes, but it relates only to Tragic Lantern V1. there is a V2, with a lot less control (as of now) but there IS one...

Raw Video / Re: what about Canon 70D ???
July 02, 2013, 09:40:02 PM
Hi

In a rare statement, CanonRumors had posted (and deleted immediately) that as known to internal sources, canon code can be unlocked altogether - you just have to find the secret code which is comprised of 12 digits (numbers and characters) and is generated by a lottery machines.

Unlocking the code will allow us to :

* Shoot BRAW (Bayer RAW - that's the Rawest of RAW. it is also an abbreviation of "Badass RAW")
* Shoot 8K RAW, transcoding in-camera to ProRes, Cineform and DNxHD - all at once - so we can choose among them. and output to a new highly compressed, lossless format (the new format is said to challenge the lows of physics) called Rock-n-RAW.
* Allow the camera to utilize a new cooling mechanism that cools the internals of the camera at -85° C. no more fearing of frying the camera. another newly developed mechanism will make sure that by the time the coldness reaches the body itself, it is at 25° C again.
* have "ML-Ready" code inside. the developers will just state what they want to do, and the code will generate itself with pre-made templates. the shutdown screen will now have a "Powered by ML" logo.
* know that a1ex will replace Tsuneji Uchida at the board of canon. Canon will replace its name to MeLon.
* have a new "welcome" screen, with a Karaoke version of Oasis' "You gotta roll with it", called "You gotta RAW with it"

Back to reality :

Shoot with what you have  ;)

I meant : is it realistic to shoot for a conceivable amount of time... I can do now 300 frames or so (11-12 seconds) with 1280x535.
is it a dream to hope for 30 seconds ? (yea, I know about the controller...)

Well, with this build I'm not getting pink frames, either (up untill now). and 1024 resolution is back... but :

1) I miss the beep on/beep off (good for sync ?)

2) the two versions of Hack freeze my screen entirely.

Is it realistic to hope for 1280 (2.39) ?...  :) it's the only resolution up until now that I was more or less satisfied with... (in the realm of the T3i restrictions)

Have we reached a brickwall in regards to what the T3i can do (file dimensions) ?

DANewman

Can you incorporate the upscaling mechanism that was once in NeoHD - RAW2GPCF ? (for us guys with lesser cameras e.g. T3i)

I'm not getting any pink frames on the NewSystem build from the 15th on 960x544. This has been the most stable build for me. I do get pink frames and the lcd lags on the first recorded file but everything after that is a gravy train with biscuit wheels.
This version on Bitbucket is not the latest.

As 1% is unable to upload new versions over there (Bitbucket) he uploaded elsewhere in the meantime. the latest one he uploaded contains pink frames (at least for me. and apparently not just me).

I'm also getting pink frames with the last frame being a complete pure noise.  :(

600D only so far, every camera is different... on 6D i can shoot raw quality and there is another trick.

Nope still kicks me out all the time. *sometimes* i can upload to 6D repo. So I dunno I need a new place to upload or just keep posting mega links.
Could you try a test file ? maybe a simple text file ... maybe BB suspect that the file is "bad"...

Out if interest, can it be that the upscaling process (in ACR) will later make the final file seem like its ghosting ?... when I pan or shoot people walking fast (or running) near the camera, there are "trailing" artifacts, not dissimilar from those seen in the first HDR movie...

Have you managed to fix the upload problem you had with Bitbucket ?

I don't really consider the lack of mirror drop a problem. I only use the 600D for video, so I never need the mirror, the box can stay jammed up for all I care, it functions perfectly as the tool i need it to be.

I did use the TXi filter with a 550D too, and oddly enough it used to error all the time with filter in, getting annoyed and ERRor locking up with the TXi filter in place
Well, I guess we are the exact opposites...

I do consider the inability of the mirror to drop as a problem as I get an ERR30 each time I shut down the camera. and I don't like it.

Back to the topic :

Will the 1024 frame size be back ?

OK. great to hear that !  :)

So it leaves me even more frustrated with my own personal problem with the VAF-TXi   :(
