This feature would help me alot. I use Av mode alot but in low light situations I have to switch to manual due to Canon's implementation where shutter speed drops to useless values (camera shakes) prior to upping the ISO.

I don't know what's true but I've read that ISO lower than native won't give less noice.
Canon hasn't stated the native ISO of their chip but Internet says 200 or 100.
Unless I need low ISO cause of light I just go for 160.

What did I miss? What's so magical with exactly ISO 1000??

I'd abandon that sw if it "ingest" everything and not just picture files.
Can't you specify in preferences which file-types to ingest?

Well, after (too) much thinking  today I pressed "order" on the 17-55 F/2.8. Should have done some weeks ago really, because now I have to endure that 5-6 days before it arrives....

My questions are, when I format the card I'm assuming you do that within the camera? And when I format the card, to update the cameras firmware to version 1.0.2 I can copy the firmware update file to my card and go though the normal updating process? Then afterward just go through the normal Magic Lantern set up?

Set constant bitrate(CBR) to as high as your card manage without recording stopping.
I can go to 1.3x which gives me something around 72mbps instead of std 44mbps.

Record in 1080 24fps, set shutterspeed to 1/48 and resize to 720 in post.

I'd like to be able to set a minimum shutter speed, and once the light level falls to a point that the shutter speed would drop below this, it increases ISO instead.
I think the 5D has this feature already but my 600D doesn't.

Possible?

For me that happens under dark circumstances when the camera is having a hard time finding focus.
D1xy or d2xy is better for dark scenes while the other is better for bright scenes (can't remember which. Check manual).

In the Troubleshooting section of the installation guide it says:

If the card LED blinks continuously after running Firmware Upgrade, you don't have the right Canon firmware version or sub-version. To fix it, install the official Canon firmware upgrade from these links, even if you already have the correct version number (you may have a different sub-version number).

Please note the last sentence!

ML has nothing to do with autofocus. If your lens has autofocus and it's compatible with the 600D and it's turned on (on the lens) then you have autofocus.
Regarding ISO 1000 look at my previous post.

You've got the camera. ML is free to download and perfectly safe to install. Why do you need someone else to check if you can set the ISO to exactly 1000?

Anyhow, set ISO to 1250 and ML digital ISO to -0.2 and you've got 1000.

Some Canons have that option. My 600D doesn't(it defaults to 1/f) it seems). Can I get it with ML (haven't found anything about it in the manual)??

In video mode press Q-button. Now you see a menu on the left side. At the top you have the autofocus mode. I use AF Quick mode for more accurate and faster focus.

Do you have a clip for us to see?

How do you view your videos? I use an iMac so I first screen my clips by playing them directly from the memory card as quicktime will play the h.264 clips.

Check your settings for Sharpness, Contrast, Saturation and Tone. Many flat picture styles recommend setting the in-camera sharpness to zero and add it in post if needed. Like Neutral Flat (built in picture style). However, I like to add 2-3 to in-camera sharpness as I think that gives me a better sharpness than adding it in post.

I had similar problems like you until I started shooting outdoor with excessive light. So exposure is very important.

Focus!! If you're focusing manually then try Quick Focus if your lens has autofocus. Zoom in before recording to check that the subject is in focus.

What Malcolm said about 1/(fps * 2) is important. Your videos will be choppy like hell if you go for faster shutter speeds. Only do it if you're shooting a clip for slow motion.

Lastly, your gear should give you crisp and clear looking video so keep testing.
