General Development / Re: EOSM Shutter-Bug reboot
October 25, 2018, 10:40:01 PM
v.v. = vice versa  :)

The problem with the bug over here is, that sometimes it decides to stay away just like that. A simple power cycle doesn't help to get it back, and I have to pull the battery to get the bug back. It also helps to remove the 28mm macro and mount the 18-55m to get it back. I also tried if manipulating the SD card with my W10 laptop helped, it seemed at first the bug would return by simply copying and removing some files to the card but i'm having a hard time reproducing that. I'll try a more scientific approach.

The pinning for the EF/EF-M adapter checks out, but i'm measuring pin 1 & 2 of the EF-M are connected to the metal bajonets, so that must be GND and not VBAT. Also, i'm getting around 680 ohms between pins 7 and 9 (CLK) so it looks like Canon inserted a resistor somewhere.

I can confirm that with the 28mm Macro lens the shutter-bug is also present.

I used the crop_rec_4k_mlv_lite_snd.2018Apr03.EOSM202 build. As soon as I unlock the lens and turn it to the other shooting mode (normal to super macro or v.v.), the bug is gone.

Switching off the camera for few minutes usually brings it back, but sometimes it also decides to stay away, and then I have to pull the battery to get the bug back. I tried to reproduce it reliably for two hours but no luck...

No audio-features on 6D (yet), use the Canon menu instead.

Ok, great, you're welcome.

I'll keep an eye out to see how things progress and can/will do more tests if needed.

General Help Q&A / Re: Motion Detection Canon 6D
February 13, 2016, 10:26:00 PM
Hi,

Just followed your directions and here are the results:

The cam directly enters LV after I enable 'Frame diff' and press the garbage can to close ML menu. I don't even have to press half-shutter.

The black detection area shows, and 'Motion level: 0' top left. This doesn't change and the cam doesn't take any pictures.

When I try to stop LV, it immediately enters LV again. I have to disable 'Motion detect' to get the cam out of LV.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Ray

General Help Q&A / Re: Motion Detection Canon 6D
February 13, 2016, 11:32:11 AM
Hi,

I just tried this to confirm.

The 'Expo change' setting works fine, but I can't get the other two modes to work.

'Frame diff' produces an empty black square on the screen, but apart from that nothing happens and 'motion level' remains '0' while panning.

'Steady hands' seems to do nothing at all at first, no detection square, just the usual Live-view screen. But if I press half-shutter the black square and 'Motion level: 100' appear. The camera then starts to take pictures at regular intervals. But it makes no difference if I keep the cam steady or not.

So I guess it's a bug :)

Hi,

I think I may have found a bug.

I can't get the Arrow/SET shortcuts selection to work during movie recording. It works in live-view, but as soon as I hit record I can't change the selection anymore with the AF points button. The arrow itself works fine.

SET button is not assigned in Canon menu.

Could anyone confirm this, before I enter a bug report? Thanks in advance!

Does that mean I have to change my camera Firmware version from 1.1.6 backwards to 1.1.3 for it to install? Or is it simply telling me that with 1.1.6, when the LED starts blinking, I remove the battery, put it back, and the install will occur?

Thank you.

Adge

Hi Adge,

You can safely run ML with the 1.1.6 firmware. Just download the nightly-like zip from the first post.

It works fine :-)
#10
Yes, I tried all settings. It doesn't seem to matter with 1.1.6.
#11
Just did a quick test, the camera freezes here as well when the zoom button is pressed during MLV recording.

Global draw OFF or Allow doesn't make any difference, even if I disable it in the Overlay menu. MLV_snd loaded or not also doesn't matter.

The camera locks up, but the AF keeps working. Eventually, Err 80 shows up. The LCD stays on, even if the camera is switched off, I have to pull the battery.

Hi folk.... boy I think I am in trouble....
I forgot to take off ML from the SD card during the firmware upgrade and now after the upgrade.... The 6D now does not turn on...
OMG...
Is there anything I can do??  Or I must bring it back to Canon??
Thanks for any feedback!!!

First, take out the battery and the card. Then re-insert the battery and turn on your camera without a card. Does it work?
#13
Yes, you can copy all the settings from the settings directory.

The port is working fine here, but there's about no feedback from testers so far. :-(

Just to chime in: I updated my 6D to 1.1.6 > unpacking your 'nightly' ZIP now :-)

I'll report back if I find any issues. Thanks a lot for your work!

Duplicate Questions / Re: bluescreen on my 60d
April 02, 2015, 10:58:14 AM
I think it was a great prank, even though I fell for it :-)

The solution: just keep calm, read text in the blue screen, let your mind work for a few seconds and don't be frantic about it!

The 8 december build is for the 5DIII.

This one works fine, thanks!

All files are there, now only my 6D has to arrive :-)

Hi Kraig,

Great thread! My 6D will arrive hopefully this week, I think installing ML will be the first thing I will do :-)

One problem i'm having: I get an error 'unexpected end of archive' when I open your RAR (from post #2) with WinRar, and I can only see the two Canon firmware files inside.

General Chat / Re: What camera are you running ML on?

Currently 60D, absolutely a great camera for video!

Thinking about upgrading to FF in the future, 5DIII or 6D.

Awesome, can't wait...  ;)

Thanks for all your hard work, it's amazing how ML has grown in such short time.

Movie remap, sad to see it go, for me too...

Couldn't this be made into a "use at your own risk" option? Or maybe a hidden tweak setting, only for 60D users?

Looking forward to try the new menu structure!

It looks very neat Alex! The Prefs menu is great, very handy for those set-and-forget items. It keeps the other menus tidy. There's even space left for one future item in the top row :-)

Removing too much features would be a reason for me to stick with the dec22 version and not to upgrade ML anymore, to be honest!

Hi,

Same for me here, if some key features would be removed that would end it for me and I will stick with the 15 may version i'm using now.

As with all features, there's always someone using them. I think the unstable ones that cause problems should be removed, but why not keep the rest? Personally, I don't mind lot's of features, and most of us ML users are like tweakers anyway, right? If the menu is becoming too cluttered, we need another menu :-).

Here's my list anyway:

- Auto ISO limits in movie mode: please keep this feature! I use it a lot in low light situations, with the lowest 1/33s shutter speed. In fact, I would like to see this feature re-enabled with 1/25s shutter for my 60D. Please??
- Picture style / REC picture style: can be removed AFAIC
- 60D level indicator: please keep! If I use Canon's level, the ML overlay is gone.
- Ghost image: remove
- Defishing: remove, I never use it
- Vectorscope: remove, never use it
- Image effects (MOVIE menu): remove, nice gimmick but no practical use AFAIC
- Flash / NoFlash: remove, never use it
- Silent pics - advanced modes: remove
- Mirror lockup sync'ed with self timer: remove, never use it
- Follow focus with LCD sensor:remove, 60D doesn't have a sensor :-)
- From Display menu: image position, orientation, upside-down mode: keeper
- Sticky DOF preview / HalfShutter: keep, can be handy sometimes
- Swap MENU <-> ERASE: remove
- Some things from Debug menu (like tasks, CPU usage...):: remove

I think movie remapping is very handy and I use it a lot. The only thing i've noticed is that when I use "C" remapping, some settings in the Canon menu go back to default:

- Image jump with wheel goes back to "10" (I have it set to "1")
- Auto rotate goes back to "ON" (I have it set to "OFF")
- Sensor cleaning goes back to "AUTO" (I have it "OFF")
- INFO button display goes to all three enabled (I only have the electronic level enabled)

The rest of the setting remain unaltered. Funny thing is this only happens if I use "C" to go into movie mode. ISO+LV works stable on the 60D as far as I can tell, never had any problems with it. I tried to reproduce the errors mentioned in the other thread, but it works fine. ML version is 15 may 2012, 17bf58ce429b+. Maybe this can help to make this feature more stable.

Regards,

Raymond
