Yeah, my mistake. Of course converting DNG is important but I wanted to show that it is not better to use Tiff over other formats, because tiff was not invented for sequence files. Of course someone can disagree.

when you import footage into AE there is a small stupid trick that can alter FPS.

Your comp can have exact FPS but it is important to check import settings as well. The default settings can be 30.  Right click on the imported file in Poject manager and choose
Interpret Footage >Main

In a new window there is panel called Frame rate.  ;)

It is connected to color space of the file, file format and a player.

8 bit files are general sRGB so they always look 'normal'.

There is no benefit. It is just a different file format but from my experience:

In production widely used formats (10,12,16 bit) are:
dpx
exr
cdng
Prores, but it is a single file and only on OSX
and of course native RAWs.

TIFF format produces very large file. With lots of frames it can be too slow, and in general there are different versions of TIFFs. Some software can have difficulties reading them.

I don't use MLV but "standard" Raw and for conversion raw2cdng. Never had an issue. But copy files from your CF to hard disk first.

Hmm. That sounds strange. When I have Global Draw on, I can shot only 1728. When in crop, it hangs. Every frame is pink and corrupted, camera is sluggish during record. I have CF x1000...
Crazy.

Using a tape is not a problem. I would like to stick it but it is a completely different problem. In crop mode we see LARGER image, there is some lost info on the left and right side. Simply, the LCD on the camera is too small. We see only part of the image. Not 100% without framing but something like 200%.

Shoot Preparation / Crop Mode - framing

Hello everyone,

There is lot of information about ML on the internet but I can not find the simplest answer to my question and a deep review.
As 1920x1080+  is only available in Crop Mode (x5 etc) in all of the canon cameras, I see that shooting only in this mode is really sensible.
But... How about framing?  I own Canon 7D and I can not shot with Global Draw on. Completely useless. I need to switch off the global draw and then I can record up to 2.5K.  Of course I can not see properly what I am shooting.

Is it same with Field Monitor? I can not check this by my own. I know that it is possible to add custom framing before shooting and then switch to Crop mode but I think that this is the fundamental feature that distinguish ML as a RAW toy and professional camera.
