Some of 5D II and 7D have a maze pattern. That together with Dual ISO may perhaps give a different look?

The picture is from my 7D without Dual ISO.

Its different, that is the noise floor of the sensor, while in the case of the banding problem is the poor job in intercalating the lower and higher iso images.

Correct me if i've missed something, but, any GUI or app available here for these scripts already?

This would be fantastic for us non programmers (or not technically capable). I attempt to follow the instructions but get lost almost immediately.

Thanks dfordt,

Banding might be the wrong word, the lines (I presume) are the result of the blending between the low and high iso interleaving. That said, I believe there most be a way that, in post processing, those lines can be diffused or blended in a software way.

I get those lines in many images, sometimes just in the clouds where its more evident than say on a textured surface, but they are very distracting.

I'm having this exact problem. Apparently no one else is experiencing this? Is there a setting for avoiding it?

I'm using a 5Dmk2 with barracuda gui and latest cr2hdr I found on ML web.

I use default parameters.

PLEASE HELP

Oh well, with the excessive moderation this forum is ULTRA slow (on top of it being a niche). That said, I managed to get a 5D mkii, and I will be doing some tests comparing the DR to my 80D. I will attempt to post the results here, if the moderator allows it.

Here are the links Im familiar with:

http://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR_MagicLantern.htm

Fantastic illustration about the power of ML for DR, but only the 5D mkii is in the graphic.

https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=10111.msg97780#msg97780

This is just related, as it is the investigation about improving the basic ISO and original DR

and lastly: https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=10111.0

the 14.8 stops of DR achievable with the 5D mkiii, problem is that, as you can see between the first and the third link the numbers are not directly comparable, as Im guessing the measurement is taken in a different way.

6D (better sensor than 5DIII) vs 5DII. http://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR_MagicLantern.htm

Thanks for that link is the only one I'm familiar with. I still prefer the 5D mkii to the 6D, for several reasons (max shutter speed, focus points, etc).

Cannot answer that but if you're after DR it is not Canon holding the crown in DSLR realm. Consider switching to something with another sensor: Nikon, Sony ...

The reason I'm on this forum is because I'm invested in Canon lenses, otherwise what would be the point? Thanks anyway.

Hello to all.

I have been looking on the web, youtube and on the ML forums trying to determine the difference in DR between these two cameras while enhanced with ML. So far I have not found side by side comparisons or even numbers to make my mind.

I'm not in to video, I'm just interested in photography. And my main goal is to achieve as much DR as it is possible. So, if the difference between these two cameras is small (relative I know but say less than 0.5 stops) I would buy a 5D mkii. On the other hand, if the difference is 1 stop or bigger, I would definitely pay twice the money for such increment.

Thanks!

THANK YOU for taking the time to write a proper, well educated answer. I do understand everything you said and I believe it is correct. That doesn't excuse this "steda" character in being such an obnoxious person, nor the administrator or whoever throw my post to the "duplicate questions" forum.

EVERY PERSON should be respected, not just developers, but supporters and enthusiasts as well.

NO STEDA I DIDNT GOT IT

It was very rude to receive someone new to the forums like this. I DID APOLOGIZE right after my first post, so no I was not an EXPERT in the forums before asking my very first question BIG MISTAKE...

I have paid for the ML, how many users have PAID????????????? but then, I get hammered just because some other naïve posters DARE to ask in the chat and then in the forums???

Whatever.

ok so shut up basically, nice welcome to the forums

oops... reading the facts, apparently this is a rude question  :(

well I hope is not considered rude, after all, it is a valid question, and (I was going to say me but I guess is everyone) all that is needed is an estimate, I don't have an idea of where to look for a hint, for example, maybe the night builds are getting more stable and a stable release is expected soon, or maybe the NB are still in very early development? Thanks.

Hello, first time posting here. I have been a Magic Lantern user for sometime, I paid for the last stable version just to get it a month or two before its free release! that's how hot Im for ML.

I don't have the big bucks for the latest and more powerful cameras, I own the T3i, and have been very happy because, thanks to ML, I can take better pictures than what the camera alone can, so, in a way, this allow me to take pictures that would only be possible for those with big bucks to pay for better cameras.

I have been reading about double ISO lately, and I have seen that even in the nightly builds its not working for the T3i (600d). I hope it will work, since apparently is working for the 550d, but then I have to ask, do I have to wait for a stable night build and risk it.. or it might be better to wait for the next stable version. So, my question is as the tittle, when can we expect the next stable release? its two years now from the mighty 2.3.

Thanks!
