Here's a teaser a short film.

Shot with a combination of Canon 5DIII and Canon 6D, with various Canon lenses (70/200, 24/105, 24/80 etc.), in Magic Lantern raw 1536x642, MLV files converted to DNG using Raw Magic Lite, imported in DaVinci Resolve, converted to proxies, imported back to DNG into DaVinci and color graded in DaVinci, then exported as a 2K master.

Some 6D shots fixed with RawTherapee. No artificial light was used making this film.

Youtube compressed of course. Watch in HD. Somehow youtube crop sightly videos in SD.

I'm wondering if the problem with the second card (obviously there never was a problem with main card) didn't come that it was used previously in a 5DIII as an ML card.

It could be the reason.

Walter it's not nonsense. Something is wrong with the august builds. First time it happened to me. I will try desinstalling ML and reinstall again and see if the same thing happens.

It's not about ML not starting, it's about when I switched cards, and used one without ML, the camera didn't respond. It's ML problem based, nothing to do with Canon.

If your second card is clear of ML, your camera should boot up with the normal canon functions. I'm not sure why it's not for you. I still have a July build, so I'm I'm not sure what could be going on in the latest builds. Did you try re-installing ML?

That's what I think. Previously I switched cards, the one with ML and the one without, and had no problem booting the camera. But somehow with the august builds, you need to have ML on your card or the camera won't boot.

I was lending the camera to a friend so I did switch the card and put the lighter card on it, and was surprised I had no response from the camera. I think I already switched cards before, without any problem booting the camera without ML.

I installed ML on several friends 5DIII with SD cards for a shoot, and removed my SD cards with ML from theirs after, and they had no problem using their cameras after, even if ML was not on any card they used, neither SD or CF.

Thanks, not my fault actually I didn't want to uninstall, I just switched cards without realising the other one didn't have ML on it.

On the latest august builds, I experienced something that never happened before on the 6D. If I take the SD card out and replace it with another without ML on it, the 6D just won't boot. It stays dead like there's no battery power left. I had to re-load the build on the second card to get the 6D to boot again.

Is that normal behavior?

Nope I'm not talking crop mode. Just regular mlv raw shooting. Depending on the builds, the cropmark (ie widescreen mark) is sometimes off center a bit, thus not giving the exact shooting mark. In other updates, it re-adjusts.

This one needs to be really watched because we need to know, in regular mode, if the framing is correct or not.

It doesn't matter if you shoot 2.39:1 or 16/9, the right edge of the cropmark here, in the latest build, if off the monitor a slight bit. This was not in the build before that.

Just installed the latest nightly build for 6D, the cropmark framing is off to the right when shooting MLV -- this wasn't on the precedent build, if this can help. It's not centered.

In davinci to synchronise the audio with the mlv clips (dng format) you need to import them and create bins; Then click on each, and the audio will match; Create your timeline, and there U go.

Wow thanks. I just shot a project in raw with 3 cameras, two 5DIII and one 6D, and I was looking to adjust the 6D shots so that they blend with the 5DIII.

Playback is continous in 2.39:1 at 1536x642 at 24fps.

You get a nice image at 1.5K, very filmlike.

Within the MLV menu, where you can set resolutions etc. you have to set "global draw" to allow.

Thank you that's the additional setting which eluded me. I suppose it works the same for 5DIII.

Inside the menus, there is a setting for external monitoring hdmi in 16/9 I think. I didn't use it, but I saw someone having the same problem as you on the external monitoring, and I think this fixed it.

I think you need to enable the hdmi monitoring format, there's a format disparity probably between the Canon liveview and your monitor.

Something I don't get with MLV for the 6D, maybe someone can help.

In Raw video mode, the cropmark remains on the monitor while you film in 2.39:1 so you can frame exactly.

In MLV raw mode, once the 6D starts recording, the cropmark disappear and you are back on liveview mode.

There's probably a way to disable the Canon liveview as indicated, but I hit the info button and nothing happens.

Not sure but the 5DIII cannot write to the SD card at the same speed the 6D can. Also to write continuous full raw HD, you either need very costly CF cards, or to lower down the resolution, bringing it into the 6D capabilities range.

Also 6D in low light is a plus. I'd say it's good when you shoot multiple cameras, to have both 5DIII and 6D. I don't think the VAF filter cost is a problem when you realise that CF cards to write full HD raw go from 350 to 750 bucks each depending on the speed.
