@mothaibaphoto thanks for ur response. Usually people talk here in highly complex "Developers" language so i thank u for talking is a simple manner. As i said i just explored these added features of ML despite using it on my 60D for last 2 years for just intervalometer, but on 6D im trying to understand these new features. Thats why u will see me in almost every thread on this forum trying to understand basics. This crop mode silent pictures i have still not understood.

@mothaibaphoto thanks for ur reply. Im still learning this dual iso thingy. Have u observed any drop in sharpness?

SNR: Dmilligan and I already pointed that out. Use crop mode. No binning. Or wait for FRSP.
15 sec: At time of writing you have to live with that limitation.

Plz pardon me what's is crop mode n what's binning? (Plz don't ban me if its very basic question)

And here we are running in circles: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5240.msg134066#msg134066
When you talk about DR you are actually referring to SNR (signal to noise ratio).
As dmilligan pointed out you have no proof of less DR delivered but shown what he admitted: Binning is deminishing image quality. If you want to compare DR you have to use silent pic in crop mode.
Thanks for ur time brother I'm bothering u for last two days
So whatever it is if I'm naming it wrongly, I don't mean to offend you or team of developers. So is there any way to get rid of this SNR? Especially I'm talking with reference to Milky Way shots. Can we even shoot long exposures in silent picture (I've read max is 15 sec) if not then ISO will have to be high meaning very little recovery from shadows/foreground.
Same goes to day light shots, which can be addressed with using ND filters but night gonna be an issue especially Milky Way

Recovering shadows not exposure boost over all
Try to lower highlights to -100 n boost shadows to +100 u will see which has better recovery

Read reply #503

okay here are files, difference of resolution and one can further see in light room how less details one can extract from shadows (isnt it dynamic range) i think at the moment the info is gathered from live view (movie mode) n this is max info a DNG of silent pic can retain. For comparison i have uploaded full resolution CR2 n Silent pic DNG.

Silent Pic DNG: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gzwtt1u9itlx729/Ipad%20SIlent%20pic.DNG?dl=0

It has nothing to do with better DR. ML has a silent pic function right now but output is cropped/LV resolution. Full Resolution Silent Pic (FRSP) is able to use all the sensor's pixels.

yes i just tried Silent pictures option and max resolution i am getting is 1824x1224 on 6d (thats what it shows on screen in live view)
so how to enable FRSP on 6D, im using 29 Jan 2015 Nightly build
#10
So do we have better dynamic range dng now from this?

i think ur using some extreme value for recovery ISO in ur method

correct me if im wrong
ru setting ur base ISO as 10000 n recovery ISO at what value?
in ML at the moment (Jan 29 NBuild) recovery ISO is maximum upto 6400
so if u set ur base ISO higher than or equal to recovery ISO (6400 in ur case) i am sure u will get such bands. So make sure ur base ISO (which u select from camera menu) is not more than (or equal to) ur recovery ISO
ie 100-6400, 1600-6400, but never 6400-6400 or 10000-6400

Depending on your Lightroom version, after you export, it will only show the negative flagged original cr2 image. That is because you are in the LR develop mode. You have to switch from develop mode to library mode to see the new dual ISO dng in the same folder. It's a bug.

i tried that also and even tried to exit lightroom even n relaunching it re-syncing the library
as i said im on LR 5.7 so will downgrading lightroom to like 5.4 5.6 etc will solve this issue?

Audionut linked to this page already. There are two alternatives to try out besides lightroom. BArracuda and an postprocessing exe file.
http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7139.0
Good luck. I,m on mac so can,t help you further.

i have mac osx installed on my pc also, but i just tried in windows
when cr2hdr exports dng it renames it but lightroom is not updating its library n is showing old file. So i relocated it clicking that small exclamation mark on the thumb nail to relocate the DNG n reloaded it in library. Now artifacts are gone. I hope tomorrow morning ill take gud sunrise shots n will be able to share with u guys
Plz devs look into this, i was using V3.0 Beta 3 with Lightroom 5.7. I will now try 2.1 version lets hope this small error is not there.

Still no success, it's still the same issue. I'm on windows and I'm using 3.0 beta. The problem is same, the cr2hdr when exports it overwrites the original dng (crested during ist import) but I can't then add the newly created dualiso dng. What am I missing here?

Duplicate Questions / Re: How to process dual ISO files
February 07, 2015, 11:13:31 AM
ok boss! thanks for speedy replies guys
QuoteHow the plugin works:
Pictures selected to export are listed
Only CR2 and DNG files are supported (if file is not present, skip)
Each picture, one by one is converted with cr2hdr (with defaults or custom args)
if cr2hdr 20bit and --same-levels are selected, all pictures are converted in the same time
Picture is moved to subfolder
Picture is renamed with suffix
Picture is imported into Lightroom catalog
Label is added
Keywords are added (and created if needed)
Synchronize keywords with original file
Keyword Dual ISO raw or no Dual ISO is added to original file
Parse log file to fill metadata with cr2hdr results
Add picture to all collections
Keep or remove log file
Set the flag of the original file

is this ur talking about? well its kinda confusing for me
do we import these cr2 files normally like any other cr2?
we edit the dual iso cr2 like we normally edit any other raw file? n once we r done editing we then export it using this plugin? n when its exported where it lands? in which folder?

Which cr2hdr version are you using?
Which settings in your cam?

You may upload an example and a processed output file. We may be able to run it, too and compare results.
cr2hdr version? i need some guidance here,

my final images after a quick pp in lightroom 5
at ISO 200 with ML diabled

at 200-1600 with no ETTR enabled
