Thanks Danne for the little explanation. Got it.
Will do more testing.
What is the explanation of the "recording delay" function? (intervalometer function and recording delay function)
#2
recording delay function is to record separate x clips of x seconds each with a delay between them, is this right?
intervalometer function
used only with the new frameburst and iso average? (movie-preset-submenu)

Thanks

recording delay preset

did choose :
delay 5
recording 1
loop 10

this did work much better, it recorded 10 clips with 35-37 frames each
very nice!

I really don'T understand why there are two scripts. maybe I choosed the wrong one? maybe the intervalometer is for silent picture or burst, bracketing, sorry if I did missed this.

did take a while, have only a bad screen recording, sorry for that.
I did reset the ML settings before starting screen recording

Looking in mlvapp on the clips - the first 5 are all round about 135 frames, the sixt is 500 frames, have to stop it. as You can maybe see on this screenrecording, I have set duration to one second and loop to 10. it did record more than one second, and only 5 clips out of 10, the sixt one would run until card full or battery drained.

so then now it works better then before (before the 24fps setting in canon menu previously)
but its not working for 10 clips, which would be necessary for timelapse
the counter (10-0) is counting on it self somehow, regardless if cam isn't recording, which I would expect, or if the cam is recording, which doesn't make sense

edit
now testing the "recording delay" function with "run"

#5
So, yes, I have switched to PAL in canon menu, and there to 1920x1080@25 pfs
No FPS override

I've switched now (still pal) to 1920x1080@24fps, restarted the cam and Yes! no problems.

so the 3x issue seems solved:
1.-in CANON menu choose (maybe either PAL or NTSC) 1920x1080@24FPS and restart

intervalometer script:
I've used the fresh build install and Just changed in movie (ML) menu Ratio to Off
then started the script (run) and changed the setting from the movie-intervalometer menu to
4 secs record time, repeat 4 times

Testing the intervalometer once more after this abovementioned settings change to 24FPS video in Canon menu
firstly I reseted the ML settings and restarted the cam, then changed the ratio to off and pressed Menu Button three times, nothing else changed
Then did run script  and still in ML menu -> movie tab -> intervalometer I've changed
1. recording time to 4s
2. loop this to 4
3. run rec key trigger

yes now it records, the cam starts recording right away, the countdown (from 10) counting and again recordings stops after 5-6 secs, starts again, stops and this is all

So thanks Danne to clarify the setting to 24FPS

But the intervalometer doesn't work as expected, if I let the Ratio setting at OFF.

Edit: if I run the intervalometer the recording starts right away, the LV display shows the countdown, but recording still running. then it stops, then starts again, then stops, then start and has to be manually stoped. in between the counter counts down, then a message is shown - push display to disable, it records two clips (have set it to loop 4x), then stops, sometimes recording doesn't stop

Can´t reproduce. x3zoom is working as before here.
Intervalometer is very specific with certain additions depending what you setting you choose. You describe very vaguely so hard to say what´s going on.
I would need a sample mlv in x3zoom to understand better since a ton of info is missing if you want me to reproduce.
Thanks
3x zoom , Ratio off - here one sample file (only a week from now available)
I have this issue since nov 16th. then I noticed it the first time
https://we.tl/t-Oc5xgYbBAb
Intervalometer : withthe fresh build installed, mv1080p, 14bit, 2.39:1 - nothing changed - Works for the testing (4 x repeat of 4 second clips)
changing the RAtio to off it breaks, changing from there to 16:9 its still broken, cam can lock up
I hope this helps Danne

Ah ok
1. compile yourself MLVApp master branch
2. put the executable inside of MLVApp

Thanks again for clarification Masc

Ah thanks for clarification Masc - I did understand Your post which I was quoting as this has to be done manualy anyways. Yes using now the newest 1.10 release

I have much fun with MLVapp and thus thanks to all devs and others for it!

Since Masc introduced the export-preset in the export settings menu, I sometimes have tried it again (at least when new version came out) but it never worked for me. I'm on Yosemite, Catalina and High Sierra - everywhere the same. I can make one preset, but it disappers on next program start.
(this seems to not be the case with v1.10, it remembers then the presets, but all are the same setting, usually the one I did first, i.e. prores 4444. If I activate another one, like tiff, it has the same prores 444 setting applied)
I really tried some possible ways to get it. What I am doing wrong? Does some of you guys use it on mac without problems? let me know please.

Raw Video Postprocessing / Re: raw2mlv processing

I tried to integrate RAW2MLV to MLVApp. To use this, compile and install raw2mlv like this (path of MLVApp executable):

If MLVApp finds this executable, it will show this action:

Triggering brings:

Select single picture or a sequence folder, then click "Transcode and Import", choose a destination folder. Then it will need some time - WAIT! - and the converted files show up in the session.

TESTED ON OSX ONLY! Linux might work too, on Windows I expect some additions. AND: only the "good" use case works - no error handling at all. So if you do s*** you will get s***. :P

This doesn't work for me on any of my macs. Any help would be appreciated.
I have MBP with Yosemite, MBP with Catalina and Macpro5.1 with High sierra.
What I dit, just extracted the executeable from the raw2mlv.app and copied it to the MLV10.1 package inside of Macos folder. Checking in Terminal, it shows the correct right like mlv or ffmpeg executables.

Fortunately, raw2mlv.app standalone works well

I also became curious, if it works with CHDK - generated cr2 files from my sx220 - sadly it doesn't
The files are recognised by the mac finder and raw2mlv generates a mlv video clip, but this is pure white only. So maybe this is no real cr2 file I assume. Anyone using CHDK also who can check this?

thanks

Testing results:

using the Dec 07 build, firstly I've checked the new feature - intervalometer for video
I tested only the mv1080p rew interval script / video mode
this works with the preset aspect ratio 2.39:1
Ratio set to 16:9 - cam crasches sometime, have to pull battery
Ratio to off - doesn`t work, meaning maybe it does record once, but then the interval isn't over (10sec) and the recording starts and dont stop

I also have a problem with the mv1080p rew in 3x zoom - the top part of the LV is corrupted which also shows up in the recording, this is since some builds back the case
Also since some time, the GD LV item indicating remaining capacity of sd card doesn't update anymore. It updates only after powering cam off and on

As always, thanks to Danne and others for developing ML further

Used this build for 2 days without problems, but no extensive testing
After starting the cam with the Oct 17 build today, it crashed.
There was a note to report the crash to ML- devs. Then Error 70 was presented and cam shut down
here are the logs and my settings folder
https://we.tl/t-IRY4rMOaYb
(link active until the Oct 27th)

@Zeek
You are on the PAL setting. I'm on NTSC @ 24fps setting, but this got changed after reboot to 30fps
ML is then reporting 23,xxx fps

Thanks to all Devs for their great work

@Danne
I did put Your recent build in and tested the h264 @640x480 as suggested
Did push the canonmenu button several times, did a short recording and switched cam off to check the mov file. then I restarted and selected from canon menu back to hd 24fps and activated from ML menu the 5k ana-rew preset (I have the quick menu turned off)
then I've got this realtime preview at 12bit and 12fps , I did switch several times to framing and back and it worked. it was an undistorted, not streched and centered.

Outside I started the cam and the preview didnt work no more like that

Back home tried from memory to recreate , but failed
So I really don't know what happened

Did record at 1736x2996 12bit 12fps , no audio a 60GB file on my 64gb card, did render it out with MLV App which took 3 hours on my old mac and checked the file  which was without any bad frames. the 422 exported file is 56GB

Thanks!

hey Danne,
Your new build
so now when I select h264 and then in Canon Menu, videotab, 640x480 30fps, it records in that resolution, which gives a really small filesize with bitrate of 9.8 Mbit
Thanks for the hint

selecting the 5k ana-rew preset with aspect ratio set to OFF shows now as anamorph MAX in GD
This is now very nice and more consistent
But what is really wonderfull now is the real-time preview in that mode, which is perfectly centered and not streched anymore, it's now like the 2.5k modes

Thank You very much! Will do some testing and report back if necessary
Cheers
#18
Thank's for clarification Danne

I dont have ratio applied in either mode, only noticed that it doesnt show up there

no problem with h264, did used it previously for audio recordings ... - highest h264 compression and wav audio with external mic
can easily use a dedicated slow card for this with ML nightly

Did try to record h264 and mlv only once, long time ago

clip name is not possible, no problem too

Thanks
#19
selecting 5kAna-rew. setting doesn't show up in GD display
all other videomodes do in green typo

h264 only available from the "tap display" presets menu, not in the regular one, they are very much different
regarding h264 and the missing quality controls, could someone beside me find it usefull to have a second h264 low picture quality video with minimal res possible to be able to record mainly Audio ?
I don't know if this is easy possible

Another question regarding the name of the MLV file, - if one starts recording in h264, a name shows up in GD, could this be possible in MLV recording too?

Thanks to Danne and others for their awesome work
#20
@reddeercity
can confirm it works on my 50D.
could record several clips with 2560x1080 10bit uncompressed and 23.9 fps
Because of a slow card only 12seconds each, one pink glitch in one clip
GD should be set to allow in raw video (mlv) menu and preview to auto

cheers
#21
Hey Danne! that is great
Didn't complain about it in anyway more it's the opposite
But hey, You know what is weird? I complain to myself since years, not to having an icon of .mlv files on a computer
And this could be the solution. Just autotake a photo before recording a video
Then we would have an image in "finder" to discern which clip is what..
So anyway, thanks a lot for Your work
#22
just did a little testing with the actual build and noticed that photos (accidentaly) taken in videomode aren't black anymore but regular .CR2 files Which is nice
The file size of 20.4 MB is identical to a photo taken in either mode, but the resolution is different
With the 2.5k 1:! preset enabled, it's height is 2916px instead of the 3456px of the photo mode cr2, the width is the same 5184px

Thank's to Danne and others
#23
Didn't know this
Not that big playback user anyway, actually found the "fast" playback option just some days ago, which is neat

#24
In the Sept20th build I have a bug at Playback
this happens seeningly if the ratio is set to off This doesn't happen with 2.5k 1:1 or Ana modes
2. maybe the 3x also an issue there

So if I set ratio to OFF and record mv1080p rew. and go in Playback, the LED is on and the screen black. The cam doesn't freez or something, I can reach the Record mode just  with a tap on the screen .

Just a report. Please check anyone.
Many thanks to Danne and pthers

Same here.  Can disable GD to see the 3:2 image. the screen has 4:3, so therefore the remaining black bar at the bottom
Would be a nice place for GD stuff....
