Checking in. Is everyone okay?

Thanks.  I'm not using the nightly build I'm just using the Last full released ML RAW version.  I'll give the 4K a try.

So you're using the 4K version full time?

Check the 1'st post on the 1'st page :)

Doesn't really answer my question.  For those who are using it.  Is it pretty stable.  I've been using the ML RAW version for several years and it has been rock solid.  Is the 4K version there as far as stability?  Can I switch over to the 4K version and stop using the 'regular' RAW version?

So at this point in development, is the 4K firmware pretty stable? I've been shooting RAW with the ML last nightly build and it has been pretty rock solid.  I just haven't moved up the the 4K builds yet.

I'm a big proponent of Magic Lantern. I lead the Creative Cow Canon DSLR forum and constantly recommend it as well as work flows.

My question I have for this forum and maybe it's obvious and I'm missing it, but if I install the latest experimental build of the 4k version of ML on my Canon 5D Mark III with 1.3.2 firmware, do I get the same nightly build as "magiclantern-Nightly.2018May01.5D3123" which I currently have installed, WITH the ability to do 3K/4K cropped? or are the normal feature in "magiclantern-Nightly.2018May01.5D3123" missing and it is only focused on3K/4K cropped?

In other words do I get everything the normal nightly build has plus the addition of 3K/4K cropped?

TIA!

Hi Guys,

I am trying to install ML for the first time.
I am on a mac and it won't let me unzip the Autoexec.bin file.  It just keeps giving me an new file to unzip
Any suggestions?

Cheers

Don't unzip that file.  It should live as is at the root of the card.

i am new here, is there a ML for 5D3 Firmware 1.3.3?

No.  You have to downgrade with the EOS Utility to 1.2.3 or 1.1.3.

a1ex,  here's what I did.  I deactivated RAW.REC in the modules setting and power cycled the 5D.  I activated RAW.MLV in modules settings and shot some footage and power cycled the 5D.  I deactivated RAW.MLV and activated RAW.REC again and power cycled the 5D.  I got errors Err codes, modules won't load.  I power cycled the 5D.  I activated RAW.Rec and RAW.MLV  and power cycled the 5D.  I then turned off RAW.MLV without deactivating it and I can shoot RAW.REC (MLV-Lite).

I gave the Lite a try.  Interesting with 2017-03-06, if you don't turn RAW-MLV on RAW Video and Magic Lantern won't load and give Err codes.

So with the nightly build of -03-06-2017 for 5D MKIII RAW shooting has been removed and it's just RAW MLV?
#11
And now the 5D Mark IV.  What would ML do with 4K - non-cropped video RAW ;
#12
RawMagic works for me without issue.  I shoot Raw not MLVRaw.
#13
"That's probably due to the Hollywood Gods preventing us from a breakthrough with the colorgrades from MLV RAW that DR produces...."

Try processing the MLV Raw with RAWMagic first.  This will make a folder of RAW CinemaDNG files (all RAW).  Bring into Resolve and voila.  Works here!

Nice work  fletch_cinebootcamps.

It's be nice to see what you are doing.  I did some projects years ago with Randy at the Association.

Anyone know why magiclantern-Nightly.2015Jun09.5D3123 (Nightly build 2015 Jun09 5D3123) was pulled for the 5D MKIII with 1.23 firmware?  It's seems to have worked.  I still have it loaded on my camera.

Does anyone know why?

Dylan418,

I think the latest version of RawMagic fixed the vertical line issue.

QuoteHey guys,

I had a couple of shooting dates and even, as it didn't make problems on the testing, I also got the bad frames problem. Interesting thing is, that it was not only on one frame, but even two frames.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF 28mm f/1.8 USM
1/64 sec, f2.2, ISO 100
1920x490 60.003 fps
Bad frames on different 128 gb Sandisk 160mb/s cards
magiclantern-Nightly.2015Apr06.5D3113

Please I need help, I have more shooting days this week and need to know, if earlier versions were more stable in case of bad frames. Does anybody has experience? I would like to keep firmware 1.1.3 because I don't get contiguous 50p on 1.2.3

Are you guys shooting MLVRaw or just RAW?  If MLVRaw, try shooting in RAW and report if you get this problem.  I haven't seen the pink frames with the latest build of 1.2.3 shooting RAW.  I have MLVRaw turned off.

"Ok AL3X, I again did a few tests and had same issues.
"

I just watched the video.  Boy those pink flashes are very reminiscent of digital dropout you used to get on digital video tape.  Is it possible the write speed of the card is not fast enough?  Have you low level reformatted the card so it is not fragmented?  I'm curious if the card is fragmented, could it be trying to write to contiguous space and it causes dropout.

So Far so good.

Good to see A1ex is busy again with the new build uploaded yesterday.  I'll load it today and give it a try!
#21
Yes.  I have.  And I've reinstalled it.

Hmm, so your H264 mode is showing up in ML 1.2.3 and doesn't say that the .ini is missing?

It's not in the ini. It's the first or second thing under the movie tab, on by default but overridden when you turn on RAW or MLV RAW record in the ini.

I originally posted this in the nightly build forum, but as no response guess I must have put it in the wrong place.

>>>
Installed the 1st July 2014 nightly build (my first time use of the software) onto a Kingston 16Gb CF card to use in my 5DMk3 camera.

I highly recommend putting ML on a separate SD card and capture to a CF card. It has worked and been very stable for me this way. And you don't have to worry about reformatting the CF card and loosing ML.

I'll try that in the next couple days. Only problem with formatting the card in the camera - isn't it then VFAT instead of exfat, which would limit the file sizes?  Or is that not a real concern?

Looks like KomputerBay has 64GB 1066X cards for $95 - maybe I should pick up one of those and see if there's a difference.

Yes it would be. But I have used RAWMagic and it is able to take the spanned RAW files and merge them for processing into one CDNG file. So exFat has become moot for me. I'm on a Mac. YMMV.

First time poster and had a quick wuestion that i couldnt find definitively on other threads. Just did a shoot using 1.2.3 on mark III using .raw module with a lexar 1066x 128gb card and I'm getting crazy vertical lines through the video on all dngs when converted using magic raw. A lot of people are saying it's the sensor noise pattern etc.

Is there a definitive fix for this? I was using hdmi out while recording but I doubt that would make a difference. Any thoughts or fixes?

Are you using RawMagic?  If so, the lite version or the full version? If you are using RawMagic version 1.2 has a fix vertical stripe function. If you are using Magic Raw then I don't know what that is.

Personally using RawMagic full version, I have not seen the vertical stripes.
