Bug report (possibly?):

White Balance Window on HDMI-monitor:
White Balance Window blocked on HDMI-monitor is still present in latest build (march 30) in both 1.1.3 and 1.2.3
I realize most effort here is going onto RAW, and maybe this issue has not been addressed just yet (not sure here)?

Monitor Profile:
Another thing I've come to realize as missing compared to the old 5D2-build in both 1.1.3 and 1.2.3 is the ability to choose an individual monitor profile (i.e. 'portrait') independent of whatever profile is used for recording (i.e. flat) - is this something that is not possible just the same on 5D3?

Best regards

Hi al1x,

Now don't take it wrong please (no pun intended), but pls. let me clear up, if this 'little' issue (well, to me not so 'little' in neither realworld implications as well as coding-wise ; ) is still on the to-do list of yours (not present in update of March 12, and no mention in March 30 update neither)?

Have a great day 8)

General Help Q&A / Re: 5D III 123 audio menu missing
February 26, 2017, 12:42:12 PM
Hi DefeyeJedi,

Thx and yes. That is the rec-level control (Only. No routing, no output volume).

The not so nice effect of pressing Q for input level control is here, that the ML-interface is off hence the UV-meters are absent and i'm effectively maneuvering in the dark resulting in the most possible event of several forth-and-back menu/push-button operations in order to get the level right. Just not the most wished for sound-interface (hate to sound to be bragging, sorry, not my mission here at all).

However, the output volume sequence ( Q -> RATE + Multicontroller) is a true two-handed nightmare and any hint (?) on simplifying this and not the least obtaining a visual (graphic interface) for this audio output control is greatly appreciated?

[And if the amp for output volume could be squeezed a little bit more here, it would definitively be a good thing too...;)]

Thx for input, Danne (i'm no good at that coding stuff though).

Using 1.2.3 (for HDMI-mirroring). And not sure, if this white balance 'feature' was just the same before the fix of the random black bars, sorry (i'm totally new in mkIII. Just started out w. no historic awareness neither complete comprehension/knowledge yet :)

Best regards

General Help Q&A / Re: 5D III 123 audio menu missing
February 24, 2017, 12:43:22 AM
Well, with all respect, @hyalinejim, i find that to be a bold statement about an effectively overrated Canon audio-interface of the 5D mkIII:

Having to 'go out' and into the Canon menu to adjust the MISSION CRITICAL audio input volume is additional steps of navigation away and NOT anything like quick and convenient  - and miles off when compared to the 'ONBOARD' ML-solution of the old mkII-build (2.1.2).

Second i find the Canon audio interface to be having options missing i.e. the rec. signal routing (ext/int/combo) when compared to the 'old' ML-audio interface.

Thirdly there is the MISSION CRITICAL issue of controlling the 3.5 output volume: This feature is completely hidden and non-visual (no graphic interface) in the Canon audio interface (and no override facility either). This was not the case in the mkII ML-build that had a nice control panel for that too (via VCR audio-out).

This is in fact all audio functionality that i miss very much just about every day (i use the mkII more than the mkIII for this reason alone) and really i wish that in another life programming and coding was a hard core capability of mine. Now i'm just having to be hoping for other more capable individuals to take up on the challenges here and finally crack i all open... :))

Makes perfectly sense.
And pls. don't be mistaken here: i'm extremely grateful for all the effort invested and truly impressed with the outstanding results this project has managed to bring about so far. It's an amazing achievement that has empowered the average users like me to make a hell of a lot more out of our cameras :))
I love it!!
Thank you guys you're in my bedtime prayers <3

Hi there a1ex :)
You're right for sure.

But i'm only good at people, imaging and visual narratives - and a hardcore tech-usr.

But NOT handy at programming or anything like that at all - not even when it comes to 'minor issues'. They are all major issues in my world unfortunately... :(

Another thing: Is it not possible to donate anymore except for bitcoins?

HELP needed - URGENT PLEASE:
Has anyone cracked this issue: Can i possibly make a workaround w. other settings perhaps - have tried (by nature somewhat randomly) but to no avail?

I think this qualifies for a note of it's own (It's a serious capture-hindrance out there. I've searched but not found any discussion nor solution):

5D3 using ext. monitor via HDMI (Sony CLM-V55 5" & Marshall V-LCD50): When choosing the EXPO-menu to adjust White Balance, the white balance K-readout is blocked by the bottom info-panel that now suddenly has moved up (!) and now appears in the top of the LV-image - hence hiding the white balance read out panel...

It's a real knock out when doing reportage, run-n-gun style shooting etc. ...

HELP needed - URGENT PLEASE:
Can i possibly make a workaround w. other settings perhaps - have tried (by nature somewhat randomly) but to no avail?

And sorry, i haven't cracked the image upload challenge just yet (bear with me, pls.), but this is what it looks like:

YES!!! Great stuff (skilled) - thank you soooo much : ))

Now there is just one more related (little?) bug;
When choosing the EXPO-menu and attempting to adjust White Balance, the K-readout is blocked by the bottom info-panel that suddenly has moved (!) and now appears in the top of the LV-image - hence hiding the white balance read out panel...

And sorry, i haven't cracked the image upload challenge just yet (bear with me, pls.):

Thx for looking into it, Alex :))

However i can't seem to do the trick; I've installed the new/latest build for 1.2.3 (2017-02-09 01:13) but the random black bar is still present (looks like the previous build)...?

[FYI: I've tried changing through the settings of Screen Layout (Display -> Advanced settings) but to no avail]

Help please: Does anyone know how to add my two screendumps (.jpg) for documentation of the external monitor-problem i'm having (pls. see post above) w. 5D3 & ML 1.2.3 ?

Here is the two .jpg images of the 'random' black bar:

[clicking 'Attachments and other options' does not take me to an upload-sequence or anywhere else...?!?]

Just migrated from 5D2 to 5D3 - now running build 1.2.3.

Great and impressive work as always :))

However the upgrade to 5D3 w. 1.2.3 is giving me some headaches (sound is one major, but that's only second);

I've searched the forum for coverage of problems of external monitoring wo any mention/solution to the weird black bars blocking/cropping my LV-image on external HDMI-monitors: Sony CLM-V55 5" & Marshall V-LCD50 (Sorry for any inconvenience caused if this is already covered, but i have not been able to come across any discussion regarding this?).

The blacked-out bar cropping/obscuring the top of the image appears indifferently of any (all) settings of Screen Layout (Display -> Advanced settings).

And w. Force HDMI-VGA 'ON' the blacked-out bar moves to the right side (vertical now)

[Pls. pardon the smartphone imaging 'quality']

I've searched the forum for posts regarding the posibility of descrete mono input for external audio in both channels (L/R). Sorry for any inconvenience caused if this is already covered, but i have not been able to come across any discussion regarding this?

With my 5DmkII and v.2.3 i'm able to have one channel of discrete mono-in. But at the same time i have to accept the internal mic as input-source on the remaing mono-input channel.

I can avoid the internal mic by choosing external stereo audio input - but then it is not w. discrete input (i.e. the stero channels are not fully separated in discrete L/R - instead both channels are then present in either channel L/R).

It would be great with discrete external mon input in both channels; then i could have i.e. a microport in Left and a (camera mounted) shotgun on Right channel?

Thx for the great work with Magic Lantern :)
