Sounds like it's not as straightforward as a simple porting exercise (not that I could do that), with the model differences and all.
I see it's probably a lot of hit and miss before one can find those right addresses to call.

If I can be of any help outside of actual coding, please do let me know.

I was curious about your opinion - do you think lossless raw compression will be possible on the 700D anytime soon?
I know you guys are working hard to crack this problem...

I think I can safely say a lot of us are super excited about the prospect of shooting full-width raw video continuously on our 700D's (even if it's just 1:2.35 aspect) - which is not currently possible due to the SD card speed limitation.

700D is working in 10-bit and 12-bit. Tested mv1080, mv1080crop, mv720 and zoom modes.

This is really really promising! Could you confirm the data rates achieved in 10-bit +  a rough estimate of how long we might be able to record like this, with the SD card hard limit taken into account?

As far as I know if you shoot in Av, Tv and P modes every setting will be set by camera to correct exposure. So if you are trying to soot video in Av mode and will change your aperture, camera will set sutterspeed and ISO automatically and you will not see the changes on th screen. So if you want to fully control your settings, you probably will shoot in M mode.

OK I can see now I probably wasn't clear enough - I'm looking for an instantaneous, one-button way of quickly switching back and forth between very different apertures (such as wide open and f8) while having my exposure compensated automatically, preferably via ISO.
Just like when using the DOF button in photo mode live view.
And all of this while shooting video...

And my question is:
Is this physically possible with the 700D, if someone took the initiative to code it for ML?

I only recently discovered that our dear 700D has seamless exposure compensation when using the DOF preview button.
I'm talking about the effect shown here:

So basically, it has the ability of jumping between f1.4 and f7.0 without any noticeable change in exposure.

My big question: do you think it's possible to achieve the same functionality while recording?
(i.e. to have an assigned button or the DOF button itself triggering stop down and working together with this seamless exposure compensation?)
I have a music video in my plans that would utilise this effect, but it's very difficult to achieve any other way...

What are your thoughts?

I personally tested the 'official' version of it on the 700d and there is indeed a noticeable difference especially with scenes of high detail and keying for example.
The advanced TL version that existed for the 600D was even more of an improvement according to JGHarding's post in the now defunct thread about it.
He claims to have used it at 100MBps All-I sustained without hiccups on professional shoots.

My request: is it possible to implement a stable version of GOP and Slice Control back into ML?
Maybe not even all the complicated stuff, but at least a foolproof version of All-I recording (GOP=1) and maybe another inbetweener short GOP option?
From what I can gather, the 600D definitely can do it in a stable manner, so probably 650D and 700D should work too...?

I know with all the amazing work done on raw and dual ISO, this seems like I'm asking for a pair of new horseshoes while everyone else is whooshing past in Ferraris - but for those of us who can't go raw for one reason or another (for instance the pink dots, cropping etc), this would be a really nice improvement.

Hey guys, got my hands on a borrowed 700D to test before I buy.

I think I discovered a bug (was using MK11174's Feb26 build with the meters) and was trying to format the card leaving ML on. At the end of the process as it was 'writing bootflags' it hung and had to do a battery reset.

Another little quirk was the Magic Zoom - when I accidentally set the position to the ever-jumpy focus point, it went nuts and eventually froze.
Just thought I'd mention - otherwise it is a pretty good build, really getting there - thanks!

I'm currently torn between buying a 700D or a 600D and I need to ask you guys a few quick questions:
The arguments for the 600D would be the fantastic Tragic Lantern bitrate control features (ALL-I etc) and the built in 3x crop mode for video.

Is it possible to have the same advanced bitrate control features on the 700D as well? If not, what's available and what's likely to be ported at some point?
Is the 'crop mode hack' similar to the 600D & delivering the same moire-free quality in a stable manner, in h.264 recording too?

Your advice is hugely appreciated.
