Short tribute to the one of the most iconic symbols of beauty and history in Paris. Seems it was luck to film it before the fire destroyed everything from this perspective.

Let's sum it up. If you ever do a D6+ port on real hardware I promise to do another one too (read: I don't give an ETA)

You have now released the ML port for the M50.  With all my respect to you, I think this was a wrong decision.  Why?  On one hand, this is a new model and very few people have it.  It is not an established model and it will take time until people start buying it.  Until then, it will be quite expensive.

Quite wrong statement. ANY new camera port is great. I wish it was 5DIV, but when M50 will be running MLRAW I will buy it next day and use it until there's R, IV released. So it looks like quite personal for you.

@a1ex those comments and people who ask for more and faster shouldn't touch you in any way. We (people who has no knowledge about coding) just crying every time when we're using our new canon cameras without ML, because it's a true peace of brick regarding nowadays video standards. I think most of us who upgraded were hoping for MLRAW, if not today, but maybe tomorrow.

You've done already a true milestone. You know that and we'll know that. Well the all world knows that.

Just, as in other post was said, might be a good idea freeze old cameras code for a time being to save your time and go further. ML without mr. a1ex is just lantern without magic :)

Hi @a1ex ! I read it few times this, but still confused...

This - i.e. getting more time for ML development - is what I hoped to achieve with Apertus, some years ago. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned - they are simply not in the position to pay a salary. So, I've ended with two projects competing for my spare (read: unpaid) time. Not a good deal...

Did you mean you've ended with ML & Apertus ... both projects? Too bad you don't take donations (not bitcoins) any more tho. It's easiest way to let us to support you.

They didn't add Canon's main selling point for video - DAF in 4k.
They didn't add 24p in FHD.

Unfortunately, miracle didn't happen - this camera has no life as videocamera.

Still, it's might be great FF mirrorless photocamera.

Not talking about some real flaws with EOSR ergonomics, RP according to the latest rumours looks like 6DII mirrorless :(

@reddeercity I had similar thoughts as you, but did you use Canon 5DiV with CLOG or EOSR for real? I did. A lot. Unfortunately I've bring you back to the earth. Video image quality there is nowhere close to 5D3RAW. Add here a crop factor for 4k, keep in mind with crop factor you're not just changing focal distance, but expanding DOF losing that "cinematic" look. 5DIV is a workhorse, you can rely on it, but video image quality and colour are not there if you're seriously looking for it. Also there're so many small things that makes your life much harder when you film with standard firmware. Camera with ML is not just RAW. You either have ML or get Canon C200.

offtop : Why Ronin and not Moza2?

Moza2 has anti-travel size. Too tall to carry with you when moving. If they made detachable handle could be a win :)

transitions tutorial?

or some link to download it from (if those are presets)?

very nice work!

There're no presets, all done individually using camera movement, cropping in post and time ramping.

Very expressive, very cool! Would be interested to hear your thoughts on speed ramping/transition effects - you use them very effectively!

What frame rate and resolutions were you shooting?

Great stuff!

Sorry for delay, didn't see it. It was shot 10 bit with max resolution 1824 horizontal. Frame rates vary mostly 24p, but some are 10p-16p (with FPS OVERRIDE).

Beautiful, very Watchtower of Turkey style.

I assume that you used a gimbal for the hyperlapses? If so which one?

Thanks. Yeah, it was Crane 2. Honestly not happy with it. Going for Ronin.

This is truly beautiful and poetic. Do you mind name 6D shots?

Thanks. Few intro shots in subway.

Visual interpretation of Bukowski's poem - Blue bird. Filmed in wonderful city of Rome. It is certainly different from main trends of uplifting travel videos.

This is the type of videography where ML shows what it is up to and how it can make our cameras shine.  Congratulations!

Would you please share how you were able to adopt the 10-18 lens to the 6D?  Did you cut the rear part?  If you can point to a video guide on that, I should appreciate that.  Also, if you provide some information on your color grading workflow, that would be useful too.

And finally a recommendation:  Your clips, are too short and this makes the entire film look chaotic, especially the timelapse scenes.  If you make the clips longer (3 to 5 sec. each) and chose a somewaht faster frame rate for the timelapses, the viewer will gain a much better impression of the places that the film was shot at.

Thanks.

I used small saw to remove the EFS plastic from behind, nothing hard - just be sure to remove it fully. On 6D it's safe to turn camera off when lens is on 10mm, on 5DIV mirror hits the lens and camera bricks, you've to remove battery to make it work again.

Grading for every video is different, so there's no particular advice how to it right.

Editing, well - there's no goal to give you entire impression of the exact location, but something bigger that will left after watching the whole piece. This is kind of modern way to deliver information to young content eaters.

Absolutely STUNNING! I visited Lisbon in the Spring and somehow missed EVERYTHING you shot! :D

Well, great that you can see things you missed? :)

I'm using cropmode for hyperlapses with 10-18 lens. 5-7fps 2:35 1824-1920 resolution. I've no idea why Canon in 5DIV could not implement most obvious feature that has nothing to deal with their cinema line: set timelapse interval shorter then 1s.

Great cinematography and colors. I see you're filming with 5DIV, why did you back to 6D?

Thanks. Well, yes currently 5D, image quality is superior to 6D in every aspect. Too bad that 5D w/o ML feels like a brick, rather then video tool.
