Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 650D / T4i
July 13, 2015, 04:49:28 AM
For Nightly.2015Jun24.650D104.zip and newer, I've noticed that overlays (esp. histogram) do not appear in still Playback mode.  Image review setting is CanonMnu:Hold->PLAY. Overlays and histogram are enabled. Is anyone else able to confirm?

Thanks...

Ran a quick test with my 650d, yn-622c flash triggers and a yn-560 flash.

Nightly version: July 16, 2014 (haven't upgraded yet. I believe the 3rd party flash tweak option was removed sometime in August).

In Liveview,

1) 3rd Party Flash Tweak enabled: camera hangs in any config

2) 3rd Party Flash Tweak disabled: a) Flash mounted on camera hotshoe - No flash triggered, b) Flash removed from camera and triggered through Yn-622c transceivers - Flash triggered OK.

I suspect that it works because the yn622 is intelligent and communicates back to the camera, looking more like a canon ettl flash...

Dan45, does your camera hang when you use the rf603c's?

My understanding is that the option was removed because there is an unresolvable issue (Issue #2081) with it.

I will check when I get home tonight but I think I've had success in LV in the past by using Yongnuo yn-622C flash triggers between the camera and the flash.

I see. Oh well, used Canons DPP for it, works fine.
If it helps, you could use Exposure Fusion to preview the combination of your exposures in the camera in Play mode.

You can assign Exposure Fusion to the SET+MainDial function under Image Review Settings in the Prefs menu. You can then preview the combination of 2 or more sequential shots.

Amazing...Thanks a lot, nanomad.

Just tested the latest build (Feb 20, 2014) and it works great in Photo or Liveview modes. Zebra and Histogram appear consistently now after each shot. Seems to work fine in Quickreview HOLD->PLAY mode as well.

Thanks again. This makes exposure checking and quick zooming for focus check so much faster...

The sensor is a dark square on the back, just below the flash hotshoe and above the viewfinder....

Touching the sensor or placing my hand in front of it seems to work fine. I would highly recommend downloading the latest nightly and trying everything again. A lot has changed in the last couple of weeks.

Hi. Thanks a lot to everyone for magiclanter. May someone tell me if shorcuts are enabled in 650d. I've tried it but nothing works. LCD sensor is enabled ( on and movie, i've tried both), and function is selected for arrow keys too. On the other hand, temperature is about 54 degres sometimes on movie mode. Is this a normal temperature to work with? Thanks an apologies for my poor english.

Which shortcuts are you specifically having problems with? In Liveview, I was able to enable/disable the arrow key shortcuts by covering the LCD sensor...Also, the Play mode shortcuts (Quick Erase, SET+control wheel, etc.) are working for me. Which build are you using?

Sorry, don't have much experience with temperature in movie mode. It seems that I remember seeing an earlier post regarding a similar issue though...

Thanks alex and nanomad for enabling more functions in the last few days.

Some testing I've done based on Feb 17, 2014 build:

1) The intervalometer "stop after x shots" seems to be working fine.

2) For GlobalDraw = "On, all modes" and  Image Review = "Canon/Mnu:Hold-> PLAY":
In Play mode, exposure tools overlay (zebra, histogram, etc.) appears only on alternating shots taken..i.e. appears only on every 2nd picture taken. When they do appear, any action (zooming in and back out, etc.) removes the overlay until another two shots are taken.

3) CPU usage now available under Debug menu

The current implementation requires a button for it (something that is not used normally in playback mode, and generates events).

It's possible to refactor the code so it will work without requiring a button, just triggered after taking a picture. If anyone feels brave, I recommend defining something like MLEV_TRIGGER_ZEBRAS_FOR_PLAYBACK in gui-common.h and using that event code in trigger_zebras_for_qr. Then, modify handle_livev_playback so it triggers the overlay from both event codes.

Something else I observed: After starting ML with default settings, only two options ever appear under Global Draw: "OFF" and "LiveView". If I select either option, I lose the overlays outside of LiveView / Video and there is no way to turn them back on without restoring ML defaults. Would this be related?

Next nightly will contain fixes to ML features in play mode

Thanks, nanomad.

Set+MainDial and Set+Erase functions both work now.

Would it make sense to assign the Av+/- button to toggle Zebras? As far as I know, it doesn't have any other function in playback mode and does generate Press and Unpress codes.

Can someone tell me if Zebras are supposed to appear in Playback mode? I only see them when Liveview is enabled. GlobalDraw is set to ON.

Stubs look fine. In the right place in the firmware.

Thanks, guys. Is there anything more as a user that I can do to help out (to isolate the problem)?

1) enable the GUI events option in Debug menu and see if the camera reacts to the SET button in playback mode. Write down the button codes.

2) no.

Thanks, Alex.

When I press the SET button alone, I get:

EV15: p= 52 *o= 0/ 0/ 0 a= 0
EV16: p= 4 *o= 0/ 0/ 0 a=0
EV17: p= 5 *o= 0/ 0/ 0 a=0

Hello, just installed magic lantern yesterday and it really is amazing. I'm starting to work through the various options and had a couple of questions:

1) I've enabled Quick Erase (SET+erase) and Set+MainDial (Expose Adjust) under the Image Review Settings on the Prefs page. However, neither is working for me. Both behave as if the Set button was never pressed. I've also enabled Image Review and Quick Zoom and they both ARE working. Has anyone else had a similar experience or am I doing something wrong? I'm using the Jan 11th nightly build.

2) After adjusting the White Balance in the ML menu, is there a way to set it back to Auto without going to the Canon menu?

Thanks..
