Raw Video / Re: Real world use of RAW video on DSLRs?
January 17, 2014, 06:33:55 AM
Of course there is a real world use for RAW. I've been using it for around 3 months now for music videos and short films.
I still use H264 for weddings because you don't have the time to concentrate as much on each shot when every moment happens so quickly on the day. I would love to be able to shoot a wedding in RAW.
Once you actually take the time to understand how it works and learn the workflow it becomes second nature and easy.

Filmed on a Canon 5D Mark III (using ML RAW) with Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens and a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Lens.
Edited in Premiere Pro CC and graded with RGB curves. Light leaks and film grain from Gorilla Grain.

Aspect ratio: 2:35.1 (1920 x 818) @ 25fps

I used two 32gb Lexar (1000x) CF cards and a HyperDrive ColorSpace UDMA2 for transferring/storage whilst on location, which has a 750GB WD 'Scorpio' Black 7200RPM 2.5" SATA inside.
