You need to make the card bootable. With new ML installs this happens automatically now, but since you reformatted the card you need to run EOScard on it, see here: http://www.magiclantern.fm/install.html

As for putting ML on the SD card, I do it that way because then I can just swap out non-ML CF cards when they're full and not worry about having ML on them. Especially helpful when/if you're in a jam and need to borrow/buy another CF card on the spot and can't install ML on it at that moment.

To do such, after ML install, just copy everything onto SD card, make it bootable and you're good to go (DO NOT NEED TO RUN FIRMWARE UPADTE AGAIN).

Great, thank! Can't remember that i had to do that the first time I installed ML on the 5D3. Remember i did that for the 7D though. Alzeimer Light kicking in i guess. Is MacBoot the OSX equiv. of EOScard btw?

Hi, have a couple of questions that i hope you guys can answer.

I recently upgraded from a 7D to the 5D3. Installed ML over 1.2.3 without any problems. However i only got about 60mb/s write speed with my SanDisk 32GB 120mb/s. decided to do a low level format of the card and also took the opportunity to format the card as exFat.

Do i need to do the installation (firmware update) again after copying the ML files back to the card? ML wont boot atm...

I ve seen threads where people install ML to the secondary SD card, is that something worth considering? Any pointer on how to do that?

First of all, big thanks to everyone that develops ML for 7D, and thanks to all who is active in this thread. Really useful stuff.
I've been using 2 different builds, atm i am using TL Nov 7. For some reason my camera stops recording after about 20 seconds or so. Started happening recently. Happens on both builds i've tried. Not using a very fast card though (60mb) Could it be related to that?
But what is weird is that i could record at least 50 seconds when i started out using ML. Usually shooting at 1728 700something, 2:35:1.
