I haven't used ML since a1ex was developing it for the 5dmk3, but once I figured out the new way to bulb ramp with this guide it was pretty much perfect.

First attempt once I got ML 1.2.3 working with my stage 1 dolly:

Worked great I think, I don't see any flicker. Thanks for the guide!

I'm the Nick that made that video you pasted and I'm back here now thanks to google, trying to figure out how to get ML 1.2.3 to tell my MX2 to move! It's a shame you had to get a new sync adapter, I was hoping my old cable I used to make that video would work. Pressing the shutter myself seems to work but when ML is controlling the shutter it's not sending the signal. :(

edit: ok i'm stupid. i was using my remote shutter cable instead of my flash sync cable. all works great now!

What do you mean? LRTimelapse has a huge feature list and they say it already does almost perfect deflickering.

Far from it really according to my experience :/

The script works brilliantly.

Deflickered:

I'll try the .xmp mod next and see if I can post-process further in Lightroom and still export with no flicker. :)

Thanks for all your hard work Alex!

Yes, I've used the CVS UFRAW.

You have probably set a ramping speed factor too small.

Compiling the CVS version now, should have a new lapse tomorrow.

0.050 EV for 15 seconds.. same as you suggested to me (if you meant max RampSpeed?).

EDIT: use the latest ufraw from CVS if your raws are coming from a 5dmk3.

3 seconds seem pretty tight for bulb ramping - especially with longer exposures which are actually done in bulb mode.

Yeah, I hadn't realised it required the extra time for metering, i'll move to 10 or 15 seconds next time I try it! Thanks Alex.

I tried out the bulb ramping with 2.3 RC1 - here's my result.. pretty good I think. Some deflickering with LRTimelapse, I didn't put too much effort into fixing the flicker but it did really well by itself I think. It was a basic 3 second interval on the Stage One dolly, though the ramping didn't say it got beyond 1" on the screen, some shots felt like they went for 2-3 seconds so it was a bit weird near the end, the dolly was moving as the shot was being taken at some points. (I don't have the move/shoot/move set up yet, still waiting on my PC sync cable so the dolly was acting independently to ML's intervalometer).

Thanks!

here's another where I thought I was bulb ramping but actually forgot to enable it, so I completely screwed up the exposure ;-) the use of black and white almost helped.. slightly.. much better ones to come :)

my first test with magic lantern and the stage one dolly.

At the moment the MX2 is controlling the camera and the dolly, as soon as I get a PC sync cable magic lantern will be deciding when the dolly moves :)
