I know Color is outdated and only goes to 2k. Davinci is a better, newer, more powerful solution... but i got a lot of noise from Davinci, let me explain:
Same clip, same post in Color very clean, in Davinci got a lot of noise
This is more evidently with proress HQ 1080p
I shot log and process in ACES

General Chat / Re: High ISO at noon ?
January 24, 2017, 07:38:09 AM
Me: In this difference: is the 1DC on the regular or the Cinema side?
Canon: While it may have many of the same features as a DSLR camera, we treat the EOS-1D C as part of our Cinema EOS line.

General Chat / Re: High ISO at noon ?

Canon just answered:

"Thanks for contacting Canon USA.  The sensors in our Cinema EOS cameras are different from the sensors in our regular EOS cameras.  As such, on an EOS 5D Mark III, we recommend using more traditional exposure calculations in regards to your ISO use.  Use a low ISO in bright conditions and a higher ISO in low-light conditions."

Here the actual white paper:

http://learn.usa.canon.com/app/pdfs/white_papers/White_Paper_sensitometric.pdf

And my point is:
According tha white paper...
if I am in a high key situation with highlights a lot of light seams to be better choose to use higher ISO
If I am an night or dark interior, low light or low key (lots of blacks) seams to be better to use low ISO

because I have more room on highlights with high ISO and more room on shadows with low ISO
With those c cameras

I wonder if the same goes for 5d mk 2 and 3

General Chat / High ISO at noon ?
January 21, 2017, 11:32:05 AM
Hello
in the C cameras of canon (as the c500), contrary to the obvious - as result of behavior of sensor in terms of  dynamic range- is better use high iso  at noon or at day and low iso at night (accordingly to the papers white of cannon) ¿is this applies also to the 5d mp3

Re @dfort "Now I sort of get what you are doing with the aperture but how are you getting those t values? 1/6th sec. to 1/8000 sec. exposures recorded on a Ninja 2. How?"

my setup:
datacolor graycard
arri fresnel 650 CTB 216
5dmk3
hdmi
atomos ninja blade waveform

base
f4     t: 1/60s   EI(ISO) 100 Profile NEUTRAL and EOS HD LOG
f4    t:1/800s EI(ISO) 1250  Profile NEUTRAL EOS HD LOG

process:
base exposure 50 IRE for NEUTRAL 32IRE for EOShdLog
overexpose using time exposure as possible until reach 99IRE
underpose using time exposure as possible until reach about 5IRE

@ImaXineria your table is rather difficult to read so if you don't mind I cleaned it up a bit.

   f      t    EI  STOPS
Neutral
   4      8   100       +3
   4     60   100        0.   TOTAL 6
   4    500   100       -3
   4    100  1250       +3
   4    800  1250       0.    TOTAL 6.5
   5   8000  1250       -3.5
Eos Log
   4      6   100       +3.3
   4     60   100         0.     TOTAL 8.6
   4   2500   100       -5.3
   4     80  1250       +3.3
   4    800  1250       0.      TOTAL 8.9
   9   8000  1250       -5.6

Now what are we looking at? I assume f = f-stop and t = time but what is IE? Do you mean EI = exposure index? What about STOPS?

This looks interesting and very much on topic but could you please give a clearer explanation of this table?
Thanks!
EI means ISO
Stops - underexposed or + overexposed  from base exposure

the that i am trying to discover is the dynamic range of sensor with different pictures profiles and EI (ISO) so could learn if picture profile really increases the dynamic range or only allows visually the color correction

and know if the chart  for the sensors of the series c cameras also works with the 5dmk3 camera in where it says that -contrary to the logic- the  high EI increase the  dynamic range towards the high lights and the low EI increase the dynamic range towards the low lights

I have no idea where is the right place to post this
I got this results
Does somebody could confirm are acurate?
Please?

@Kharak: Thanks for the answer. How do you get the number?
or how did you get the number (base ISO)?

@dfort: wonderful. great info. Really really thanks a lot

Im not sure this is the right place for these noobie question but:

http://s1119.photobucket.com/user/hingsberg/media/canon_c-log_iso.png.html

I saw this for the sensor on C canon cameras, this works for 5dmk3 too?
Seams the native/base ISO of cinema cameras are 640. As ask before does anybody knows the one for 5dmk3?
and finally... in the same papers said the 18% should be at 32.79% IRE for Cinema Cameras. Does anybody knows if the same goes for all this news C-log picture profiles?

@chungdha With this clog: Is The 18% at  32IRE as in others clog cameras?

General Help Q&A / Re: 5DMKIII RAW + Atomos Ninja Blade
September 21, 2014, 08:10:39 AM
I use:
Atomos ninja blade
5d3 with Cf sandisk
SmallHD
And i record without any issue, raw on camera proress on atomos (the fatest proress)
Only have to press record on each one but all works flawless
I use smallhd to frame and focus (because ninja record full size hdmi eventhoug my raw is 2.40:1 or so and i not have any reference)
I use raw for tv comercial, short film, theatrical realese, and proress for tv show, documentary or lowpaid

what kind of corruption?
