Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 700D / T5i

I am not having any of the problems that 113 fixes and I can't read Korean, so this firmware release is less than useless to me. Future cams will probably ship with it though, so ML will need to be updated.

I think he is referring to the front or back focusing and general viewfinder autofocus failure that some Germans are seeing from this body. Word is that it only involves the center AF point and large apertures, but that makes no sense since the camera auto focuses at max aperture always. Not sure what's happening.

I am not seeing it on my 70D, but it's the American version.

I love my 70D it kicks ass in so many ways, but I kept my 700D for magic lantern.

I am not able to disable the bootflag on my T5I.

Update firmware with same fir that I used to enable it. I get no green txt.
I switch from M to something else. No effect.

If I want to run without ML I remove the bootable flag from the SD.

I would buy a cheap game camera to place by the food dish. I am sure you will get all sorts of interesting video.

Very nice work indeed from everyone involved. I learned a lot just by watching, thanks for the post.

And the gopros are tough, I've seen them drop 20 feet onto concrete and just keep on recording.

I have seen them grind against pavement at 50 MPH and keep on recording.

Amazing little cameras. I love the 120 fps modes. Fantastic slow motion work.

Cheers

Liked it a lot. I shoot motor sports and find myself using the gopro more and more. Magic lantern for gopro?  ;)

Thanks for the quick reply!

I am really interested in this camera, but is there a ML for the 2.0.2 firmware for this camera?

Yes, the question is asked a lot, but always coyly tiptoed around. It's annoying.

The answer to the question is that you must have a 700D Magic Lantern .fir file to enable the camera to boot from the SD card.

In theory, you get the MagicLantern .fir file on your SD card, then "upgrade" the firmware on the camera. This .fir file only sets a flag (on the camera) to allow your camera to boot from the SD card, if the correct ML autoexec.bin is present on the bootable SD card. After that you can discard or keep the .fir (I would keep to be able to turn the boot flag off someday), and just add the ML files to a bootable SD card every time there is a new nightly. No need to re-up your camera once the flag is set to boot except to set it not to boot from SD. There is a significant time penalty on camera startup when the camera looks to boot from SD first, internal firmware second.

Finding that 700D 1.1.1 .fir file is the trick. There ain't one, at least as far as I can find. There WAS one but the file was deleted from the sharing service.

You can build one from the source code from what I understand but I don't feel like experimenting on my new camera, so I would like to have a "known good" version for the bit set .fir. A tiny piece of the overall puzzle. A one off operation.
