thanks for sharing, do you have a video of what it actually looks like on the viewfinder?

I am hoping for the speedbooster as well, maybe the guys at metabones are waiting for Canon's commitment to the eos-m before they build one

I gave it a test for portraits to see how it would affect midtones: (dng left side, I took 2 shots, one raw and another for dual-iso)

Not that noticeable when zoomed out. Please ignore the color, must be some color adjustment I missed in editing.

Zoomed in:

Moire is kind of bothersome for the hair, in some shots it went really bad for the skin detail.

Interesting to note the banding in the sky:

Dual-iso setting is 100/1600

I'm going to try a less powerful setting next, maybe a 100/400, I really don't like moire even in the midtones (maybe a lesser setting may prevent it? ). Kind of hard to fix it without affecting detail. I still like dual-iso, it has it's use for high contrast situations, but it would've been great for general use.

wow I didn't expect a new feature to pop up from this post :D , thanks very much :)

Been trying out a copy from bot-fly's page, so far so good, full-res preview doesn't seem to work (eos-m) but the low-res box works just fine for me. There is one lock-up so far, I will try a test shoot very soon this week

I didn't think my post got any replies, but I got the eos-M anyway :) thanks for the inputs :) ,

I would've gone to a fujifilm x100 but local warranties prevented me from getting it. I just couldn't pass up on the great local deals here so I got the 22mm + adapter bundle, and paid pretty much as close as buying a high-end point and shoot like the panasonic lx series.. the 22mm was fantastic :)

Hopefully Canon continues supporting the eosm, they've released a new lens for it recently so that's reassuring. What's odd is that I was expecting eosm2 to be announced sometime this year but nothing yet =/ It's not much of an issue I guess, I got a 3 year warranty so the camera should last with my ef lenses.

Been testing it with dual-iso and ettr lately, it's a bit tricky working with a touch screen but I guess I'll get used to it eventually. So far so good, I'm liking this a lot

thank you, hmm if it's just colors then it's probably ok for judging sharpness I guess.

I guess it's safe to assume that shooting raw+jpeg will yield the same result? (previewing jpeg only to see the normal shot)

General Help Q&A / Can you preview dual-iso shots?
October 05, 2013, 12:50:36 PM
Sort of a quick question.. (sorry the dual-iso thread is tooo long)

When dual-iso is used can we still preview the image in-cam? I've seen some posts that the preview in cr2 is messed up but I don't know by how much or if it was an old issue ...

I may just bite into the eos-m deals in a day or two, I would appreciate some input on what's broken or fantastic about it so far :)  dual-iso and ettr will decide my purchase here

beautiful :) watched it til the end.

Which scene was shot by the 1100d and what lens was used on both bodies? I've been trying to do this but never got much luck spotting the milky way from where I'm from.

Really awesome to know, been debating to myself whether to get the eos-m+22mm+adapter or an x100, it's the dual-iso that sold me here because now I can take advantage of my canon lenses ... plus the x100 was kinda bulky and slow when I tried it =/ there's the x100s but it's more expensive

sorry for the off-topic :P

The Dual_ISO (the only feature that I really care about works just as it should).

I have a Dual_ISO related question (infact 2):

The pictures of people (especially where the close up has a lot of skin almost always shows ugly grains in the shadow area (especially the borders) after processing with cr2hdr.exe. Not sure what version of cr2hdr I am using ( downloaded the latest one 2 weeks ago from Alex's Dual_ISO thread ). The funny thing is when I look at the same picture as a CR2 (unprocessed with the dual horizontal alternating lines), the picture looks fine. Anything I am doing wrong?

good to know it's working, I've been looking into buying an eos-m just for this purpose (dual-iso) because of all the sales and discounts going around.

But how bad was that grain issue? can you post for us a sample please?

Beautiful shots! I wanted to try it so bad to my 5dmkiii but I think I may want to play it safe and wait for it to be stable

eos-m got my attention after Canon finally fixed the slow focusing issue and now that dual-iso is available I think I see some users here posting something about eos-m + dual-iso, but I'm not sure how well or if it really works(?) , can anyone please confirm and maybe post some samples?

There should be a new eos-m upcoming in a few weeks maybe, canon rumors are already hinting about it plus discontinued statuses in online shops. But I wonder how much improvement is there added to it? the way Canon has been releasing bodies recently, I'm not expecting much ...

If I wait for the new one it'll be more expensive, plus I will have to wait for ml compatibility again and dual-iso may or may not work at all. If I buy now at least I know ML will work for it (for dual-iso maybe a grey area) and it'll be cheap ... what do you think?
