Seems to be 650D-specific (can't reproduce on my cameras). A video might provide some clues about what's going on.

I can reproduce this behavior on a 650D with the most recent build. I made a small video:

And thx for looking into the missing overlay on 650D/700D :)

Hi all

I recently updated the firmware and ML versions on my 650D and found that I had suddently lost the ability to view accurate RAW histograms/zebras, please see http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7473.msg100618#msg100618. Answering this post a1ex kindly referred me to a previous post on this http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7473.msg95940#msg95940 and apparently its not that easy re-enable.

If I had enough insight into the ML code base and knew C better than I do, I would try to fix this myself, but I dont :( However, I think it is quite an important feature to have on upper-beginner level cameras like 650D/700D and it was the main reason why I installed ML in the first place. I think there many other 650D/700D owners are missing this feature.

I hope this is not too much off topic, but it is kinda of a feature request :)

I love using all the awesome features of ML, but getting the RAW stuff back would make it even more awesome.

Thanks for all the great work you do,

I wrote about it a few posts ago: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=7473.msg95940#msg95940

Ah I see, so its non-trivial to enable it.. I would donate 20 EUR instantly if it got fixed soon (gonna do it anyway though, dual ISO made me less sad I did not get Nikon : ).

But what about my speculations about the accuracy of the raw histogram in LV, can you trust it as well as a post-picture histogram?

And GREAT job on ML in general, really love it.

Something else I observed: After starting ML with default settings, only two options ever appear under Global Draw: "OFF" and "LiveView". If I select either option, I lose the overlays outside of LiveView / Video and there is no way to turn them back on without restoring ML defaults. Would this be related?

I am having the same issue and I am using the most recent nightly build.

As far as I understand this means that you cannot which a raw histogram after the picture is taken, only before using LV... Looking under the "overlay" section on http://builds.magiclantern.fm/#/features, OVERLAYS_IN_PLAYBACK_MODE is unchecked for 650D and 700D, so this quite essential feature is missing?

Until recently I was using Canon firmware 1.0.1 and a ML version from last summer and here I could easily view the raw histogram in playback mode (press and hold PLAY button) and it popped up automatically in the QuickReview of a picture just taken.

I would really love to get this feature back, as I guess it is the most accurate raw histogram available in ML. The LV one must be based on something less accurate than the post-picture version right?

raw histogram in photo mode doesn´t appear or at least is extremely slow.
video mode it´s normal. maybe 1-2 second delay.

is it normal?

global draw all modes.
zebras : raw rgb
Histogram: rgb, lin, dots, raw
All others: off

It's working now, both in photo and video mode, and yes its quite slow in photo mode. I think my problem was I had not toggled through all the modes using the INFO button...

Thx a lot!

Hi all,

I running 1.0.1 and the ML build from a few weeks ago and everything I have used have worked, most HDR bracketing. Thx for an awesome addition to my camera!

I do however have one question. While RAW RGB histogram works brilliantly in picture preview mode, I can't get it to work in LiveView mode, in fact the LiveView interface seems very much the same as always. Is this how it's suppose to be or am I doing something wrong?

Thx again for ML! :)

Best,
