Probably no quad iso but some other regs do interesting things.

5DII does it, just not in LV.

1%, care to elaborate, pm is fine so we don't muck up the thread anymore idc either way. Ty

First ML ran on 5D2, I have here ML 0.16 or so... So does it mean dual iso will definitely not be available on the 5D2?  : ???

1%  said just a few posts ago, dual iso works on 5d2 just not in live view, I've personally never used live view for dual iso, I rarely use lv at all.

no, if you read the pdf a1ex prepared on the 1st page of this thread, it all started with 5D Mark III & 7D because of they have dual CPUs
Not so, here's the quote from the PDF ...... Re-read it, it says....

Unfortunately, most other Canon cameras follow a different pattern for the CMOS #0 register, without any obviously duplicate fields. As we know from Canon specs, most cameras have a 4-channel sensor readout, except for 5D Mark III and 7D which have a 8-channel readout.

8channel readout, is the readout from the sensor, has nothing to do with how many cpu's said cam has, Afaik, the 5d3 doesn't have dual digic like the 7d

The register has 2 isos in it.. maybe on a 4 channel it uses 2 and 2, on an 8, 4 + 4?
I wonder if this means the 8 channel sensors may be able to do "Quad ISO" that would be astounding,
wonder if anyone's looked into this.... Very intriguing .... Thanks 1%.

I think its ported to almost every camera, some don't do it in LV tho.
That's quite amazing, considering only 2 maybe 3 cameras have the 8 channel sensor, the 5d3, 7d and the ?6d? I'm not sure about the 6d, I'm just wondering how its done on cams that only have the 4 channel sensor. Amazing amazing work !!

60D Dual ISO build https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=12771D90C09D1BCB!156&authkey=!AKIlr0pSWRB0uLs
and Dual ISO.c https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=12771D90C09D1BCB!185&authkey=!ABf4aY3iIWdNzG8
Works on my 60D photo and video.  :)

After reading the dual iso pdf, I thought this module was only able to work on 5d3 && 7d because of the hardware, so how does this now work on the xxD cameras that only have the 4 channel readout vs. the 8 channel readout of the 5d3 && 7d? && does this work on xxxD as well? I'm soon to get another aps-c body and was going to get another 7d but if this will work on xxD && xxxD I may well get a rebel. TIA.

Anytime my friend.

But you can't put it to work/load the autoexpo.mo?  I have load it now. After load the module i go to expo tab in ML menu, scroll down and is there.

Didn't try this last version from Audionut... is this last version the audionut upload that you ca't load? And the oldest evrsion you can? (just for trying understand what happen)

@Audionut

Hi,
you can't make a 7D due to compile errors? But this compile errors is because it's for the 7D?
I'm sorry i didnt explain better, the version I have now is the same as the one you posted for me to download
and yes it works wonderfully, I was saying the version that audionut posted will not load for me, then he posted that
it wouldnt work as he couldnt compile for 7D. Im trying my own compile now,and unfortunately i am having to use the cygwin method as my linux box is down indefinitely. many thanks for your help anyway..

Here.  You will probably need a recent build for the 7D for the module to work.
I cant get it to load, im running 2013Aug20.7D203

is there a module for the 7d with the most recent changes or should i figure out how to build it?

Tragic Lantern / Re: 7D Raw Thread

Is it possible to run the dual iso, raw burst and raw modules on the 7D without the "risky" autoboot?  Maybe I'm just plain stupid, but I've read these 7D threads up and down, followed various instructions and can't get the "Modules Tab" to appear.

Idk whats so risky about setting the boot flag on the camera to auto boot.... Worked like a charm && zero problems for me, I'd say go for it..... FWIW, I've boot flagged 3 400d's (for the 400plus hack) and 2 7d's and 1 50d and 1 5d mkIII, all without incident.... Can someone fill me in on what could go wrong when bootflagging a body?

I just noticed a problem that I THINK it is related to Magic Lantern.. cause I read it around here but now cannot find the specific posts.

I use my 7D for filming only, hardly ever take any photos. So last friday I got a photo job.. ok, let's do it! But it looks like the autofocus works like crap!! At first it wasn't working at all.. half-pressed my shutter button and nothing, completely dead.. Tried swapping batteries, cards, removing ML, nothing.. still the same.. the lens worked ok, because I tested it on another camera earlier.. So after several tried, workarounds, taking pics in manual mode, then turning autofocus on, etc etc I managed to get it partially working.. it didnt work all the time.. every now and then I had to swap the AF-MF button on the lens.. :/

I think it is ML related because I think I read around this thread that people had 7D's with autofocus broken... truth is I am really scared about this.. if this is true I won't be able to sell the camera, or take pictures.. am I hallusinating or does this happened before? If so, is there any fix??

BTW I haven't been able to test it with another lens.. but the one that was given was good I believe!!!

Thank you very much to all, I love ML and hope there's a way out to this!!!!
Cheers!

It sounds like your focus got taken off the shutter half press and is only on the af/on button on the back of the cam next to the * button. If this is what happened you can change it back in the custom functions. This is called back button autofocus && is a feature some (most) prefer. HTH
Cheers ....

General Help Q&A / Display Question
August 19, 2013, 08:00:42 AM
I'm having a hard time finding info on what the number is on the left side of my battery icon on my display. In this image its a 1 and the three boxes on the right of the battery icon aren't lit, sometimes with a different set of batteries the number is 4 and the three boxes on the right of the battery icon are all lit. I can't find info anywhere and any insight is appreciated. TIA...

Modules Development / Re: Dual ISO - CR2HDR

I've recompiled cr2hdr.exe and re-uploaded it, just in case. No code changes.

Just wondering if/when there will be a build that takes command line switches? Or does it already do this and I am missing it?
Cheers....

Tragic Lantern / cr2hdr options (7D Raw Thread)
August 16, 2013, 07:48:17 AM
I'm looking for some info on the cr2hdr app, && this seems like an ok pace to ask. I can't seem to find any info
For command line switches for this. I'm using this on win xp, my Linux box is down indefinitely and the windows console blows compared to zsh. Thanks for any info.
Cheers....

Ok, with that out of the way...
Make sure your camera is updated to the latest version: 2.0.3
Download the following:
7D firmware v1.1.0 http://pel.hu/down/eos7d110.exe (Thanks to Pelican)
booton.bsdiff: http://pel.hu/ML/booton.bsdiff
bspatch.exe: http://download.pokorra.de/coding/bsdiff_win_exe.zip
EOScard 1.38b software http://pel.hu/down/EOScard.exe (Thanks to Pelican!)

Prepare the folder:
1.  Run eos7d110.exe which will extract a file to a specific folder. I made a folder named MagicLantern on my desktop and extracted the file there.
2.  Move booton.bsdiff to that same folder.
3.  Extract bsdiff_win_exe.zip to that same folder
You should now have a folder with 5 files in it: 7d000110.fir, bsdiff.exe, bspatch.exe, license, and booton.bsdiff.

Create the update file
4.  Open command prompt (start - run - cmd, or type cmd in the start search bar, or start - programs - accessories - command prompt)
5.  Use the CD command to change the directory to the folder you put the files in. You can do this by opening the folder you created and copying the address (in the address bar at the top) and right click - paste in the command prompt.
For me this looked like 'C:\Users\Jon> CD C:\Users\Jon\Desktop\MagicLantern'<Enter>
6.  Now type: bspatch 7d000110.fir 7dbooton.fir booton.bsdiff and press enter.
You should now see a file named '7dbooton.fir'. This is your update file, you will need it in a moment.

Prepare your CF card
7.  Make sure you have a freshly formatted card. I like to format the card as NTFS in windows then format the card again in the camera which changes the filesystem.
8.  Run EOScard. Select your CF card from the list.
9.  Check EOS_DEVELOP and BOOTDISK
10.  Right click the ML icon
11.  Select 7d 2.0.3 alpha2 from the ports in progress.
12.  When the download finishes click SAVE at the top. Wait for it to finish writing files to your CF card
13.  Copy the '7dbooton.fir' file you created before to the CF card (don't put it in any folders).

Update your camera
14.  Put your CF card in your camera, set the dial to M, and turn er on.
15.  Open the menu, select the wrench, then firmware update.
16.  After the camera updates check MagicLantern by pressing the trashbin button.
17.  Check autoboot by turning off the camera, turning it on again, and pressing the trashbin button again.

Please note these steps / this method is newly developed. I could not personally test it, please post any results / issues so we can help you fix them! And if it works as advertised let us know as well! Thanks!

Very good/detailed instructions, i followed them as said and have no problems running this.
Just a quick FYI in case it hasn't been said and i haven't seen it anywhere on here. After
the update firmware is done with the 7dbooton.fir, that file doesnt need to be used anymore on any
subsequent CF cards, and you dont need to use the "update firmware" option if you use multiple CF
cards, all you need is the autoexec.bin file in the root directory of your CF card, and the boot flags from
running EOScard on said CF card. And of course the ML
directory and all it contents :-)
Cheers . . . .
