The bitrate options, more specifically the bitrate build, allowed the 600D to go up to 38fps in Full HD without line skipping. I have used this in paid gigs many times. I even bought a second 600D because of the features of T_.

Does any other camera do this? I'll have to see when I get a 5d3 but my 5d2 certainly doesn't.

oooook just read the rest of that other post where everyone is going on about it. Long story short...

Not to mention that bitrate adjustments and beep code from TL were implemented by removing the safety checks (assertions) from Canon code. These checks are there for a reason, and disabling them is something I don't agree with.
While a lot of people may stay with T_ because of this, the work that has been done throughout ML doesn't ever go unrecognized. Maybe if you have been around for a while then you certainly know where T_ came from and the ground that was broken through ML.

...Umm, where exactly did you shoot? I've been researching where Greenstone is but I'm guessing it is just a nick name. I know its the southern island of New Zealand but what region of that island are the opening first shots from. Especially the water falls... Thanks, and again great gob!

Greenstone is found in rivers around Hokitika. The opening shots look like Fjiordland. Opening shot looks to be Mitre peak, behind the cloud. I'm guessing.

Shot an ad for a binge drinking campaign called Yea Nah. The most liked ad ends up on TV. Had only a few days to do it so I opted for h.264 instead of mlv.
Shot mostly on the shoulder with a 50mm and graded with Colorista II.

Let me know what you think.

If you like it don't forget to press like  :D!

Thanks for your quick answer. That's bad, how do you do when you want to check quickly your shot on location?

You can play some of them back, other times you can skip forward to wherever in you clip and play maybe a few seconds from there.

RAW doesn't look like a proper solution on the smaller cameras like 600D

This topic is not about RAW but about getting the most out of the existing compression.

This build is my favourite build, but it doesnt allow for modules. Would be awesome if this was combined with the other builds to allow for some of the other stuff, dual iso especially.

That way we wont have to switch builds for different purposes.

Are they a screen grab from your final export or individual frames from the .raw? Might be your export settings.

BTW, I saw a video doing 50 or 60fps on the MK II, does anyone know how it's done?

Where is this video, I'd like to see it. Until then I'm sure it would've been a 5d3 or a 7d...or twixtor etc

I think I have my 5DII recording at up to 35fps now.

Care to share how? Can only get mine to 31ish?

if you can explain how a dslr works, i bet you will overthink this idea.

Oh lol I see now... mirror goes up to expose the sensor?

Just been using the bitrate build of tragic lantern and it seems to be able to shoot at 37.8 with LV on, at higher bitrates even. Awesome!

General Help Q&A / Highest usable 1080p Framerate?
August 24, 2013, 12:09:49 PM
Does anyone have any methods for getting the most out of the FPS override in terms of overcranking? Please don't just say the cameras don't go over 30p... or that you get 37 displayed but you haven't ever tried it... I've searched a heap but can only find posts where people state a rough figure ie 35/37fps but never actually say if they've tried it or how they did it.

I'm keen to hear if anyone has actually utilized this and what your techniques were?

I know the highest FPS Override gives is 37.8fps. The only way I have been able to get this on my t3i is with global draw off, video hacks on, and liveview off in powersave after 5 secs. The safest (without jello) framerate I can get up to is 35.5fps, with global draw off, video hacks on, and live view on. I'm using a Sandisk 16gb 45mbs. Perhaps a 95mbs card would yeild better results? Or do the SD write speed limitations apply here?

Is there a way to turn liveview off as soon as you hit record? and leave the VF active? That way you could still see what you are shooting. Also I wonder if it would be possible to use small hacks without turning on raw video?

Would be awesome to be able to shoot 36fps for music videos etc.

I can get 37.8fps on my 600D. Thats with hacks on, global draw off and Liveview off. Can get 35.5fps with liveview on. Put it on 24p in the canon menu and it will play back at 24fps...slow motion.

On my 5D2 can only get 31fps. Anyone know if there is a difference in image quality?

Can certainly tell the difference between RAW and H.264 but amazing footage none the less. I doubt the general public would see any difference.

It seems RAW has made big waves in the industry with a massive price drop on the BMCC.

Just got an email today:

QuoteBlackmagic Cinema Camera Price Reduction

We have worked very hard over the last year to be able to build the Blackmagic Cinema Camera at a lower cost so we can reduce the price and allow access to digital filming to a wide range of cinematographers and photographers.

We have done it and from today the Blackmagic Cinema Camera EF and MFT models will be reduced in price to US$1,995. This is very exciting and is one of the proudest moments of my life to be able to do this!

I think people will be able to use the savings to invest in some exciting lenses and rigs to really boost the creative possibilities. The Blackmagic Cinema Camera is a fantastic design that's now well proven. The advantage of the 2.5K sensor is it has enough resolution to eliminate the bayer resolution loss of a HD sensor, but when shooting RAW it produces files that are too not to big to store and work with easily. It's a fantastic solution.

All orders placed that have not yet been filled, can be reduced to the new lower price.

So its now much cheaper than a 5d3...

Still the 60p is a massive drawcard that will have me going for the 5d3 over the BMCC. Interesting if ML had anything to do with this price drop or if it was on the cards for while.

The price war has begun.

Me too. Amazon wont ship them to New Zealand either. Have contacted Amazon to see if they will ship to nz.

Yea have tossed up whether to send one to my brother in oz and have him send it over but the risk that it wont work is too great. Cant imagine trying to send it back for a second or third one. Went for a Lexar 32gb instead, got it for half the trademe price. Goes hard.

There is something about having to download the patch to use the card with a usb3.0 reader
