Raw Video / Re: 14 bit h264 video possible?
June 27, 2013, 06:41:20 AM
well, would it work to record 24fps H.264 via HDMI, and record 6fps raw internal into the CF?

95+20 is smaller than 120 if I'm not mistaken...

(that's the theoretical speed, according to benchmarks)

I thought it is suppose to be 100+ on the 5D3? As stated in the spread sheet that is.
(100+)+20 would be 120+, if my elementary math skill does not fail me that is.  :)

120+MB/s would enable 48fps HFR on 2K 2.39.

It probably is, but we have no idea how to do it.

haha, maybe someday.
thank you for all the hard work so far  :)

Speed: 5D3 has around 90 (100+ is only in photo mode)

ah, I thought you said around 90? typo?
sorry about that if I misquoted you.

ah, never mind, I see your point  :)

Right now the spread sheet states 5D3 CF write speed as 100.
I assume that is referring to Photo Mode? As a1ex has stated in Reply#3 that in video mode is only 90.
May need some clarification on that.

No, it's not. H.264 happens on a dedicated chip, 14-12 conversion from the other thread is done on the ARM CPU.

Thanks for the clarification :)
I assume H.264 chip is not programmable to do the 10/12 bit instead?

Also note that 10/12 bit is not going to work at FullHD resolutions, unless you overclock the CPU by a factor of 2 or 3.

Isn't the camera doing the H.264 conversion even when recording raw?
If that can be turned off, would it be possible for 10/12 bit with that extra clock cycles?
