Sure, but isn't the pin out different for ZIF HD and CF? So the converter board would be expecting to see something else.

ZIF:  http://pinoutsguide.com/HD/ata_sata_zif_pinout.shtml

CF: http://pinouts.ru/Memory/CompactFlash_pinout.shtml

Might need something in between to re map the pins? then use a IDE to SATA board.

The Eskabel site seems to have a warning about connecting a IDE HD to a CF socket.

http://en.esskabel.de/adapter/datasheet/ada-hdd-18-zif-cf-sm/186

QuoteATTENTION: Do not use this adapter board to connect hard disks to compactflash sockets. It will damage the HDD. It is only designed to replace an old HDD with 50pin embedded-ATA connector which looks similar to a CF-connector (therefore the name of the adapter) by a new ZIF-hard disk!

Here is my take on a solution that may work using only off the shelf parts.  I do not have a CF capable camera so have no way of testing this.

The plan goes like this
CF Host : CF->40p ZIF adapter (1) : 40p ZIF cable (2) : 40p ZIF to 7+15p SATA SSD adapter1 (3): SATA extension (4) + power injection2 (5) : SATA SSD

Nice find, Do you think it is bi directional? Normally those adapters are to connect a ZIF HD to a motherboard. The ATA to SATA converters have a switch to change from host to device.

I hope you guys pull this off. I'm no coder or electronics engineer but I'm able to do some mechanical/industrial design work to help out.

Thanks for the tool chmee! My footage looked good in resolve.

One question do you set the black level and white level from the raw file or is this a default setting? Should I change this value to suit the 550D? I assume this value is in the EXIF somewhere does it depend on the footage or is it always the same?

In other tools such as RAWanizer, using the tiff files, there was a purple cast and it clipped the top of the whites. While using your tool it cam out fine and I was able to access the camera raw tools in resolve which I couldn't do before.

Well, according to this bitrate calculator and considering the 22mbps buffer limit, we should be able to get stable 1280*544 24p. (Assuming we can use 10bit) That allows to export 2.35:1 720P video without any upscaling or frame interpolation (with black bars). That's bloody amazing, especially considering that the original purpose of Magic Lantern was to skip the audio auto-levels on the MarkII!

http://web.forret.com/tools/video_fps.asp?width=1280&height=544&fps=24&space=raw&depth=10

Nice tool, so if the limit is 22MB/s and we if we could adjust the size per px would these be the maximum resolutions the 550d could theoretically do @ 24p?

Ratio  Horizontal px  Vertical px  Bit Rate (MB/s)
1.3398774221.97
1.66110266421.95
1.77113864321.95
1.85116462921.96
2.4132655322

Its pretty crazy what the ML team have been able to do thanks to all the devs for making this happen!

edit: Ignore my witterings I see the somone else mentioned the limit is 21.3MB/s.

Raw Video / Re: 550d/T2i RAW Help
June 01, 2013, 10:05:19 PM
No need to start editing code if you just want to give it a try. take a look at the 550D thread. There are a couple of developers uploading test builds.

this is the latest one: http://www.mediafire.com/download/bmxuj7uobt7fudi/ML_Mem_All_Fix2.zip

Extract the zip then copy the files over the current 2.3 build on your SD card.

Then activate the RAW_rec module within ML (turn dial to movie then press the delete key to enter the ML menu structure) then you can turn on raw video in the movie settings of ML. Select your res exit the menu and then you can try and record some raw video.
