I stumbled upon this topic and I have the same exact problem. I have tried everything and at the moment have given up on installing ML on my 5DM3.

General Help Q&A / Re: I need help fast!!!
June 06, 2014, 02:28:03 AM
Sorry I've been in the military too long and I got a little used to having to shorten our sentences due to enemy fire lol. Anyways, ML just won't work anymore. I get as far as the little smily face :) and ML won't open by pressing the trash button. So I tried turning it on and off and that wasn't working. I finally gave up and decided just to uninstall it but I couldn't even format the card anymore. After a while of troubleshooting I just installed the newest firmware back on and that worked. Recently I just purchased the new Blackmagic 4k so I'll just play with that camera until there is a more stable build that can be used in production shoots. Thank you though.

General Help Q&A / I need help fast!!!

Ok so I tried to reinstall ML on my Canon 5D Mark III and for some reason my camera just won't take it anymore. I've used ML for a couple years, maybe even longer and I've never had a problem. But for some reason I can't make it work on my camera. I finally gave up and decided to uninstall and return the new firmware but it just won't let me. What do I do now?  :-\

I figured out what happened because I have done it again with my Canon 5D Mark III. I will post what happened and how I fixed it once I am absolutely sure I have the proper solution.

Okay so I have been messing around with the Mark III and after using After Effects and some sharpening and color grading I take back what I last said about this camera. It is pretty damn good. Now it's time to try ML on it and see what my results are.

So I found a Canon 5D Mark III after my Mark II died on me last week. The price was so cheap I just had to buy it. I found it for 2,399.00 at Calumet photography in Chicago. I haven't really messed with it that much yet, but the few times I did use it I am not really impressed. I tried filming inside my apartment and I noticed the footage is very noisy and kind of crappy to be rather blunt. I compared it to my Blackmagic pocket on Pro Res and it looked like garbage. Is there a chance I bought a bad camera? Or am I just being very picky? I don't remember my Mark II being this noisy. I am going to do some tests and post the footage soon so maybe I can get some feed back from everyone. I won't put Magic Lantern on it since it's used. I want to use it as it is for a bit and then once I'm confident it's fine I will try ML.

That was one of the options I first tried, I didn't get any positive results. I've had both batteries out for the past 45 minutes and I just placed them back in and still nothing. At the moment I am looking for a new camera to replace this one because this was my workhorse. I used it for everything! I've had the new Blackmagic camera for a while now and I still use my Canon 5D for most of my video. I have a photo shoot tomorrow so at least I have a 7D I can use till I replace this one. Thank you everyone for your help! Good night.

Yes I've pretty much done all of the above. At the moment I have both batteries removed and I'm hoping that the Canon Gods will be good to me and maybe I can at least get the camera back on. I work on Apache helicopters so I'd like to think I'm good at troubleshooting. So I'm just going through all the options you guys are giving me. Oh and yes I did try turning it on with the dial on every single setting.

Not sure how to go to cam emergency department. I'm about to walk over to the 24 hour Walgreens to buy a small screwdriver and remove the clock battery and see if maybe I can reboot the camera. I'm running out of options at this point.

Yes the very first thing I did was remove the battery. And I don't have another 5D to format a card. And yes I was running a nightly build with the particular card it happened with.

I tried pretty much everything now and I think I'm going to have to call it. Time of death: 11:00 PM

Yes I've tried several different batteries. All I did was accidentally delete some stuff on my card and after that nothing, just a dead camera.

I'm not understanding. I don't know how I would when I can not turn the camera on.

Yeah that's what I've been reading for the past 20 minutes. This might be the end for my camera.

Ok I think it might be because I'm panicking, but I'm having trouble thinking. How do I remove the boot flag? This is what I've done so far, which is probably really stupid but I just started doing all sorts of trouble shooting on my own. I couldn't get the camera on so I reformatted the card on my computer and put ML back on the card and that didn't work. So now I'm trying to google other steps to take.

I think I deleted something off my CF card and now I can't get my camera back on. I could really use some help right about now. I've been using ML on my Canon 5D Mark II for almost two years now. I've never had a problem before. Can anyone help me with some trouble shooting? I really need my camera up and running before tomorrow.  :-\

Here's a video I filmed at the skatepark using three of my cameras. I used my Canon 7D, my Canon 5D Mark II, and my GoPro Hero 3. Some footage is in regular H264, and then I have RAW footage and GoPro footage.

I like using Davinci Resolve for my color grading. All I do is take my DNG folders onto Davinci and do all grading on there. It's actually quite simple.

I use Davinci to color correct.

A technical question:
Did you use Adobe ACR or my raw2dng for encoding to ProRes?

My visit to Santa Monica

Here's a little something I did hanging out with my girlfriend. I used two other cameras in this video also. The Canon 7D and a GoPro Hero 3 Black edition.

I took a trip to California this past week and decided to try filming in RAW. I then edited the pro res files real quick to come up with this little video.
