16.03.2014 – v1.4.9.6 – bug fixing
* timecode set to 00:00:00:00
* framerate in dng fixed
* mlv-batchmode fixed
* framesCount in GUI fixed

* 16bit and 12bit linear partymode are ok (in photoshop, acr, resolve and premiere, i think speedgrade as well, not tested)
* 12bit log/bmcc and 10bit are not really useable by now. investigating.

* linking video/audio in resolve via rightbutton link. searching for the according filename-conventions to get it automatically.
awesome, thanks chmee!
your tool has been by far my favorite.
i'll be sure to donate to your cause!
btw, would it be possible to import the same cdng footage back into raw2cdng and compress it down even more?

ah, right.  ADC.
always have answer for everything,
thanks gents! ;D

edit:
after compressing clips in ADC, the footages doesn't seem to open up in Resolve. :/
oh well.
#3
as the title states,
is there a tool to convert umcompressed cndg to compressed (lossy) cdng?
im working on a short and HDD is filling faster than i anticipated and i erased the original .raw files.
thanks.

* optional reducing of blacklevel by 90%
* framerate fixed
* UniqueModelID now changeable
* multithreaded
* speedgradeCC-look inside
* readme inside

regards chmee

oh, i've read not all macbooks can run resolve.
i think you're in that group.
quite upsetting if i were in your shoes.
#6
you're on mac correct?
do you have a gpu and intergrated gpu by any chance?
#7
just a heads up, DaVinci Resolve 10 is now available (non-beta)
so it looks like you can export above 1080p now.

yeah, the new After Effects CC update (v12.1) has a new effect called  "Details Preserving Upscale"
it does a better job than manually scaling your footage.

When I export an finish FX Video with CDNG it export in a kind of fast motion. what did I do wrong?
after effects is interpreting your footage at 30fps.
try EDIT tab>>>preference>>>import

under sequence footage, change frames per second to what you recorded on your camera.
also check your composition fps settings as well as export fps settings.

:D nevermind, decided to jump on the cc-train. so will check that. please be patient 8)
awesome.
this is what you call dedication.

i can confirm once you replace proxies on your project settings in premiere with the dng sequence, you can export an EDL to resolve.
#12
getting pink cast as well.
near realtime playback to boot.
anyway to generate proxies after its loaded into premiere?
or vice versa?
replace proxies with dng sequences?

edit:
nevermind, figured it out.
if you right click on the clip in the project window and choose "replace footage". a pop up window will appear and go to the dng sequence folder of your choosing and pick the very first frame.
it will replace proxies or vice versa. i wonder if there's a batch switch, im thinking exporting to AE is much quicker.
#13
try this.
load the dng sequence into your project window.
right click on the clip in the project window>>>>interpret footage>>>main>>>more options
ACR should open up

Edit>Template> both of the output module and Render settings.  you can SAVE ALL... or LOAD just save em after you create it.. and send those if possible.

i am really interested in the following:

what if i want to grade in resolve 10 lite and i want to denoise with neat video in after effects..? cause the resolve lite version has no denoiser..

resolve lite has  a chroma denoiser, where resolve can separate luma and chroma channels.
you just blur the chroma channel and what you have left is noise from the luma which is very similar to film grain noise.
if that's what you're after here's the tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=degEMVPLPdU

the guy in the video has the full version but to blur the chroma channel, just go to the blur/sharpen panel and raise the RGB radius value somewhere around .50-1.12. the sweet spot is around 80ish.

i cant get resolve on my macbook 2011 13" i5... something about a GUI error or something.. LITE dont work.  tried all the new stuff.

only thing i can do is   .raw to After effects on my new shoots..  but these clips i have i wanted to re export them cause right now they are one long B-Roll clip ... but i want individual clips..

thanks for the help i am uploading my file squence (150 clips) to drop box maybe someone has the same issue using the whole sequence. cause i dont see the raw sequence setting
i suggest going to the mac centric threads (like the rawmagic thread) and asking there why you cant install resolve on your mac.
#18
You can always resave the dng sequence as tiff. See if that works.
Also, Try going the resolve route. See if it plays back properly.
#19
that's odd, i've never encountered that before.
try changing the colorspace to 16bit or 32bit float
if you dont know, once your clip is loaded into after effects, click and drag the clip to the "8bpc" below.
project settings will show up and there you can change the color space from 8bit to 16 or 32bit
doubt that will do the trick but worth the try

how do i get ACR? i downloaded the 8.1 update form Adobe for Camera raw and DNG converter i believe? or something like that.

anyways i am running AE CS6 i dont have the .raw files anymore cause i had previously exported through FCPx to one long clip.

but i wanna see if i can get a better quality through AE using the workflow of importing the first sequence and using Ginger HDR

so i have all the files of DNG i can upload maybe someone can see if theirs pics it up?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ce2fm6yfsxgi1wv/M03-0218_C0000_00000.dng

in after effects, file>import>file
go to the folder where the dng sequence is located. then select the very first dng. make sure "camera raw sequence" is ticked on.
click on open and ACR will pop up before it shows up in after effects.

it will look like this.
what you're seeing is everything set to default except for the white balance set to "auto"

well i took the .raw file and used RAWmagic the other day.

all the .dng files it pulls up are really really dark and i cant even add any exposure or nothing. but it shows regular in my file explorer. no issues. only when i import it into After Effects.
in ACR, try using a different processing year (2012, 2010, 2003)

Could you test the hdmi crop mark fix?
hdmi_raw_rec.zip

using the same oct.4 build with the same settings as the shoot.
the top image is what happens when i plug in the hdmi to the camera.
a couple of seconds later, its the second image below,
and a couple seconds after its the bottom image.
the crop marks are correct after a few seconds but not initially.
screen layout is set to 4:3display, auto
force hdmi-vga: on
global draw off
resolution: 1880x800
the results are the same whether i connect the hdmi cable to camera and the camera being on or off.
during the shoot, i only got correct crop marks if i connected the hdmi cable before i turn on the camera.
so it looks like it works but it needs a few seconds to correct itself.
thank you!

whatever field recorder you're using, get a mixer/preamp.
can't speak for the h6, but the h4n preamp is garbage.
i always used a preamp/mixer in combination with the h4n, mainly a juicedlink
the signal to noise ratio was was fantastic, even for a cheap lav mic.
in most cases, i didn't have to denoise the audio, just sweetening the sound in post.

With my Zacuto EVF I enable the 2.35 frameline directly from the EVF. For the external 7" monitor I just taped up it.
For the HDMI lock, I use the SmallHD one, it works properly.

For the dead pixels, have you try to set the Adobe Camera Raw to 2003, instead of 2010? You find it in one of the last menu pages of CR. I noticed that swapping it will eliminate all the dead/white pixels(if you mean this issue). Don't know why... Let me know!
just imported the dng sequences to ACR and switched to 2003 and i can confirm the hot/dead pixels are gone!
i still get white pixels but only in black areas.
thanks bro!
i did the manually clean the sensor trick and i dont have any dead pixel issues anymore as well.
