I'm looking for a couple of startup logs, using this build:

http://builds.magiclantern.fm/jenkins/view/Experiments/job/startup-log/

These will log all Canon messages from the first 30 seconds, then save a log file. During this log, I need you to capture the following actions (not all at once, but divided over a couple of logs):

- menu navigation (just browse around)
- play mode navigation (view a picture, zoom in, toggle histograms etc)
- card format and restoring ML
- changing various Canon settings
- LiveView (for future use)
- autofocus (same)

Why? I'm getting really close to emulating the 5D2 in QEMU (it boots almost all the way until the GUI, and CF emulation works - see the DCIM test), but I'm missing something. These logs may help figuring it out.

(50D already works, with Canon menu navigation, card formatting and so on; figured it out from this log)

I can do it first thing in the weekend. Currently about to move so all equipment is packed down.

How can people with 5D2 help?

Share the video when ready or some snaps of your journey while we wait :)

You can also grab the Zoom H5 Portable Recorder now for $229.99 (MSRP $337).

And yes, this one is also much better than the Beachtek ;)

3 days left on the TASCAM DR-60D mkII DSLR Audio Recorder and 9 days left on the Zoom H5.
#5
They don't compare, the Beachtek doesn't even have XLR/Phantom inputs, has much worse S/N rating etc.
#6
If anyone is looking to improve their audio solution with their DSLR, the TASCAM DR-60D mkII is on Massdrop right now for $164.99 (MSRP $249.99).

Might be interesting for some of you :)

@chmee

Incidentally, it does exactly 7680 x 4360 at 16:9.

Aspect Ratio: 16:9

  • Large: Approx. 42.5 Megapixels (8688 x 4888)
    Medium 1: Approx. 33.2 Megapixels (7680 x 4320)
    Medium 2: Approx. 18.7 Megapixels (5760 x 3240)
    S1 (Small 1): Approx. 10.5 Megapixels (4320 x 2432)
    S2 (Small 2): Approx. 2.1 Megapixels (1920 x 1080)
    S3 (Small 3): Approx. 0.28 Megapixels (720 x 408)

If ML is possible on the camera, the USB3 connection suddenly gets interesting. Hopefully it isn't hampered like the SD card speed of the 5D Mark III.

Could make for some nice clean 1080p and 2160p. I am still scratching my head over the lack of clean HDMI output ... and 4K.

If you want something self-contained and smaller, check out the FiiO E06 portable headphone amplifier.

Shame I don't have 2300+ laying around right now.

They should have run the campaign over 2 months instead of one.

UH those fps possible with axiom beta? HMMMMMM nice :D

They are talking about the sensor itself. The Axiom Beta is limited by its hardware and HDMI output.

Very informative!

Hope the project gets off the ground because ML have really shown why an Open Source environment would be great for the users.

I noticed that as soon as it broke the 4GB barrier it went from 4-12ms idle to 361+ ms idle. Something we should check into?

I saw write speeds up to 79,3MB/s (which is the fastest I've seen from this KomputerBay 1000x 32GB card).

It doesn't seem like I can make the Buffer Graphs with the RAW_REC module, is that correct?

Sorry for the large post.

Check the way I formatted your post :) //Audionut

Any easy way I can attach the buffer graphs I've made?
#15
Well, if you want some specific tests, I'll gladly do them before committing.

Can anyone make a build with Pull Request #589 for the 5D Mark II, so we can test if it is faster on DIGIC4?
#21
Anyone want to make a version for the 5D Mark II for me to test out?

Why would you upscale 1080p to 2160p?
#23
Which spurs the question, what card reader do you have for the CompactFlash cards?
#24
Check your screens gamma value. Should be 2.2.

If you don't have the cash right now, then why not wait and see what new cameras come between now and then?
