Congrats on the new camera. You'll like the 70D. When you get more money saved, I suggest the Sigma 18-35  f1.8 lens as it is great on the 70D.

Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. I went out early this morning and took a few shots. I just picked up a Canon 17-85mm lens, so I wanted to try it out. Its not a particularly fast lens but I think they tuned out not too bad. I set my shutter to 20 seconds and was at 17mm. The iso was at 800 and 1600

Hi All

I'm looking for some settings help for shooting the stars. I am pretty new to photography and could use some input. I plan on doing a time lapse and have played with the intervolometer, so I'm comfortable with that. Also lens choice. I have a 18-55mm and a nifty 50. My thought is to use the 18-55 but maybe I'm wrong.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking forward to seeing some video from the 70d. Time will tell, if this is going to be a good crop sensor camera.

Raw Video / Re: 550D Bad Video Quality?

I agree with what the other person is telling you. You should be able to get decent video with the 50mm 1.8

I shot the following with the same camera as you, using the standard 18-55 mm kit lens. This was shot using the raw video ML that can be found on this forum. It was shot at 1200x496 @ 23.976 FPS.

Sam

You need to take the s off of https to get the link to work properly.

Rewind I tried your latest ML and it seems to work great. Here is a video I put together shot at 1200x496 @ 23.976

I figured it out.

Not sure why I'm having an issue with posting the video. I followed the directions posted in the forum. Maybe someone can explain exactly what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks

I have been working on putting a video together of where I live. The goal is to get better at shooting and post workflow. I know there is a lot better examples out there, made by others but I'm fairly happy with this effort.

I use lightroom as well to import dng files then color grade. Once you have them imported, you can adjust white balance, crop ratio, temperature, tint, exposure, clarity, and vibrance. When completed, export as a Tiff or JPEG. Once I have that done I import all the files into Premier. When I get them into Premier the first thing I do is set the speed/duration, so the resulting video will have proper motion and move them into the timeline. Once that is done, I render the clip and save it on my hard drive. I repeat this until all my dngs have been processed. Then I import all the rendered clips into Premier to edit.

I went out this morning and shot some raw footage. I've spent the last couple of weeks learning Premier and Lightroom enough to output this clip. I have a long way to go as far as shooting and post editing but I'm pretty happy with this result. I hope you enjoy it.

I'm excited that I finally figured out the workflow and programs to get a raw video clip. Here it is

I know its nothing special but it feels pretty good to actually get something done...lol

Hoping to get a little help from you Adobe Premier users. I am trying to figure out the speed/duration of tiffs brought into Premier. I shot the raw files at 23.976 FPS and I have 472 tiffs. I have divided FPS into 472 and get 19.69. I tried setting speed/duration to 20 but resulting video looks wrong.
Can someone assist?

I'm running into an issue with raw2dng. It seems to work fine on a raw file 61 meg in size but when my raw file id 528 meg it does not work. Has anyone else experienced this??
#20
Ok Guys

I've shot some raw footage at 1152x656 @ 29.97. I have used raw2dng to get the dng files. I imported those files tp After Effects, made some minor changes, then saved as a premier pro project file.

Then I opened Premier, imported the project, then rendered the file out. When I look at the resulting video it just looks like a still and not video.

What am I missing here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can I get a link to you bin file MK11174 please.
#22
So I'm feeling a little stupid here. I'm trying to understand this whole process.
1. Get another sdhc card (sandisk extream 16 gig).
2. Copy .bin developed by MK11174 (thank you) onto memory card.
3. Copy modues by MK11174 (thank you again) into folder within .bin???
4. Shoot RAW footage
Workflow
1. Copy raw files from memory card onto hard drive (what raw file format is this)?
2. import RAW footage into RAWanizer and export as MP4??
3. Use Lightroom to color grade?
4. I use Power Director, so would edit with this.
I'm probably not right about this, so if someone can straighten me out.
#23
So how big are the raw files you guys are shooting??
