I'm not sure if i'm missing something very obvious but which build is the MLV build? I'm currently running the ml_britom_30_aug build.
Is the MLV the nick_g3ggo build? Thanks.

Maybe I'm just the last one to notice this, but it seems like false color overlays continue to work during raw recording. I've just been switching to the "small hd" mode, which allows me to track and focus reasonably well. Of course the downside is that you only get monochrome on screen, but that seems like a small price to me for raw video...

If this is common knowledge, then sorry for sounding redundant. I'm figuring there are at least a few people out there who aren't aware of this

This is seriously amazing. I had never tried the small hd setting in false colour and it works very very well! 1000x better than having to guess with a frozen live-view, thank you!  ;D

Quick little test at 1600x600 continuous. I was using a sandisk 60mb/s however I have just received a 1000x card in preperation  ;D

The full res render in after effects looks insanely sharp, I had to compress the size down for vimeo but it still looks so much better than anything we had before!

Just to clarify, setting the raw/jpeg quality to s2 and filming in raw, still means a raw stream right? Even though the camera thinks it's in jpeg s2? Been doing some tests today with some good continuous shots and they are blowing me away. Cannot wait for live view to be sorted out. I wish I knew how to help!

The first bitrate monster .FIR shoots All-I already. You just need to set the CBR/VBR to a high number. The second one is not All-I. Both do not have options to manually set this.

In the Alpha 2, in the screen where you set your CBR/VBR, there's an option for video hacks. Switch it to ON and you can then set the Flush and GOP (I forgot what it's called on that screen but it's the one immediately after Flush). Set the GOP to 1 and you're shooting All-I. (GOP stands for Group of Picture)

Good luck! :D

I feel like such a fool. I wasn't pressing the Q button on the menu to bring up the sub menu! I knew I was missing something obvious. I've been going all of these months with only half of the settings ML shows! What a fool I am. Thank you so much Feureau. Fantastic help  ;D

Look up a thread in this forum about details in All-I vs IPB shooting. (It's a huge thread, and a long debate. You won't miss it)

But I found the most detail I can get is by shooting All-I. Turn on video hacks, flush at your video framerate if you shoot with audio (you might need to lower your bitrate, naturally) and set the frames at 1. I can get about 350-400mbit/s with CBR at 20 with my 60MB/s sandisk.

You can't set the flush at 60 if you're shooting 60fps btw. It's set that way by the devs and no one would comment as to why.

Thank you so much for your help. I must be missing something huge though. I cannot find anywhere in ML to enable video hacks or shooting in ALL-I? I'm running alpha 2- 2.0.3. I just tried using the bitrate monster build to see if it was on there but it's not either. Any ideas? I seriously think i'm missing something very obvious but I just can't find it! Thank you

Just a question about getting the highest possible detail with the current alpha 2 release. Do I max the bit rate (CBR) to the highest number possible without the video stopping? I can manage to get 2X CBR on my sandisk 60/mbs, and is there any other settings that I can enable to possibly pull out any more detail? Thanks!

If you guys need any simple testing I'm here to help! I have no idea how to code but the least I can do is offer some testing and try to help that way. Thanks guys you're doing a sweet job!

well, yes. there will be a next alpha in the near future.
but there is no date yet, as it is done as spare time job and depending on workload in main job and in family,
i have some more or less time for it.

You are doing such an amazing job, and I'm sure there are many others watching this thread that aren't members, but are wanting to say thanks!

Can't wait for the new features!

I was recording a few nights back for a club, it was extremely hot and moist as expected, yuck. But I was recording for around 1 and a half / 2 hours until my 7D just went black with half of the battery still remaining. I sat down trying to work out what had gone wrong, took the battery out a few times doing tests, no red light or battery low screen. I then put a backup battery into the camera and it booted up like normal, switched back to the other battery and the camera wouldn't start again. Only when I got home later did the battery start working again, still with half a charge?

Almost as if the battery overheated or something even though that's impossible with no sensors. Strange.
