Camera-specific Development / Re: Canon 60D
January 30, 2018, 08:46:43 PM
I was able to update my 60D with the ML firmware, I'm having 2 issues and I was hoping you guys might have some ideas.

1. When I am focusing to shoot video, there is plenty of light as it adjusts, but as it locks in focus, it becomes very dim.  It's odd.  I feel like there is some setting that is off - it was doing this before I downloaded ML, I was hoping this might affect or resolve.  Only for video.

2. When I start to record, it only lasts a few seconds, sometimes a little longer, and then stops recording automatically.  Empty card, plenty of storage, I cannot figure it out.  Again happened before ML install.

I am hoping there is some setting or something I have accidentally adjusted wrong.  Any tips or advice on how to troubleshoot is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Running 2.3 / 1.1.1 on 60D

I'm just now reading through all the documentation and experimenting with the video for my youth sports teams.  Here are a few things that are bothering me and I can't seem to find help.  I really want to learn and work with this as I've always enjoyed editing video for work and hobby but am just now getting started with shooting video.  Thank you in advance for your time, I sincerely appreciate it.

1)  The amount of time it takes to focus (get a green box) on the video.  Takes a few seconds and I wanted to ask if there is any settings that can be adjusted to be able to focus quicker.

2)  Once recording has started, I can't seem to focus any longer.  As an example, if I focus on a player far away from me, once they run towards me, it gets out of focus and I can't seem to adjust to keep it in focus the whole time.  I feel like I am missing something obvious.

Lastly, I get the dreaded "movie has stopped recording" message with solid LED light, which is awful as it always comes when I need it.  I take out the battery and then experience the same thing a few times in a row before it stops doing that.  I read about the bitrate and need for a fast card - I've got a Lexar Pro SDXC 64GB (133x speed) card and thought that would work.  Is there anything there I can do?

I started to try and uninstall and was going to reinstall and when I went to "format" on menu, it doesn't give me the option to remove magic lantern.  When I do that, it only says "format card but keep magic lantern".

Hello, I read through everything on the installation and the FAQs - I have a 60D and borrowed a 16GB to successfully install ML 2.3 on the 60D.  I'm confused now, as I read you only need the 32GB or smaller for the first install but I don't see how to move forward and now use ML with my Lexar Pro 64GB SDXC card. I tried the EOScard and MacBoot but none of those seem to work with a 64 card either?

Anyway, could someone please confirm that I am able to use my 64XC card with ML and if so, what exact steps I need to take in order to do so.  When the 16 card is in, I see the correct ML firmware but if I switch to the 64 it just shows standard 1.1.1.  Thank you in advance for your assistance!
