Camera-specific discussion / Re: Canon 5DS / 5DS R

So this key is hidden within the camera's memory? Anyone who has a dump can find it?

Why is the key not made public then?

Is it different for each model?

This is a new magic lantern fact for me.

@a1ex if you could, could you please help me out with getting a 5Ds firmware dumper/bootflag enabler for firmware version 1.1.3

Normally I don't do full quotes...

Sorry for rocking the boat but as a moderator you are responsible for users to comply with forum rules and "ML work ethics". I'm worried because IMO you don't understand some basic rules. One of them (as explained in forum rules) is never to post Canon's IP in public. This applies to ROM dumps, for example. Encryption keys ... Well, I think you get the idea now.
IMO you should ask some seasoned mod or dev for a serious primer.

Nice and easy, thanks a lot. I thought I needed to use Canon's built-in 3x zoom.

If your cam has an "Movie Crop Mode" entry in Movie tab you can use this option, too.H

And, once again, what is exactly limiting the RAW recording to 1832*1024 at 1x? Just for my understanding.

Like most ML supported cams 70D uses "line skipping" in H.264 and uncropped RAW/MLV recording where only every third sensor line is processed. Lookup terms "native resolution", "line skipping".

I think it would be easier to compile a list and read info from there.
And pixel pitch (with some margin) isn't that difficult to compute: Sensor dimension/resolution. KISS.

But I'm afraid ATM there is only CPS able to downgrade ”hardened" PTP fix.

Does anybody has this issue with eosm and lexar or other cards? Thanks for answers!

There are not that much solid informations and/or serious reviews about this card available on the net (and definitely not here). My most trusted source is for this matter. They run cards in various cardreaders and in some cams.
Your card is an UHS-II card running in UHS-I compatibility mode when inserted in EOS M. There were issues with early UHS-II cards in compatibility mode (slow speed) but this should be history (only guessing, of course).
And there was a single card type once giving good results with cardreaders and most cams but had serious speed issues with some Canon cams only.

If you have a decent cardreader without UHS-II interface (Kingston FCR-HS3 for example) you may have some benchmark runs with CrystalDiskMark (Windows) or Blackmagic Disk Speed Test (macOS).
And run benchmark in cam
1. Modules tab. Activate
2. Restart cam
3. Access Debug tab -> Benchmarks -> Card Benchmarks -> Quick R/W benchmark (1 min)

Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s is considered to be "gold standard" by ML users. Never heard any complaints (apart from faked cards). Newer 170 MB/s variety seems to be a safe card, too.

Press loupe/magnify button to access "crop mode" for higher resolutions.

Doing some sort of search before asking would be fine ...
In is described what he did:
He used Magic Lantern techniques to run arbitrary code unattended.
So you are asking: Can Magic Lantern use a method derived from Magic Lantern to run Magic Lantern?

This thingy adds work to development not reducing it.

Actually there is a "fishy" build for M50. So code execution isn't the problem. Dev time is. ATM nobody is working on it.

I think "overlays" is what you mean by "displays". In ML lingo "display" might refer to LCD or liveview screens.

Display tab -> Powersave in Liveview -> Turn off LCD

Looks like a site problem...

I have to confess I'm running something by some guys located in Redmond. X-rated, sort of.
And for some real good reasons I cannot remember for life I'm running FF ESR and we have to wait until 2020/09/22 for FF ESR 78.3.

I would go back to the oldest version supporting firmware 1.0.9.
Use default settings, do not set Rec Key for trials.

Well, OS not specified. Therefore gphoto2 on Linux has what OP asked for. OP is most likely using Windows 10, though

Sorry, can't help here.
Dev g3gg0 once offered help for another such project suggesting LED for sync.

Sorry, obviously missed that part of information!

First check if remote does work without ML. Press SET during power on and ML won't start.

Second: You can check if older versions will do and this feature was lost by some code update. Happens, ML and regression testing ... not the best ...
Just rename ML directory and Autoexec.bin and copy files over. ML-Setup.fir doesn't matter that much.

ATM there are 10369 km distance to my 650D at home.
I have some SD-cards with me and will lookup if there is a backup directory with ROM files, though.

Remove remote from cam. Does half-shutter work (=start/stop recording) in movie mode now?

Well, a1ex (main dev) recovered some cams with and without ML installed. AFAIK recovery is quite a lot easier if the cam has been enabled for ML.
But timing is not the best, he has taken some sort of sabbatical.

I don’t see a 30 minute timer disabled...

May I quote myself?
You have to use experimental lua_fix build.

Movie tab -> Rec key

Most Canon cams got mandatory AGC removed by Firmware updates some time ago. You‘re sure 550D is not among them?

Is/was ML running on this cam?
