I use MLV with sound (v113) or without for more then 2 years now and have continues filming at up to 2560x1072 (2.39;1) 24.00 fps without ever one bad frame.  When sound is on — there are two or three black frames at the end. Without sound it's all clear and neat. Thanks to all who're developing this 'magic' for us. Quality of raw video is striking!

Nice finding about the tape!
I tried many WB cards with no success and then accidentally found a great solution that is working 90% for me.  For those who use iPhone (they might have the app for other platforms) go to iTune store and find 'Manual Cam' app.  I'm not sure if paid something, but it's very chip.  Go to settings and set 'ui mode' to 'pro'.  When turn on Manual Cam again you will see WB in Kelvin among other settings. Point to the scene you want to shoot with your Canon and make a screen shot.  Now you have a pretty accurate WB for your post.  In rare occasions it screws up — just restart the app.  Greatest benefit is that one can see at a spot if the WB is correct by comparing what's on iPhone and what's real.

Hi U-Type,

Thanks for the share.  In the future, please consider sharing your video in the appropriate section.

This way, this thread remains focused on development.

Thanks.
The guy is still over excited seeing raw vid recorded on 5d3... Yes it is beyond comparison.

Could I ask what settings you are using to record 5x zoom 2560x1072 , ie-aspect ratio , fps , fps override ? and what type of card and its specs as the best I can get so far on my Komuterbay 64gb 1000x at 5xzoom is 2240x938 continuous record at 25 fps in plain old raw.

Sure,  all extra Canon settings are OFF, as advised by ML 'best settings for raw recording'.
Highlights are ON, Global Draw all ON, Preview Hacked, Memory Hacks ON, Ratio - 2.39:1, 2560x1072, 24.000fps - maximum that I am able to film practically. Bigger then that resolutions gives just a few secs, which is not suitable for me.  2240x938 goes smooth continuously, but 2560x1072 gives more coverage on sensor with 45-60 seconds of filming, depends on sensor temperature, which is more then enough for normal shooting.  I use TRANSCEND 1000x, 128GB.

ML v123 working great. Installation - piece of cake,  THANKS A LOT!
x3 (2560x1072) is up to 60sec (more then enough for one shoot), comparing to v113 - about 30sec at most.
I'm not sure if it is bug or not. I think everyone has it:
when in x3 mode, second frame is pink (no image) and the tenth frame is a couple stops overexposed (in v113 the seventh frame was overexposed in x3). Thus ten frames in 2560x1072 are not usable. As for the rest - v123 is much more stable then v113 TO ME.
Great stuff.  Feels like there is no limits there for ML team.

Just to inform you that you can't revert to 1.1.3 according to the following Canon note:

Notes:
- Once the EOS 5D Mark III camera is updated to Version 1.2.0 (or later), it cannot be restored to a previous firmware Version (Version 1.0.7 through 1.1.3).

Not true.  Using Canon utility one can set up any version back and forth

Duplicate Questions / Re: latest builds for 5D3?
December 07, 2013, 01:52:02 AM
... thanks a lot!
You boys did'n open a new world for me.  I tried 'nightly builds' many times exactly the same way as described in the guide before and every time I was getting massage 'files are missing' and the thing didn't want to work at all.  Now, thanks to your deep patience and 'magical' blessing, things went on  pleasantly different.
Patience, participation and a bit of sarcasm can do miracle for those in darkness.
Appreciate it a lot!

Duplicate Questions / latest builds for 5D3?
December 06, 2013, 03:23:08 AM
It looks like after August 21 there were no new builds with RAW support for the best camera in the world.
Anybody?
Latest builds?

Obvious idea for me is to make YUV "recording" size while idling (would help silent pics too). But I haven't been able to figure out how it resizes. Maybe do what it does when it starts recording. I've tried skipping SD resize when it starts but it seems camera can't handle encoding + out through HDMI with 1 digic IV.  I think HDMI resizes whatever is in YUV buffer to 1920 or whatever.
I might sound naive, so forgive me for that since I am trying to distract you with (who knows) fresh idea. What if you guys combine your efforts with Thomas Worth and his 5DtoRGB. He's 'un-compressing' .MOV into AppleProRes 4444. May be there is a way to do the same process while recording by replacing Canon's compression...

uncompressed 422 clips on the 5d3! 30 seconds of that would be awsome never mind 30mins. even if the 1080 quality was as sharp and easy to grade as its s2 jpeg that would be a hudge improvement! Im so pumped for the 5d3 ml! this is great! waaahhhhh hoooooo!
Hey guys, I was just today thinking about going on ML and ask someone if 422 is possible, and here we are.  More then I could expect...
.. it is soooo great!!!
