Feature Requests / Re: 2:35 movie format

It would not be like having a real Anamorphic Lens on your Cam, it's the same as cropping in post (only that you lose vertical information with which you could better stabilize or rearrange the image).

As said, chainging the line-skipping process might never be possible, and even if you skip less lines, the Quality can not improve.
It's simply less lines because less image, within the scanned area it's the same process unless you want some heavy distortion

Hi Dirk,

damit die nicht denken, dass wir hier Blödsinn machen, antworte ich mal auf englisch :)

Yep, sadly there are people who live in such situations. Anyway, I think many of those are lonely because they "want" to, this is what I wanted to say: it's always a bit your fault, don't expect that everything change's when you do nothing about it/when you meet a special someone (stated to the guys who think if they find/get THAT girl everything might change; it doesn't). Of course only my opinion - no one makes these movies without a personal experience with this :)

And no, I don't really like the TV-Tower. It's so big and white, it always distracts the view. And never fits in properly. And ... I don't know, I don't like it (my Girlfriend loves it! she doesn't understand my opinion here :D)

Thanks for the kind words, I'll let the camera-guys know :)

A f/2.8 Zoom is a good base for many applications.
My flatmate owns the 17-50mm f/2.8 from Tamron (non-stabilized) and I like it, a good friend of mine swears by the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 (Stabilized Version), stating it is very sharp and a good Lens. The Canon-one is a bit too expansive for my taste. Anyway, each of them is an improvement to the Kit (even a Lens made of plastic by my 10yr old nephew is an improvement to the Kit)
For myself, I'm more of a friend of using primes, but I understand that speed while working is much for some.

Of course you are not able to use it on a Fullformat later, but "that's live" - you could head for the 24-70mm f/2.8 L, but it's more expensive and lacks in wide-angle.
If you head for Primes/Tokina, you might spend a lot more Money (even if this is my preferred route). I own the Tokina, great Lens, but only usable at 16mm on the Fullformat afterwards. The Rokinon/Samyang/Walimex/Bowers (so many Brands...) 35mm f/1.4 is a very good Lens for decent price (MF only) that would fit in that set. Also, two stops faster then these Zooms. Or a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 if you need AF (then again, no Fullformat).

raw video like now why not?
It is not raw, and it is no HDR.
It may be an uncompressed 422 8bit stream, yet nothing too exciting (many tests of these outputs done with other Cams in the past showed one thing: it's not really worth it)

I smell a possible delicious future for the 650D when Magic Lantern hits the spot, for example imagine HDR-Video ported thru the (hopefully by then fully working) clean hdmi out to a atomos ninja in ProRes :) that would be a cool feature for a low budget camera to possess :D
The Output from the HDMI will still be only 8bits, so no HDR in sight.

Many may know that short already, still I want to share in this nice new portal.
Last year's spring I decided to make a third part of my short-film series "sad lonely lucas", improving from a film made by one person to a little film with a crew and also additional actors. Goal was to take the little 550D/T2i out in the night, putting it to the extreme.

ML was a great help getting correct focus with the peaking, also framing it right for a cinemascope-crop. Another essential feature were Histogram and Zebra. I wish FPS-Override where available that time :)

Lens-wise, I used of course as fast lenses as I could possibly get, still we shot much on my Tokina wideangle-zoom with an aperture of only f/2.8.

Enjoy.

Did you used such a horrible Adapter with a Lens or "macro only"?

I think the 1000D/1100D would indeed be good to go, as these are affordable for the new blood :) of course no fancy "we provide anything for the über-professionals", still it's great when young and "poor" people have something useful to work with somehow.

Personally, I'm not interested in any of the new Canon Cameras, I'd like to see a teaming with the GH2... :)

Maybe it would also be a nice idea to add it into the Profile, like the ICQ# or the Location, displayed under the Avater next to every post?
