Currently I'm using a7s with atomos shogun and this aint easy too (sony npf970 battery weights alot). But much more clumsy because of cables and short life of batteries from sony. Tell me, what's better then? :)

Why the hell does it have cropped (1.3x) image when shooting 4K. :(
This could really be perfect allrounder photo/video camera.

5Dmk3 doesn't output 4K through HDMI. I have it and Atomos Shogun too, it doesn't work. I bought sony a7s for that purpose.

Solved the problem.... the Magic Lantern Raw Converter had some settings ON that fucked the pixels. So I turned Chorma smoothing and ACR Profile off and it works now.ttttttt

5DMK3 raw (latest ML update) on 1.1.3 firmware has one biggest bug I've ever noticed....

But it wasn't on all shot's with direct sunlight. Some came out fine. I suppose it's not the problem in direct light, because I already reported bug on twitter with no response;

Can anyone explain this annoying bug? And how to fix this in post? How to avoid in future?

Hi,

I have noticed one major problem with RAW recording (even on newest update for 1.1.3 firmware with MLV recording), which was noticable even in older ML updates. It's about flickering when some sudden changes in composition happens. I'm not having auto exposure on, it's everything on manual, there was no zooming, because it's a fixed aperture lens and there was no special grading been done in post-production.

This is a best example of footage I've took with magic zoom 3x  up in the sky;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2bQOTPTjto

I've noticed such changes in aperture in the past, but were not so severe as in this example. This video is actually useless because of flickering. And it's not even constant, it changes randomly.

Is there any explanation to this bug?

Regards

Why doesn't this file manager program have mass export mlv's in to separate folders? It's kinda wrong if it exports all dng's in to one location  :-\

Hi,

I'm using magiclantern-Nightly.2014Apr20.5D3113 and the old RAW mode for video (it always worked OK), but today it fucked up most of my clips, that were all green...

how can I fix this clips :(

raw dng
https://gofile.me/2doWQ/5FSenQkR

I even tested the newest May 8th nightly release and I still get green .dng's. Then I turned off the memory hack (I have it for slower komputerbay) and no more green .dng's. I guess the memory hack is fucked up :\
I still need to save my files done till now... how can I get fixed .dngs out of RAW files :( I tried with preview mlv_view_sharp.exe, but are green too :(

I solved with ML settings somehow on 1.1.3 firmware. Now the white info are around the image in black zone.
#10
how is progressing 1.2.3 version of ML? Is it any close to what is on 1.1.3 ? And if anyone has any experience with eye-fi wifi card?
#11
Any luck on 5D Mark III 1.1.3 and Eye-fi ? I can't get it to work. Camera freezes if I insert Eye-fi from sandisk.
#12
Is there any update on this matter? It would be great to use eye-fi and ML together on 1.1.3 firmwire.  :-\

EDIT: i didn't notice, this is for mk2, I'm searching for info about mk3

Raw Video / Re: How to review RAW footage?
September 18, 2013, 06:30:22 PM
buying Atomos ninja to record useless footage with overlay information is absurd. Until ML is updated to newer version of firmware, buying Atomos is out of the posibilities.

What about recording h264 on secondary SD card. I still don't get it, why there isn't a function to make double recording (RAW doesn't use any processor, and SD card is unused by any writing to it). You can then check what you recorded through h264 videos.

I have a little problem with RAW recording on 5D Mark III; while I'm used to work in a very fast environment, the default recording on 5dmk3/550D is really quick when starting/stopping recording. Than again, when I work with RAW, the starting time is way to slower, and when I stop the recording, I have to wait to make another start. Like said, I do a lot of clips in production for really quick post-production process. Is there any chance to optimize the code to make it faster to start/stop the recording?

Thank you for your hard work!

Raw Video / Re: ML RAW + Atomos Ninja 5D3

I'm still curious why ML isn't based on the newer version of 5dmk3 firmwire? Did they block ML somehow in newer version? It would be great to get clean HDMI out while doing RAW shooting. Backup footage if anything goes wrong.

I have problem with extracting bigger than 4 GB raw files... it doesn't make any dngs o_0 I don't know what to set, to make it work.
#17
I did the same as you said twice... no luck :\  Unless the official 2.0.3 firmware is somehow blocking ML?
#18
I tried this procedure, but after applying new firmware, nothing happends. It just throws back to ordinary live view and trash bin doesnt summon up ML menu :\ Everything works OK, it just didn't do anything.
#19
Oh, I understand.
#20
How do you get 3x zoom... when I push the zoom button I get 5x or 10x. o_0

DarienX, that would be great! (aren't the models payed for their acting/posing, even they have to same things over and over again?)

Raw Video / Re: RAW and h.264 only for synced audio
July 11, 2013, 11:16:38 PM
In theory it could be possible to make RAW and h264 at the same time. I did try this in earliest versions, but it hanged after few seconds because it couldn't write to card that fast. If there would be a option to write to both cards (h264 on SD card (on 5dmk3)), than I would believe it would be possible. RAW recording doesn't need any processor power, while h264 video does. But, it's only theory.

yes, lovely lady, but soooooo much noise in the background that my eyes hurt.

EOS 70D is out, it has a double CMOS sensor and I just thought, maybe that it can be used as HDR RAW recording two tracks at the same time  ;D I just hope it's system is not completely changed.

On which build of ML was this shoot?
