I enabled more features of ML and 60D boots without issues. Please let me now if it works on your cameras.

Is this file loaded onto a blank card?

Seeing as the 60D's SD controller limits at 21mbs throughput speed do you think the 64gb SDXC Class 10 (45mbs) would be the card to get?

Going by the numbers so far with the 600D, we can look forward to getting at least these crops at 24/25 fps

- 1280 X 400
- 720 X 720
- 960 X 540

in raw. :)

Is this a fair assumption?

Love wave.

Waveform?

Found out yesterday how to check exposure using a 18% gray card viewed in waveform.

General Help Q&A / ML - What do you like and use?
January 03, 2013, 12:54:18 PM
These are the features I find useful at present.

1) Audio metering (I haven't needed to record any audio yet but it seems to work well)
2) Zebras (I find useful for under/over exposure)
3) Waveform (just learning about this)
4) Peak focussing (I like it but its a bit faint)
5) ISO (I need a shortcut)
6) Graphic Overlays.

I'm sure some of you guys/girls are using a lot more ML tools than I am.

What do you like & use?

Any 60D users here tried my previous instructions?

It seems I can have at least 3 features overlay in the one DISP profile.

0 = clear
1 = zebras
2 = focus peak, histogram (wish it was bigger), waveform (which I don't understand yet).

I have a SwiviVF but even the bare screen is now useful for shooting.

Feature Requests / Larger Histogram

Same sizes as Waveform, small, large & full screen
(or ideally top half screen Histogram - Bottom half screen Waveform etc)

I just read a post on DSLR film noob about diskdigger.org they have a software program that can rescue files.
Its free to try out and only a small fee to keep. who knows might work for you.

This is how I programed the shortcuts on the 60D. IN MOVIE MODE

First of all, I find it more useful to have the ML menu on the right side.
(Go to Tweeks and activate Menu SWAP Erase)

Now to the Profile Shortcuts.

It doesn't seem to matter whether you start LiveV tab or Live View.

Go to CF Config menu tab and activate DISP Profiles to 3 (activates profiles 0,1&2)

Turn on Live View as if you're ready to shoot video.
Press the Exposure Button (4th button on top next to ISO)
Press until you reach DISP 0 (which will appear top screen)

Now press the ML menu button and open LiveV tab.
Select what you want to appear for DISP 0

Go back to Live View and press the EXP button to show DISP 1
Go back to LiveV tab and select what you want to appear.

Repeat for DISP 3

This is what I have programmed/selected to appear

DISP 0 = Clear screen (global draw off)
DISP 1 = Zebras
DISP 2 = Histo & Waveform

Works like a charm

I'll gladly help with the wiki, if and when I can understand and add something useful.

Right now its not making sense...lol

:-/ there are no arrows in the ML menu on the 60D.

....update I think I worked out a workaround. be right back

Thanks for that, I will endeavour to understand the manual. But at this point after 7 hours there's something missing.
Either in my understanding a vital point or the manual needs a rewrite with a newbie as a guide, this is not user friendly.
Has this been translated to English?

Before I go. First up [91-art-fast-operating-with-shortcuts] The 60D does not have ARROWS to program on the CONFIG page.

I've read both links many times and they don't help.

I did manage however to go to the LiveV TAB and I can highlight each feature and while pressing the exposure button scroll through
DISP 0, 1, 2. Here is where I thought I could program the features into each profile. But no. I'm still not getting it.

If someone with a 60D can walk me through this I would greatly appreciate it.

One more point, why can't I select 25fps with a 50 shutter?
#11
Figured out I had to go to CF config tab and choose DISPLAY profiles 1-4 depending on how many
presets I want to toggle through by pressing EXP button.

Yes?

Such a bummer to hear this. I haven't had a card fail but reading this makes me weary. It sounds like you have had issues before with cards. Find the best cards you can and take your laptop with you when you film in future and dump those files asap. For peace of mind.
Good luck.

There's no Arrow/Set ups in the pref menu.

Pressing the exposure button does nothing.

Read the manual and many posts.

Unless there's a certain setting in Canons menu that is stopping this function.

Feature Requests / REMAPPED BUTTONS
December 28, 2012, 11:15:24 AM
Sorry I couldn't find anything on this idea, I got 5 pages in and don't have time to look further..(you need a search option in here)

THIS IS FOR VIDEO MODE ONLY

I'd like to have Canons buttons remapped to hold to show functions selected in the ML menu.

Clean screen just the image; hold menu to view Zebras, hold info to view Peak, hold Q to view Histogram & Waveform

Histogram & Waveform to be halfscreen size. Top and bottom.

Histogram is WAY too small up the right hand corner.

(this is during review not record)

General Chat / How to Sync Audio
August 28, 2012, 11:50:43 AM
My background is audio and have a home studio but when it comes to audio for video
I get a little confused as to what sample rate to work in.

I need a work flow for shooting Music Video's.

Lets say I have a track ready for video. The track will be 16/44.1hz

On location I play the track and record it on camera with the video.

On camera the track will be recorded at 16/48hz

How do I sync that with the original 16/44.1?

What is usually done in this situation?

User Introduction / Hello from Sydney Australia

Hi all,

Just started using ML, infact, I'm a total newbie to DSLR. I've been in the music biz for over 30years
and did have a B&W Dark room back in the 80s but haven't touched a camera since then.

Here to learn
