Are you guys saying that if I was to shoot in broad daylight with my 64gb 45mb/s card with my t4i, i won't be able to record for the full 29:59? I just bought an 80 mb/s SD card thinking I was going to be able to do long term picture bursts and noticed it shot slower outside...

This.

I was disappointed until last week when I had to do a lot of video shooting. Did some research for best setting for green screen and found out various tip and tricks to set up the camera for better video recording. The quality is so much better now.
Where did you find these tips because I just purchased a t4i for my church and they do a lot of green screen announcements but when I shot one of the videos last week with MY t4i, I noticed it picked up the fabric lines (it was a spandex green screen material) and I'm not sure how well it's going to key out....PLUS I need to know how to teach my volunteers how to shoot with a DSLR and knowing how to shoot with a green screen would help.  Thank you in advance.

My builds had the "over 4gb" hack. G3gg0 made the program to fix the movies so they would play back. You rewrite them and THEN they go in the time-line.

600D has audio monitoring and full IC control. 650D is still brand new ML territory.

How long does it take to "rewrite them" in this program.  The simpler the better.  IC? I cant wait for ML on the 650D for audio monitoring but I thought you were referring to stock attributes.  I'm really leery of getting the t3i because I have to be able to train everyone on DSLR shooting AND ML which I'm not extremely keen on and don't know the buttons and quick keys for it.  Money's always a problem.

600D:
Record with hacks, trasfer to SD card, rewrite movie with eosmoviefixer

650D:
Transfer to Sd card.. much easier. Benefit to the 600D is audio controls and crop mode. Things that probably don't matter to volunteers at a church.

Define "hacks." Also, is eosmoviefixer a free program or can I just throw all clips on a timeline and put them back to back?  How are the audio controls on the 600D better than on the 650D? Thank you for the help.

For real, you can record up to 30 mins even without ML if you have DIGIC V camera. 650D is DIGIC V. It will split video automatically in 4 GB parts.

With this topic's ML you can record up to 30 min in one file without splitting on 600D.

How easy is the transfer to the computer?  My church edits with iMovie (I know...) so I might have to convert the files for them but I'm dealing with volunteers that don't know much. Do I have to format my sd card for exfat?

Where are we at with the 600D and recording longer than 12 minutes or 4 GB?  It seems like we still don't have a stable release?  I read the first two pages and the last one.  My church is looking to purchase a dslr in a particular price range (used t3i price range) but my pastor wants to be able to safely and soundly record for longer than 12 or 4GB.  Any help is much appreciated.  I personally have a 650D but I'm really shooting for this one listing on ebay for a t3i with a shoulder rig.

I just read this WHOLE THREAD front to back (as it has been a while since I have kept up with where we are) and I'm more lost than I was before I read it! All this talk about all these features I don't understand, boot flag this and dumping that...I'm LOST! The features I DO need and DO understand are audio meters in video mode (why Canon didn't include this is beyond me), zebras, and longer recording times because quite frankly, 29:59 doesn't cut it for a wedding videographer like myself. Does anybody have any enlightening advice or do I need to read that "answers" thread I read about somewhere? I have been longing for ML since I bought my camera in August.

G3gg0's hack lets you record 16gb continuous on T3i, I incorporated it into my build. He is working on extending it to other cameras (there is a test build up). I think it *should* be working on everything that supports exfat. 30 minute limit is still there but that is a big file. Movies have to be patched afterwards.

And if there's someone that has already extended the file size limit, why is there more research being done if the problem had already been solved?

Can you record at full quality 1080p and get up to 30 min of record tine with this hack? How would I install the particular hack after installing magic lantern? I'm just scared of doing anything not supported by the head haunchos of magic lantern but I have the opportunity to get a great deal on a t3i but I really want the long video length of the t4i. Thank you guys for all the help. Please keep the info coming because I really want to learn the ins and outs  of magic lantern and how it helps the camera

It is being worked on. on 600D its doing OK. t4i has no ML and a slightly annoying touch screen.

So when you say it's being worked on do you mean y'all are trying to increase the file limit so that you can get 29:59   or are y'all just creating the movie restart specifically for the t3i?

General Help Q&A / Lengthen video recording time

Someone told me magic lantern extended the time you could record for in movie mode but the FAQ makes me think otherwise? Should I just get a t4i?

I read somewhere that the t4i DID have 3X and 10X zoom. That was one reason I was going to buy it :-(

Please work on getting a stable ML Version for the t4i. Can you manipulate the length of time you can record for in video mode because I would love to have the 29 min 59 seconds extended even further so I can use it as a locked down shot for weddings that would record start to finish?
